Bearing in mind that by 1967 NASA was still blowing up Rockets on the launch pad and that the Russians were still shitting themselves that any human travelling through deep space would get fried by the Van Allen belt of radiation, does anyone else feel a bit sceptical that in 1969 the Americans managed to not only get to the Moon but managed to get back unharmed at the first attempt ?? Yeah but admittedly NASA pumped in a huge amount of money to develop their rockets. If you pump enough money into something you achieve results. I also believe the silence of the Russians and the fact they never voiced their skepticism over America's achievements in landing man on the moon as a point which leads me to believe that they did it. I have read that small doses of radiation in the Van Allen belt is acceptable to humans without permanent damage, and also that the radiation doesn't affect humans at all period, but I'm not from a scientific background so I wouldn't have a clue. As proof that man has reached the moon there are mirrors left on the moon by members of the Apollo crew which are used to bounce lasers off of them to measure the moon's orbit and distance. I am a little skeptical about the official time line myself though, and whether the images and film supposedly taken during the Apollo 11 mission were fake, to make it appear that the mission was perfect and successful from start to finish. NASA has lied about the use of fibre optics. They had us believe that they were using kodak - black and white film in a primitive 1960's camera; fibre optic lie

It's not everyday you hear the word especially in American mainstream media, but the word came up on 3m:14s. It left me a little gobsmacked anyway. http://www.cnbc.com/id/15840232?video=902540383&play=1

48% of Britons believe that Area 51 exists to investigate aliens and their spaceships. Yes I believe it once did, but Area 51 isn't so secretive now as everyone knows about it so they have had to move to places unknown. Area 51 is primarily used now for black budget projects that are of earthly origin, but was once a place where extraterrestrial technology was back-engineered and researched as Bob Lazar (a guy who used to work there) has described. The guy even knew when these things were to fly around and took people to go watch them and video them back in the early 1990's. I also believe John Lear (whose father formed the Lear Jet company) also when he says that America has had the technology for decades now to be able to fly to the Moon and Mars as simply as boarding on a plane to go from London to LA. I have heard of bases jointly run by ET's and humans here on earth like the Dulce base in New Mexico, but I don't know if that's true. There are supposed to be other bases in and around America and Puerto Rico. A massive 38% think that 9/11 was orchestrated by the US government. I don't know what's wackier, this particular conspiracy or those who believe it. I've heard/read them all; That the planes were 3D holograms that were actually missiles, that a secretive governmental element oversaw the whole thing complete with unmarked planes on the day of the event, that bombs were planted inside the WTC to ensure they came down. Please... give me a break. And 35% believe that the Apollo landing on the Moon was a hoax. Not sure, but I do believe that man has gone to the moon but whether it was in 1969 I don't know, although it is said that America has bases on the moon unknown to the public and they are mining it and have done so for decades, a claim made by John Lear. I do believe that NASA is a deceitful organisation who do not tell us everything there is to know, after all, it is a governmental organisation. I do know that many photos taken by NASA of the Lunar surface and other planets have been airbrushed to hide things. Now why would they do this? A suspicious 32% are convinced that Diana, Princess of Wales, and Dodi Fayed were murdered. Bollocks. 25% think the Illuminati and the Masons are trying to take over the world. Bollocks again. And would you believe Scientologists rule Hollywood? Well, 17% of those who took part in the survey would. It used to be the Jews, now it's Tom Cruise and his merry band of scientologists. Big Brother is watching - and 7% believe that barcodes are really intended to control people. Only the mentally deluded and supa-paranoid believe this one. And 6% are convinced that Microsoft sends messages via Wingdings. Don't know, maybe, probably... ahh who cares. Another dark theory: some 5% believe the US government allowed Pearl Harbour to happen. I believe the Americans had an inkling that this was going to happen, obviously, because at the time the Japanese took America's support of China and its embargo of oil and steel as an act of war, but I don't believe the Americans knew the day and hour the attack was to happen. They hadn't fully mastered Japanese encryption until later on in the war. The Yanks could have been more vigilant though, that's for sure. And 3% think the world is run by dinosaur-like reptiles! Reptoids that can morph their image from lizard-like to human and they walk among us. No. The poll also revealed that 61% believe in aliens. Statistics alone (Drake Equation) make me believe there are advanced extraterrestrial biological entities in the universe whose civilisations have had millions of years head start over us. I also believe they have been visiting earth for thousands if not millions of years. There has been much anecdotal evidence over the years. I believe the Roswell incident is true. The Rendlesham incident in Suffolk was pretty damning as it was witnessed by military personnel. The incident at Varginha, Brazil. The Kecksberg incident was another, and of course the thousands upon thousands of witness accounts over the years. The mythology and depictions from many civilisations and cultures throughout history suggests visitation from ET's also. Definitely, we are not alone. And 52% think ghosts exist. I've never experienced anything supernatural, but I've read and watched stories/accounts in the past from people who have and this leads me to believe that, yes, they quite possibly do exist.

I'd add it to every other minute I've seen him play - no potential or promise for me. He's only 19. The first few times he came on as sub that I recall he showed some promise. He looked to be able to hold up the ball, and he's got a bit of power in his shots. Shame he's got a bit of an ego on him, but again, that could just be his age showing.
-
Bassong has been good. But he is a natural CB playing out of position, but not out of his depth at LB. The more games he plays, the more comfortable he'll get. Definitely a good prospect and I hope he eventually gets a crack at CB.
-
Yep, bit harsh to judge him on 10 minutes of game time. I agree that he should have put himself about more, being a nuisance to Man City's midfield, even picking up a yellow card if he had to, but he didn't, he just plodded along and contributed nothing. Shola had a good game, credit where credit is due, even though his goal was a fluff, which sums up the type of player he is, but he put in a good shift yesterday. I thought Damien Duff was man of the match myself. He is kicking it up a gear, and although he isn't the vintage Duff of 2002, he is showing us he still has the legs. Here's hoping he takes 2 steps forward in the next few months instead of 5 steps backwards. He is the one with any real creativity in the squad at the moment and is crucial to the club surviving relegation this season.

Think it was the former fat bloke who wears a dark blue blazer to the cricket, sister also has a Wii. Think he was also havin' a dig at you because you were Irish

Steven Taylor finally admitting he is shit, taylorisshit Steven Taylor says Newcastle's players can't use the turmoil off the pitch as an excuse for their struggles on it. The crisis club sank to their fourth straight defeat against Tottenham in the Carling Cup in front of St James' Park's lowest crowd for 16 years and Taylor (right) claims all the players are hurting. They face Blackburn at home tomorrow and Taylor says it's a mustwin game. "What happens off the field is nothing to do with us," said the centre-half. "We have just got to get on with what we do on the pitch. "We're gutted at the moment, but when you're feeling like this there's nothing better than a quick chance to put things right. "We've got that chance with our game against Blackburn and that's become a big game for us. A win would mean so much to us. It would push us right back up the table, which would be great because the sooner people stop talking about this relegation dogfight the better. "The fans are feeling disappointed at the moment and it's up to us to get things moving and put the smile back on their faces." Taylor, 22, is determined to atone for his mistake for Tottenham's second goal in their 2-0 win and has apologised to the fans and his team-mates. "I hold my hands up for that second goal," he said. "I was devastated because it proved so costly. I let my teammates down. "When your luck is down, your luck is down. As Michael Owen said to me, when your luck's in as a defender, he would have gone on and missed. But when you're out of luck, you can be guaranteed that he will go on and score."

I also just wanted a decent manager and stability, but something more pressing now is an owner/s who will put in a bit of money during the January window. It is clear we have one of the weakest and smallest squads in the league. When that mountain of fixtures arrive come Dec/Jan we will be utterly screwed, no matter what kind of motivator/manager/coach we may have in by that time. I felt even before all this happened (Keegan/Wise/Lliambus bust up) we needed a strong start to this current campaign to be sure we wouldn't be in a relegation dogfight. Now that we have assured ourselves of the worst possible start imaginable, there is only one thing that will save us and that is a new owner and to be rid of the current structure and the individuals who occupy those roles in the structure. We are in no position to pick and choose who we want to see buy Ashley out, just as I feel Ashley is in no position to bargain and sell to the highest bidder. I will only believe this buyout from the Nigerian consortium when it happens. I just find it hard to believe they are willing to go as high as £450million when others who appear to be wealthier (Arabs) than this Nigerian consortium (the richest Nigerian person has an estimated wealth of US$2.5 Billion, which I looked up) won't even offer half that amount. There are 4 individuals in this consortium apparently. You would hope that the wealthiest bloke is involved and add on top of that 3 others with a wealth of about US$1 Billion. So that's a consortium worth about US$5 Billion. Much better than Ashley but they are paying a heck of a lot for a, let's be honest here, shit club with a rich history, great tradition and big stadium, but nothing else at the moment. If it happens, then that's great. Install a new manager, fix up the structure or at least put in people better qualified, buy a few players in January and let's avoid relegation.

Yes plus whoever is next manager will have to bare the brunt of being known as the man who replaced the messiah. Rightly or wrongly the next man in charge will have the piss taken out of him. Oh, and there's the small issue of having to work with a small squad that lacks serious quality in many departments. I just hope the next time you put your telly into use Jimbo, that it's good news, and that we aren't in the Championship...

I think you'll find this is wrong. Dubai have a fierce rivalry with Abu Dhabi. When DIC (Dubai) finally own a club in the Premier League, they'll want to outdo the Abu Dhabi group. The only problem is this DIC group want Liverpool. We can only hope those yanks keep refusing DIC's overtures, they lose patience with them and they buy our club.

This sticks out in my mind. He had a decent squad to work with, even better than Phillipe Troussier's Japan team, but he stuffed it up. He basically picked the best 11 and tried to fit them in, somehow, in anyway he could. There were no excuses either because the man had lived in Japan for years and should have known their system back to front. They lacked cohesion and were just shit. Fenerbache did have a decent run in the Champs league last season though, and they were quite entertaining to tell the truth. He is an unknown quantity, unproven, but is there anyone else???

It might interest you to know Russia has no missile pointed at Europe, something which cheeses the Americans off quite some. So when the U.S. go on about enlarging the def shield into Poland and CZ the Russians start to think about re- allinging thier ballistic missiles. Think about it. And prey tell, how do you know this to be fact? I believe this to be a naive thought on your part. Russia sees NATO as a threat, its government has a cold war mentality, so therefore it would be silly on their part not to have a few missiles tipped with a nuclear warhead to be aimed at NATO bases, even before the hawkish Americans decided to ask Poland and the Czechs to use it to set up a defensive missile shield.
-
Those sneaky Russians will look to provoke something again soon. Get those Tridents ready, point 50 of them at Moscow.
-
That's more like it. And I said nothing contrary to these points made by Rob in this thread. Oh Parky my lad, you have burst a blood vessel for absolutely no reason... and I wasn't even trying to get a rise out of you.

Is that what happened? The guy who couldn't spell collegiate let alone know anything about a country he has probably never been to? Anyway back on topic here, what are Russia's objectives (without resorting to CNN, BBC, Sky News etc). Is it; A. To remove the Georgian President by way of submissive force. B. To re-draw the border that divides Russia and Georgia. C. To purposely defy the USA, and the EU who have proposed the ceasefire to show it is a major player again and to demonstrate it takes orders from nobody. D. All of the above. How would you or Borat here have a fucking clue about Russia's intentions? I don't, it's mere speculation, only the Russians know what they're trying to achieve. There's no need to respond like you've been arse raped though just because a few here don't agree with you.
-
Yes I am now. We are not strong enough, even regardless of whether we gain another 2 players of repute. Facts are if we don't have a great start to the season, we will die in the arse during Christmas/New Year and we'll be in the bottom half by season's end.

A nation of fat fools. Why is it an epidemic that exists only in the UK, US, Canada and Australia?? Is it the inferior gene pool???
-
I was watching that on the telly and wasn't sure it actually happened. Citius, altius, fortius. Quite a lot fail like that, it's strange as you'd think they'd all go for a safe weight first. It's to do with countback isn't it? Is it not done by lowest body weight? Don't really know though. Video's not working. Any other links? No. Your sincerely, Ken.

I hope they research the Arctic before they drill it. Apparently the life in it has been sealed off for more than 26 million years. They found a ridge that is not volcanic, so the new earth comes directly from the core. It could give us some great insight on the beginning's of our planted. Supposedly the living creatures near the ridge will appear more like alien creatures than what we've studied on Earth. They found a fauna miles away from the ridge that was 70% different than the fauna in the Atlantic and Pacific. It's a very interesting area, so for the sake of science and our understanding, please don't ruin it. Anyways, they could divide it up and there would still be plenty of oil to make the three happy...but we're greedy creatures. Now with that sort of mentality the world would be a utopia and there would be no need for military spending. Imagine - John Lennon.

Nissan are bringing out an electric car for the American market in 2010. Should be interesting how sales/demand goes for that venture and whether it expands.

The rise of Russia is really nothing spectacular. Their economy has a false bottom and the government is fake. People see that the GDP grew, yet they fail work on the inflation and are forced freeze food prices. Not diversifying their economy is going to do them in at some point in the near future. So long as they have oil they will stay afloat. Not sure who these days has a diversifyied economy. Military arms complex yes...making bits of plastic yes... Yes. AbsolutKazakh probably knows about the topic more than I, but Russia has enormous amounts of natural resources. She can survive on this alone imo, although I have no idea how big there reserves are, but I'm pretty sure they have many untapped resources they can exploit in the future. Sure Russia may have no manufacturing industries (apart from a military one obviously) that can boost its economy like China, nor a strong finance sector but it doesn't need one. I could be wrong though. Time will tell, and if they do go bust and nationalism really gets into the psyche of the everyday Russian, we could really find ourselves in a new Cold War, if that hasn't already started already. They still have a lot of reserves and are claiming most of the Arctic, but drilling and getting those resources out is a hot mess. It requires a lot of skill and a lot of technology they don't have, which is why they call upon the West. True, and as I understand it, Canada and the USA, or should I say Canada/USA also have eyes on the arctic. Canada are already building military installations in the arctic. Could be a hotbed of a dispute in the not too distant future.
