"Mike, why didn't you burn the tapes?"

We had a supply English teacher who later became full time. I'd have came all over here, oh aye

Can I also just say that so far the Beeb's coverage has been brilliant. Humphrey was my major worry but he isn't half as annoying as I thought he would be. Even if he was i'd still doff my cap to the BBC for the F1 Forum idea, especially since one of my major issues with ITV was how they'd pass on any form of post-race analysis so they could put Corrie on.

Not as far as I know, but it'll be on the red button or you can watch it here

I can't believe someone hasn't mentioned the race in this thread. I was debating spoilering my comments but if you don't know the result now you never will... Fantastic race by Button fo the win but my driver of the day would be Hamilton. Stunning drive in a car which looked devoid of any quality yesterday. If he didn't prove it by winning the title, he proved it by dragging that dog of a car onto the podium from what was last on the grid. Roll on Sepang

Anyone who watched us put four past Spuds last season would know that Keegan is far from tactically inept, eh Danny?

Went camping for my mates stag do last year. We pitched up in a field near Prudda (oh aye, we know how to rock it) and it was fucking hell. The initial idea was that we spend the weekend getting pissed and stoned and generally having a laugh. We thought the weather was going to be good as it had been scorching the week prior but it rained nigh on constantly, it was windy and it was freezing. I've never been so miserable.

I'm on the look out for a nice, secluded cottage in the countryside. Any suggestions?

I kna it's from the SMB but this is a diamond of a thread

Lets hope he doesn't bully them this time.

He was very disappointing when I saw him at the opera house about ten years ago. Gave the impression he couldn't really be arsed. I haven't seen any of his really old stuff but his more recent shows, especially the ones he did after Jerry Springer: The Opera are fantastic. EDIT: I feel the need to post the Princess Di bit from one of his shows...

That was a great programme, getting away with as much as humanly possible on a sunday morning, i'm surprised they didn't get in more trouble! For some reason though, both that and Lee and Herring's other show 'Fist of fun' never seem to be repeated or available to buy, though i managed to trawl the internet and download both a little while back. All TMWRNJ episodes are on Google Video. Some great stuff looking back at them like the Curious Orange and the fake Rod Hull I think Stewart Lee is a fantastic comedian. Some of his stand up stuff is out of this world.

I'm loaded with Man Flu and I got a sum total of two hours sleep last night but i'm like a kid at Christmas because the practice is on live this evening Cracking news IMO Slick tyres, rear diffusers which promote overtaking and 26 car grids - we're heading back to the good old days! And in 2010...no refuelling My bet for the new teams are USGPE, Hyundai and I get the feeling we'll eventually see Prodrive.

To be fair when he went to the Smogs I looked at him and thought "there's no fucking way that lad should be playing for Boro". Something clearly happened at Chelsea which turned him shite.

Can't remember fully, but wasnt that his agent hawking him around. Seem to recall his agent made him look a twat a few times. Badly advised iirc. Guess who his agent was

Hmm, aren't you opposed to the death penalty? An eye for an eye and all that. How is my opposition to the death penalty relevant? This bloke is getting £700,000 a year for doing a shite job and some people who have every right to be fucked off at the fact he's refusing to give even a small sum of that money back have put through his windows. They're not really on the same level. You're condoning vigilantism and thoughtless retribution as opposed to considered punishment and action. That's why it's revelant. I'm not opposing 'considered punishment and action'. In fact i'd welcome it but unfortunately none is forthcoming. This bloke was a major player in the banking fiasco and in wider terms the financial crisis. While misery is being heaped on millions of people up and down the country who are losing their jobs this man, who oversaw the biggest annual corporate loss in UK history and effectively drove a bank into nationalisation, is not only given a pension which dishes out more in a year than some of us can hope to earn in a lifetime but he's totally unwilling to see it cut. I don't condone vigilantism but this fucker has a nerve complaining about someone hoying paint stripper on his Merc and having a few windows put out after what he's done.

Goodwin is an odious cunt and I can't help but think this is deserved.

We'll not see a player as good as him for a long time.

Fair play, you lucky fucker

Everyone here would probably say their dream job as a bairn was to be a footballer, but you need so much luck, focus and dedication. It isn't all about talent, I bet there are people in this forum with more natural ability than some professional footballers, you just need everything to click in to place, not just in football but in any job where there are infinitely fewer opportunities than people willing to do it. My ambition was to be a journalist of sorts, I don't think that could ever happen now, I'd need to go and get a degree for one, and fuck that, but good luck in whatever dream you chase. You don't need a degree. Apart from footie what would you like to write about or have some degree of knowledge about? You needed a media qualification I know that for an absolute nailed on fact, certainly to get a job at Thomson House. Football would be what I would like to write about, or be a travel reporter, I'm not as well travelled as the likes of that cunt on here who's old forget his name, you know who I mean, but who is, I've been about a bit though. I'd be a good news reporter for a trashy paper as well, who need sensationalist stories for non-events. NCTJ qualifications are more important than a degree nowadays but the courses cost upwards of £1000 if I remember correctly. Trouble is even if you have the time and money to do the course the chances of you getting a job in journalism at the minute are slim. All you need is an aptitude for discursive writing and some will power, the rest is cobblers. How I wish that was true I'm living proof. It was possible in the past. I know Jez Robinson, the bloke behind ALS, he basically started off the fanzine with no prior writing experience and ended up working for the local and national press. Nowadays though because jobs are so thin on the ground you need to be well qualified or related to someone with their foot already in the door. I've now done 3 corporate books and working on my 4th, I have no kind of writing qualification whatsoever. Aye, but that's a completely different kettle of fish to working for a newspaper or magazine. I have written for at least a half dozen mags. Was it paid work? I don't do it for fun. I mean was it for a prolonged period. Was it technically your 'job'?
