  1. Aye, If they were at home against Brentford I'd fancy them to survive, but, honestly? I think Brentford will want to finish as high as possible, see their fans off happy and bloody the nose of a famous old club. I don't think Everton will get a result on the final day, but I'm not Gemmil enough to think it will matter.
  2. That's the thing though, We don't have to have a shirt sponsorship deal with Aramco for £1bn a year to see a huge growth in commercial revenue. Our shirt sponsorship deal with Fun88 is about £6.5m. By comparison West Ham's deal with Betway is £10m which is the 7th biggest deal in the league. The 6th biggest sponsorship deal is AIA's deal with Spurs at £35m. So, if Saudia sponsor the shirt for £12m it couldn't be argued that it's extraordinary for the league, that it's unfair, or over the top for a club of our 'size'. However, that £12m significantly swells our commercial revenue, as will further partnership deals, even if they're at 'fair market' value. So, I'm not worried about some shady Cabal trying to keep us down. It'll work for us as well as it's worked for Man City, PSG et al.
  3. But that doesn't account for potential. e.g. Midtable teams in the top flight, Armtonville United and Brimlingthorpe Rovers both have a shirt sponsorship deal for £5m a year and have done for the previous 5 years. They'd both be allowed to increase their sponsorship by the percentage growth and nothing more, right? However, the lucky ducks at Brimlingthorpe have just been bought by Scrooge McDuck who is worth around £200bn. Which is the more valuable brand for a bank to tie itself to for 3 years?
  4. Trippier, Lodi, Carrasco, are we bullying Atletico into giving us all their treats?
  5. A ) Why are you swearing at your dog? B ) Hah! look at your little piggy fingers, or C )... I think your daughter needs to see a doctor.
  6. Appropriate to market value as decided by... whom? Right now, Newcastle United are an exciting project, richest club on the planet (we're not reall,y but stick with me), got some exciting players, and the potential for the club is to match Man City. Have 'United Group' clubs across the globe, our brand shown on every tv. What's it worth to get in on the ground floor, of that? New shirt sponsors that are in line with West Ham, or Everton are entirely reasonable and represent fair market value. Sleeve sponsors, training ground sponsors, academy sponsors... We have bot all commercial revenue compared to similar clubs, and if I know anything, it's that this club needs an official pillow partner, a tractor partner, a duct maintenance partner.
  7. Nice of your daughter to send you that picture so you can lie to the mean boys on the internet and make out like you do take the dog out for a walk sometimes.
  8. We can still poach Raphinha and Phillips, whether they stay up or not. for what it's worth, I'm doing some Olympic level mental gymnastics to convince myself Everton are going down. Everton are fucked by injury, suspension and a poor head coach. They'll fail to beat Crystal Palace who still have a real chance of a top half finish. Aston Villa are in ok form, but more importantly, this is their final home game of the season, so unfortunately I think they'll beat Burnley. Table going into the final day will look like; Burnley host Newcastle. We've nothing to play for, we've had our last home game, we're the richest club in the world, half the fringe players are out the door, half the first team will not long behind them. Forget the flipflops, we'll be taking to the field in the hotel dressing gown sloshing our 4th mojito about and clicking our fingers for the waiter's attention. Burnley win. Everton travel to Arsenal who HAVE to better Spurs' result. It's Arsenal's final home game and they have to win. Everton are ravaged by injury and, now, suspensions. They've only amassed 10pts on the road. Plus their head coach is shit. The 250k travelling scouse fans packed into the Emirates will go home with nothing but whatever they've pilfered. Leeds. Honestly? This is the one that could go either way. Brentford are decent, it's their final game. Leeds have been shite, but they've got grit and in Raphinha and Gelhardt they've players who can make something happen. I think/hope the final table will look like;

    The fucking arrogance to think that your inability to stick to a normal input/output is the norm. I know more people who do some form of exercise than don't. I know more people who think about what the eat, than don't. I know more people who openly take the piss out of fad diets, than take part in them. In fact the only people who lurch from one lunatic idea to the next, are fatties. And the reason they do that is because they honestly believe there's a quick fix out there that's easier than just eating in moderation and exercising a bit. Everyone, and I do mean everyone, should know by now that the absolute, cast iron guaranteed way to healthily lose weight is to burn off more than you take in. So even if it is the national norm, you've been on here long enough, with enough people who consider what they input/ouput, that you should have fucking learned by now. I hate the way you think.
  10. For me it's inexorably linking Newcastle United with KSA. Whenever Newcastle take to the field in that strip, they might as well be taking to the field in the Saudi national strip. When that's normalised, the sportswashing is working.
  11. I dunno if reporters reporting on fairly obvious sportswashing is aiding the sportswashing, mind you. I think if the reporters left the fans out of it, they'd get a better reaction, but fewer clicks. If this is Castore's idea, it's a pretty bad one. If they're trying to increase NUFC's footprint in KSA, I'm not sure a strip that is very similar to their own national kit is good strategy. Surely Aramco/Saudia/KSA Bonesaws as a sponsor on the black and white shirt is a better way to get the club recognised over there?
  12. Perhaps, I still think that if they'd kept their powder dry a while longer, they could have buried this news and dodged the kind of scrutiny they're getting now. It's the 3rd kit, announce Nunez and this shit gets lumped in with that story about Saudis buying success, or ignored entirely.
  13. It could be that he's been starting on the left, because our leftback is better defensively than the one on the other flank? (In Trippier's absence)
  14. We can put robots on Mars, deep fake faces onto strangers, convince sports stars to advertise a bitmap image of a monkey. Why the fuck can't we, as a society, come up with statues that bear a decent likeness to their subject? They were doing it 500 years ago.
  15. I don't think it is a good idea and certainly not to leak it now. If they'd released it over the summer when big signings are being made by elite clubs, or whatever they could have snuck it in under the RADAR. As it is, this will be a story, Howe will be asked about it (as if he's got a say) and it will impact the view of Newcastle's performance this season since the takeover. If they'd waited it would have been "Howe's done a great job, the new signings have been largely a success and that Bruno is mint!", now it'll be "The Saudi blood money paid for Newcastle's survival and they'll be celebrating that by spending more blood money and playing in the Saudi national strip next season."

  17. No. Absolutely not. It needs to stand as it is. As a monument to the deluge of piss flowing from the beds of the timorous and weak.

  19. Aye, doesn't make a lot of sense to spend a fortune on an injury plagued striker to bolster our forward line that's often left short because of an injury plagued striker.
