    Man Utd

Not seen any of it yet as I was driving back from our game at Colne but the radio commentators were wanking themselves silly over Rooney's 2nd. I'll have to suffer Match of the day to see it now

Please, please tell me you don't actually believe that Nobby I've not taken notice of the last couple of seasons if they failed to sell out any game but prior to that I can count the occasions they have not sold out on one hand I suspect you've only been looking at European games. A little clue for you, Euro games have a reduced capacity as they can't sell the first 2 rows just in case somebody obscures an advertising hoarding Do you really believe that they can't sell out for Champions League games against the likes Rangers, Celtic, Real, Juve etc or that they could fail to sell out a champions league semi final
  3. In all seriousness though Gemmill, I still think he has a little to prove. He has been helped considerably by Roman's money. I'm not sure yet that he'll be able to handle real pressure. Sure he's won the Champions League whereas say Wenger hasn't but if I had a choice to manage my club I'd take Arsene over him any day of the week. I'd only rate him 4th at best in this country behind Wenger, Ferguson & Souness. Well OK then 3rd
  4. I think Mourinho's in a great position tbh. Either Abramovich stops meddling or Mourinho fucks off to a huge job elsewhere. The bloke has got the world at his feet and will have his pick of the big jobs - make no mistake, he won't be having to take whatever is available at the time, clubs will dispose of their current manager to install him. IMO. Oh yeah? he's going to be run off from Chelski - and Abramovitch won't give a toss - he can just give the next guy another £ 200 million - and Mourinho will never get that sort of money to play with anywhere else Mourinho is a little man TBH - and he's lucky that Mr A is such a forgiving type Some of his fellow countrymen would sort Djose good & proper You're not one of these idiots that thinks that as long as Abramovich is there throwing money at it, that they're guaranteed success? Chelsea are the success they are because of money AND Mourinho. Stick another manager in that job and the trophies won't come as easy. It's not just anyone that can join a new league and win it in his first season, and then retain it the next year. If Man United give them a sniff this year he'll win three on the bounce ffs. I'm no big fan of Mourinho as a man, but he's brilliant at his job, and Abramovich would do well to recognise that before he runs him out of town. As for not getting £200m somewhere else - he didn't need £200m to win the European Cup with Porto, did he? But if he did need a bit of referee's help at Old Trafford
  5. I've said it before but if a European Super League was to come into being then it should be a midweek league with the clubs remaining in their domestic league but maybe foregoing the cups. The problem with a super league which means withdrawing from domestic leagues is that it automatically becomes a closed shop, I realise that's what many clubs want but it would soon get boring without new blood. If clubs maintain their place in the domestic leagues then the winners can take their place in the super league. Scrap the Champions League completely and create a midweek super league for champions only with those clubs being exempt from domestic cup comps. That would enhance the current Uefa cup format and add some prestige to that competition. but if say Chelski, Arsenal Manure & Liverpool go into the Super League what money will come into British Football - we'd be on our way to the US and Australian Football sytems Rob, I agree if that came to pass, but what I'm advocating is a midweek superleague for the champions only with those clubs still remaining in the domestic league. In effect a glorified champions league played in league format throughout the season. The champions would probably need to forego the domestic cup comps to facilitate this but I think the game could cope with one club failing to take part in the cup comps. As Nobby suggested, we could even make one of the cups a British cup to compensate.
  6. In fairness to Mourhino, he's making an arse of himself to Abramovich for what he believes is best for Chelsea. Ferguson's spat with Magnier was personal greed pure & simple.

i wonder why? Suppose it depends on what Sima means by 'best away following'. They are certainly no better than many others in terms of numbers, paltry ticket allocations dictate that today. I think by and large they make plenty of noise but so do plenty of others. I know a few match going reds that reckon the away support now is pretty crap in comparison to a few seasons ago. Concensus of opinion is that all the new season tickets are allowing the numpties to apply for aways........... I prefer to think the more vocal have departed to FC United

Tripe. I know quite a few Man Utd fans and none of them are like that. They've also got the best away following in the country by a mile tbh I know a lot of people that support Man U, but I can't think of one that would support them if they'd won as "much" as Newcastle in their lifetime, most of them would have started being supporters after the beginning of the Ferguson era though. Couldn't agree more, anybody under say 25 should be banned from Old Trafford as they are post Fergie numpties. Come to think of it they should be banned from all grounds as they are all post sky numpties I guess you may be talking about out-of-towners here but believe me there was plenty of them before Fergie, even when in the 2nd division the London supporters branch had in excess of 1000 members, what's their excuse. You need to open your eyes mate, Man Utd were very well supported long before Ferguson appeared on the scene. A certain genius by the name of Matt Busby ensured that.
  10. Sent OK as a winrar file. Thanks for your help Gemma
  11. Shit jokes? That was a classic! Anyway FCUM do I have to ask for the THIRD time what ebook this is, or what? It's a bloody ebook, what the f*ck do you think it is I've directed you to the poker thread where I've said it's a book that will help low limit players if they follow the strategy when starting out. 19. Aaah it was a long, long time ago but I was about 14/15 and it was with the estate 'bike' who was a couple of years older but delighted in educating us young 'uns Myself and all my mates got our first from her. Only thing that sticks in my mind was that lasses were a little less 'well manicured' in those days. It was like shoving a canoe into the amazon rain forest
  20. I've not read all of this thread but if there are beginners wanting to start off playing hold 'em then drop me a PM with an email address and I'll send you an 'ebook' which will keep you out of trouble whilst you are learning the game at lower limits. Following the strategies outlined should enable you to make a steady profit at low limit but beware you will need to rethink your play once you graduate much above 5$/10$ and the play becomes a little tighter.
  21. I'd be surprised if Ronaldo didn't go if Real come in with a serious offer. Man Utd have have just announced a 50% increase in profits, up from £20 mill to £30 mill (although that's accounted for by £12 mill for nowt for Jon Obi Mikel). Sounds good on paper but not when set against the £62 mill pa interest to service the debt! Hmmm, need £62 mill to service the interest, £30 mill profits leaving a shortfall of £32 mill, Real offer £35 mill Fully expect the Man Utd propoganda machine to go into overdrive turning supporters against Ronaldo prior to a sale, just as they did with Beckham and RVN. Call me cynical

This debate has been done to death before but I think it's perfectly understandable why he chose Newcastle at the time. As has already been said it was the perfect opportunity for him at the time. You were flying high, SJH & Keegan had created a massive feelgood factor and the feeling in football at the time (not just from you lot) was that trophies were just around the corner. That must have been a dream come true for him, the chance to lead your club to their first major trophies for decades. If you think he's a hero now just imagine if he'd achieved that I suspect Gary Nev is a little more puzzled as to why he chose Blackburn when he did, as am I. OK Jack Walker was pumping big money into the club but I don't think anybody really saw them as a long term succesful club. It would have been an interesting dilemma for Shearer though. If he'd chosen Man Utd over Blackburn at the time, would he have then left Man Utd to join the Newcastle 'revival'. I guess we'll never know the answer to that one

2 lads who grew up supporting Man Utd and then then achieved their dream of playing for the club, won virtually every domestic medal in the game, can't understand why somebody would want to play for another club. Well beat me up with a shittly stick, hold the back pages what a startling revelation! Lead item on news at ten tonight for sure.
  24. Has anybody seen Dreamgirls? Missus is trying to talk me into going. I'm not really a film buff but I am a Motown fanatic and according to her indoors it's 'loosely' modelled on Berry Gordy & Diana Ross. Aye, but how 'loosely'
  25. I should probably be able to answer that, since it's five minutes form my front door, but I haven't got a clue! Out of the 6 pubs within 10 minutes walk of my house, I drink in none of them. Well, maybe the Black Horse, once a year. Well you wouldn't would ya. The monkey is full of charvas, the ship is just.....well, it's the ship Beacon is only interested in the foodies, Hunting Lodge seems the pick of bad bunch. I don't think there is a decent boozer in the Monkseaton area. WubbleUC, you will know me and my brother. FYI the Horse was run into the ground, the lad running it was stealing money out of the till and blaming new bar staff. There were a right load of tossers who thought they were gangsters running card schools, dealing drugs and doing what the fuck they wanted. A lad called Cliff took over last year, he used to the door at rogues / vagabonds in whitley years ago. He ended up running a proper hard nuts pub in the town and earnt his spurs as it were. Cleaned it right up and its got a good vibe going on again, i was in on the sunday after west ham and i saw people that hadnt been in for 15 years. My parents live next door, where i grew up. The Horse and the Beacon was where i drank as a young un, sometimes the Hunting lodge. Aye, thats what I'd heard. A few of Shields finest found there way there after he bought it. You not talking about T**n nicking the money are you? He always seemed sound when I went in. I'll have a look down now it's re-opened, I know a few lads drank in there, they've probably drifted back now if it's re-opened. I used to play football for the Beacon back in the late 1970s when John Bird managed the team. We had a half decent team and it was a good boozer then.
