Official Match Thread: Newcastle United Vs Chelsea
Ketsbaia replied to Park Life's topic in Newcastle Forum
Thankfully the Mackems are playing Man United next week so common sense should dictate they'll get stuffed which will help the GD somewhat. Stoke's home record makes me very dubious that we'll get a win but Shearer and Dowie have a week to work with them on the pitch so God knows what's going to turn out next weekend. A draw wouldn't be the end of the world as I still think we're capable of beating Boro and Pompy but we really can't afford to write off games at the minute. It'll be a messy game. -
To be fair wasn't all the "He gets a chopper from Cheshire to Tyneside" stuff debunked ages ago when he did that documentary? And how do you know he was holding the club to ransom over a new contract? I'm not 'sucking his cock' as you put it, i'm just aware he's our best player by a country mile and one of a quality we wont see for some time if we continue on down this slippy slope. I appreciate quality and Owen has it.

And what's your point? Injuries are injuries. Taylor has been lucky enough to get away with playing for both while Owen has suffered one or two horrific setbacks over the past few years. Had Taylor been 50/50 prior to the 2006 WC and he was called up he'd have done the same as Owen.

I do like how our fans use Owen answering the call and going to the world cup as an example of how he's taking us for a ride. See J69 as an example... Because clearly, if Steven "Ama Jaadee Mee!" Taylor wasn't 100% fit and he was called up to the England squad for a World Cup he'd tell them to fuck off.

Rumours abound that Button may be getting excluded from the championship by the FIA for something completely pathetic. That's the chatter at the bookies anyway.

Can you say quite honestly that if Joe Kinnear had made the same move you'd be gushing about it so much? ...in the context that Shearer has no coaching experience. Dowie will bring that. Shearer had a coaching role for his last 2 years at the club. Hughton has plenty of experience too. I'm happy to have the fella here as part of the Shearer package, he'll bring a freshness that could well help us win us a few games. I wouldn't pretend that if Kinnear had brought him in I'd have been saying anything but "big fucking wow, the bloke who hasn't lasted more than 50 games at any of his last 3 clubs is here to save us" though. I think what Dowie brings is managerial experience, which is a different thing. I know Calderwood has that too btw but Shearer probably wanted someone he knew and so on too. Calderwood's experience doesn't seem to stretch beyond getting teams relegated. At least Dowie threatened to be a good manager in his early days.

No he hasn't. He's dragged us kicking and screaming into a relegation battle we would never have touched if Keegan had been manager. He's still a huge cunt and he's going to have to do more than appoint a legend (as he has done before) to get away with this unmitigated disaster of a season. Shearer or no Shearer he's showed an arrogance and disdain towards the fans that I and many others wont forget for a long time.

They need that length of time so SKY can pump Jim White full of caffeine for the press conference. "So Alan, what made you come back here and manage your home town club when they were in such trouble. Was it these fantastically brilliant amazing fans or was it because you've got the heart of a Lion and courage of a WW2 fighter pilot?"
