  1. This a quote by Hitler before he came to power (lifted from an article by Adrian Chiles believe it or not) “It makes no difference whatever whether they laugh at us or revile us … whether they represent us as clowns or criminals; the main thing is that they mention us, that they concern themselves with us again and again …”
  2. Well we voted for Brexit and Boris Johnson Propaganda works, and sadly both Johnson and Trump have charisma. Add in unlimited dark funding and its a dangerous cocktail
  3. He can only do it if they win the trifecta of presidency House and senate. But if that happens they will trot out the old "see the system is working, checks and balances" argument and leave everything the same As I said they are playing a different game
  4. It's worse now but the Republicans have been playing a long long game with the Supreme Court. They realised a long time ago that control the SC and the judiciary and you control the country You had the stolen election for Bush from Gore, which they managed to rule on in just 1 day back in 2000. They blocked Obama from appointing a justice because he was in his last year of office, then voted Amy Comey Barret in when Trump was in his last weeks The Republicans have beaten the Dems in a game the Dems didn't even realise they were playing. And now they have a generational far right nutter majority. Biden had the Presidency the House and the Senate and could have increased the number of justices to give a "progressive" majority, but the Dems are following norms and playing by the rules. They're fucked
  5. I always get free poppadoms from our local takeaway. Probably because I've been going there for 25 years. If you assume 3 visits per month, average £25 quid spend that horrifyingly seems to be close on 25k And that's more than likely an underestimate
  6. It's almost exactly how far away the moon is I barely ever got it serviced, and apart from brakes and a battery I think the only thing that ever had to get fixed was the front driving rod. I've barely driven it since I got made redundant, I think today was the first time I've started it all year. Still started first time. I felt a little pang as I handed the keys to the breaker
  7. Scrapped my Ford Focus today. Bought with 4k miles in 2008 Stuck with the wife's fiat500 now
  8. Her arse would play everyone onside st the other end
  9. You're blaming Corbyn for Labour rejecting this, we are through the looking glass here
  10. Just all so fucking depressing. I fucking despise the Tories and can't imagine not voting against them, but Labour instantly dismissing this sort of proposal just makes me wonder what's the point https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2024/apr/19/sunak-rejects-offer-of-mobility-scheme-for-young-people-between-eu-and-uk
  11. My daughter has just been refused PIP as they don't accept that she is unfit to work even though she was medically retired from her job at PHE as she was unable to work, evidence she produced along with her Dr's statement that she was unfit to work. Just a straight your application is declined. Still waiting for UB after 2 months
  12. @wykikitoon finally has a good word for someone and they're a fucking Tory MP
  13. That's fantastic thanks. I used to love Alan Knott btw
  14. @wykikitoon your boy just played a blinder in the Amstel Gold The finish of the lasses race was fucking hilarious. Wiebes crossing the line arms aloft only to let Voss to steal on the line
  15. Hamas are Netenyahu's puppets as much as Irans
  16. Iran had to be seen to respond to the Isreali attack otherwise they would have seen to be incredibly weak The response they had, using drones and missiles that take hours to hit their targets and are relatively easily to knock out is hopefully more of a face saving response for a domestic audience than a genuine step towards all out war. It remains to be seen what Bibi's response is
  17. I think this is completely wrong. I can't speak for anybody else but I am desperate for them to succeed. Blair always said NewLabours biggest failing was being to timid early on. In reality Starmer can't lose this election, even if the margin narrows. The country needs radical action to recover from the last 14 years. You mention PR but also nationalise the utilities a wealth tax, actually invest in the green new deal rather than scrap it, reengage fully with Europe, not to mention Gaza. There will never be a better time to do it. I just hope Starmer proves me wrong
  18. I'm just coming from a position that it's wrong to sell arms that are being used in a genocide. Don't think it's a particularly vote losing policy and I genuinely think it might be a net gain. Maybe I'm not cynical enough yet
