It sucks that this has been your experience. It's not mine though, every time I've needed HR they've had my back. Even when I've had issues with pay they've done their best to get it resolved as quick as possible.

But things like emotional intelligence, diversity awareness do matter. I know that my manager and team have benefited from training courses on awareness of mental health issues in the workplace because I can hear the buzzwords, or recognise the approaches. Good HR staff can make a huge difference in your work life balance, your career path and your confidence in the company.
