Why what does he bring which is so good? He's built up a well balanced squad at Blackburn on a budget smaller than ours and has probably taken them as far as he possibly can with it. He likes to play the conventional 4-4-2 system. He is young with plenty to prove. He has not been involved in any bungles. He knows the transfer system, he has been praised by good players on his tactics, and he's better than anyone else we could possibly get especially now that other managers know Ashley offered £5m a year to a washed up 60 year old.

so paying off the ridiculous debts isnt a good start? as for sacking the manager half way through the season when were heading towards the bottom well do you realistically think we were going in any other direction under the fat man? As for being raped yesterday, we would have been anyway and frankly I reckon it could have been more. No, for me hes only made two mistakes so far, the first being to not go with his gut and boot Sam out on day 1 and secondly as HF said "that fucking advert on the Gallowgate", I'll excuse him that if he gets us on the right track. Of course plying odd the debt was a good start. But paying a net total of £12m on players was chicken feed comparing to 7 or 8 other teams. Especially when you consider the squad wasn't strong to start with. Sacking the manager half way through is absurd. Sure we were struggling under Allardyce but now we have nobody to take responsibility and to make things worse, Ashley doesn't have anyone to step in. There's only one direction now, and with every day that passes this month is one less we can bring anyone decent in (in terms of players and manager) to get us out of the shit. A relegation dogfight isn't out of the question in this moment in time. We were raped yesterday, and yes we would have lost under Allardyce anyway but that's no excuse for trying and failing to get 'arry and having nobody to lead us out of the mire. Reminds me of the line in the Queen song: "I want it all...I want it NOW!!" If Ashley doesn't back HIS manager in the summer then you'll have a right to whinge. At the moment no one else is lining up to spend £millions on wiping out debts or buying players so it's not like we are in a position to carp anyhow. I thought it was a great interview. Aye, a real rallying cry wasn't it?.. He says he's doing it his way yet it was Chris Mort who instigated the dismissal of Allardyce according to quotes. Dismissing Allardyce now in the middle of a transfer window and only 6 points away from relegation without a swift plan to bring in a better manager. I think my right to be worried if not whinge right now has some weight behind it tbh.

Would rather have had Mark Hughes than "arry Redknapp from the very beginning. Ashley offered £5m a year to 'arry ffs. What's going on there? "You don't know what you're doing...you don't know what you're doing..." etc...

He'd be a fool not to wait until the AC Milan job is available at the end of the season, and I don't think he's a fool at all. I would rather wait and go there than come to Newcastle. He's not allowed to go to a Premiership club until the end of the season in any case under an agreement with Chelsea and he has always said he wanted to experience another country before even considering managing in England again.

£250m is nothing? He gave fatty money to buy players, granted most are proving to be shit BUT thats not Mikes fault Fired Allardyce as it became apparent he was doing fuck all and we were making zero progress Now he is going to roll up his sleeves and get stuck which means putting more money in, he has a dream for the club which he aims to fulfill Dont ask for much do you ???? I'm a realist mate. As opposed to a fantasist. See the part in bold? That's the amount he's spent to reach the £250m, and you can add that to what he paid for the club and you get the total, minus £12 million which he spent on players. He's sacked the manager half way through the season, and we aren't too far off relegation battle to be able to breathe easy. His first preference as new manager was 'arry Redknapp which he couldn't persuade. The problems under Allardyce still persist now without him, and we got raped in our last game. No mate, I don't ask for much... "NEWSFLASH"!!!!!! Everything you read in the papers isnt true. Harry was a candidate for the job but how do you know he was offered it? Was he the only person approached??. My view is that talks broke down and Harry decided to stay put. Jesus, talk about being a pedant. Harry was a candidate. The club approached him. Is that not as good as being offered the position?

I'd love to see us beating Chelsea and Tottenham and giving Man United a fair fuckin' game. But talk is cheap. Tell me a fan who wouldn't want to see these things. Ashley has done nothing yet (discounting paying off the debt). Wake me up when he has. Fantasy and reality at Newcastle are universes way off.

When they turn it down it'll be to Steve McClaren. I can see it now. Fuckin' ridiculous situation to be in at this time of the season and so close to relegation... Fuckin' circus.

Skol, you are right and you are wrong. There is no doubt that there are problems with the current squad of players but why when our now departed manager is known to place such an importance on fitness does the team who he was in charge of for eight months always look like they are knacker at about the 75 minute? Why did Pearson insist on playing Smith in the midfield? Why the fuck is he captain? The formation and tactics he used? Again we lumped it long to EMO and he didn't look interested. These are all the results of Allardyce's ways. That being said, skol you are correct the club has been hoping on the expectation that other teams cast offs will find their previous good form for NUFC and it will all gel together. Today was proof of what I have been saying for a while, SAF doesn't sell quality players to other teams in the premier league, fact. Lastly Matt you are 100% correct they need to redeem themselves and hire the right person. Not another average manager or an inexperienced Shearer. If they want success they need to spend to much money, they are smart, they know that quality costs. We're not buying sportswear from China here! You wanted Allardyce out. You got it. Now pay for the fuckin' consequences my Ozzie friend. We are in a fuckin' relegation battle. What does all that shit you kept dribblin' on about for an eternity say about your philosophy? Fuck all!!! Keep complaining about having to pay for Pay-TV FFS

In all honesty, it makes our club look like a fuckin' shithole. And I don't blame 'arry.

Rubbish man. "Arry Redknapp is a fuckin' God compared to who we may eventually get. Those that are misguided think/hope/expect we'll get a world-class manager. Bollocks to that. We won't. Van Gaal, Hitzfield, Mourinho are only names that the deluded can think of. We get anyone other than an average British manager than I'll eat my arse. Fuckin' welcome to reality...
-
Where exactly is the feelgood factor with Redknapp? His twitching. And the fact we feel good it won't be McClaren...we hope.
-
Exactly. Harry wouldnt be my first choice, but the options available are much much smaller than many fans would like to think. While the form table shows that Pompy have a shocking recent home record (as per .com) its interesting to see they are TOP of the away form table. I'm bored of the "Mourinho, Lippi, Hitzfeld wouldn't touch us" argument. Who has said they would? There are others though. Man City got Eriksson, Spurs got Ramos - we're in the same position in and we go for a 60-year old never-was. That's what it comes down to! Who should we have gone for though? Take our Ramos, Sven etc are we really left with Jol, Houllier with prem experience (assuming they wanted that). Ashley/Mort are new to football so I really dont see them taking a risk with an outsider. If Im honest, Id accept taking Harry, though like most be underwhelmed by it, however I think Im happier we didnt get Hughes or McLaren than I am anything else. As it seems at least. True that. Sad times we are in really. C'mon 'arry, c'mon 'arry, c'mon 'arry

SSN - Newcastle to make official approach for Redknapp
Ken replied to Scottish Mag's topic in Newcastle Forum
Just what the hell does that mean?! 'Understands'? From who??? The club has either said it or they haven't. For anyone who thinks 'we should give Harry a chance' if he's brought in I say bollocks, it's ridiculous. Redknapp doesn't inspire any form of optimism, he's a cockney tit who's in no way better than Sam, call it a sideways step or whatever but one way to garentee that a manager won't get a decent chance is to employ one who doesn't get the fans going. I'm fed up to the back teeth of every time this managerial roundabout kicks off with us we end up extremely underwhelmed, no wonder there's a large portion of the fans who are so indifferent and unsupportive. I don't believe this rubbish about not being able to attract a higher class of manager either, money talks and Ashley's got a stack, he either wants to win stuff with Newcastle or he doesn't. If we get Redknapp I'll be mightly fed up with the whole thing. Whilst I am completely underwhelmed by the appointment (if true) of course as a supporter of the club I am going to give him a chance. What do you propose we do? Continue the pantomime booing, start Redknapp out chants etc Some people wouldn't even give Allardyce 12 matches, do you think we should be hounding Harry out before a ball is even kicked? I wouldn't put it past the mongs. Those that have been chanting Shearer and Keegan will probably wait for the slightest opportunity. This is Newcastle United Football Club after all. -
I hope it's 'arry. Better him than McClaren who imo would be the only one willing to take up the position at this current time.

Better Arry than McClaren. But that's not saying very much at all... -

In this January transfer window, £20m is decent enough, that's two good players at least. But I'd hope that figure at least triples in the off-season otherwise I would be pretty fucking livid if it isn't with the squad atm. -
I reckon the meeting went along the lines of SAM: We need to buy Kevin Nolan Ashley: OK Ive heard enough Stealing my jokes hey? http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?showtopic=17718

Especially since Mourinho is on "gardening duties". He can't come back to the Premier League until at least the end of the season. I don't see us being managerless for half a season. Ashley and Mort may be new to the game but they aren't that daft...surely. Here's hoping it is someone else top notch though...
-
Seeing as Allardyce was sacked hours after discussing transfer targets, one could find it hard to argue that that was the icing on the cake which did him in. Chris Mort - "After having a look at your transfer requests Mr Ashley has no option but to part company with you. Your list with the names of Nolan, Diarra and two hatchet men from the Portuguese league neither he nor I have heard of before fills him with very little confidence that you can continue as manager. So Sam it is with regret that we must say bugger off".

Not a chance we'd sign Fred for £5M. 500k for that old bomb Carr is even more unrealistic. You never know what Gordon Strachan and Glenn Roeder could be thinking though. As for Fred, yeah £5 Million may be a tad optimistic, but I'd have him here in front of Ashton personally. Although Ashton is a good player in his own right, I'd want to have Fred.

Crimson what utter utter shite. Rozenhal's fuck ups are boredering on Bramble status. At least Ramage knows he's shit but will but the effort in regardless. Oh...so that makes it all right then... No, I'm saying he'd do a better job than Rozenhal. Then I will have to go on record saying that that is bollocks. Ramage should be playing for Luton Town. Rozenhal on the other hand is a player who has some deficiencies but could transform given the time. Into what, the fucking Elephant Man? No, into a decent Premiership player. Ramage is a Championship player who should be playing for a team fighting to save there status in that competition.
