Why, in the world, would you cherry pick those two, instead of looking at the overall trend? Given, y'know, that's what we're talking about? with ASM, Almiron averages 7.3% of the teams' touches, without it's 7.5%, leave out the Liverpool game and it's 8%. with ASM, Almiron averages 9.8% as the team's passing target, without it's 9.7%, leave out Liverpool and it's 10.3%. 75% of ASM's games see him as the passing target one in ten times. Almiron is 25% with ASM, without it's 50%. So, in summary. When ASM plays, Almiron has fewer touches and is the passing target less often. Right, now that we've cleared that up you can go ask someone else to explain shit.
-
No, it shows he's performed well, not that he has usurped ASM as the most dangerous goal threat. I've shown that, per 90, Almiron gets more touches, is the target of more passes, when ASM isn't playing. In terms of possession percentage. In terms of being a target of a pass
-
How is this still rumbling on. When ASM comes back, Almiron will get less of the ball. Not none of the ball, less of the ball. How is this contentious?
-
It might do, you make a good point, but I guess I'm thinking that it'll probably be harder to score at the levels he has when he DOESN'T GET THE FUCKING BALL!
-
Urgh... Jesus. Goal threat ≠ Goal return This is what it would feel like if Tony Hawk tried to explain skateboarding to a fucking fish.

We've Got Miggy + Gemmill On The Wings vs. Danks For The Emeries FC
The Fish replied to Meenzer's topic in Newcastle Forum
We've played a lot of games at high intensity, Bruno's had fuck all sleep. Wouldn't be shocked to see a little rotation. -
Listen here you little shit; When ASM gets back, I think Miggy's form might dwindle and I'm interested to see if that's the case. That's it, that's the big contentious position I've taken. Jesus Christ, this shit right here is why I like numbers more than people.
-
? I know ASM is a bigger goal threat. My thing was, how is ASM's return going to impact Almiron? Miggy will see less of the ball and be relied upon less. Will that have a disproportionate impact on the lad? Will his confidence dwindle because he won't be the outlet that he has been in Allan's absence?
-
The 4 games where they've played together (first 4 matches) ASM averaged 45 touches, Almiron averaged 39 touches. The matches after Miggy averages 44. Take out the Liverpool game where we didn't have much possession at all and he's close to 48 touches. Avg xG with ASM playing - 0.225. Without - 0.36. Take out Liverpool 0.41 Avg times Almiron was a target for a pass with ASM playing - 35. Without 41. Take out Liverpool - 45 (ASM was the target for a pass, on average 41 times) Last season, ASM was the target of a pass 1302 times, Almiron was 661. I'm not saying Bruno, Joelinton, Willock, Longy and Howe are wrong. I'm saying you are.

Saudi Wealth Fund in Talks with Boeing, Airbus to Order 80 Jets - Bloomberg -
Sure, more space, but no football to kick in to the opposition goal. Because Allan will have it.
-
Aye, but the focus of the team will pivot to the left side. You dummkopf
-
Whey, they're all tiny, aren't they?
-
Well, we're waiting!
-
Maybe it's already sorted between Beige FC and Frank and that 'performance' was part of the deal?
-
I love him so much. Genuinely thought that wide forward was the place we needed to prioritise come January, but now? Miggy has made that position his own. Be interesting to see how his form is impacted by the return of ASM.

People bithcing about Newcastle winding the clock down are misdirecting their frustrations at their own team. If Spurs had taken their chances, or had found a route around Botman and Schar, if Lloris hadn't surrendered possession easily, if their players were better on the ball, if they created more high quality chances, then Newcastle wouldn't be killing the game off. As the away team, against a team targeting the CL spots, you'd expect them to dominate possession, spend most their time in the attacking 3rd, and create a good number of good chances. We had comparable possession ((53 - 47%), more touches in the final 3rd (132 - 176) , better pass completion (78-79%), and although they had more xG (1.57 - 1.13) 0.5 of that came from Kane's goal. Their Market Value (from Transfermarkt) was £426m for the match day squad. Ours was £287m. That's a £138m difference. Antonio Conte has won 1 Serie B, 4 Scudetto, 1 Premier League, 2 Supercoppa, 1 Fa Cup. Eddie Howe has won the EFL Championship, once. If you're a Spurs fan complaining that Newcastle United time wasted their way to victory a) you didn't watch the game and b) your team should have found a way to win anyway.

MATHS JOKE!

Mine insisted on us calling her mum, she also insisted on calling me David. How well is that working out for ya, Judy? Didn't think your darling boy would be such a stone cold rebel, did you? In your face!
-
"mum"?!

Also, for the first time in a long time we've a identity as a squad. So while the squad depth will improve in quality, the identity of the club should bleed into the development squads. That should mean that even if fixture congestion means we name a much changed squad for an FA cup game against Barnet, the core approach won't diverge too far from the norm.

Never heard of it until now, quick youtube and my interest is piqued, though I worry it may already have peaked. Words are fun, aren't they? Piqued, peaked. Homonyms.
