  1. Say Nothing True story of two sisters who were in the IRA and the disappearing of a mother of 10 in the Troubles I thought it was superb, though I'm sure it's portrayal won't be uniformly popular The performance of the actors who played the two young sisters were stunning. The actor who played Gerry Adams was unrecognisable from dumb Marco in the Responder It seemed quite an honest account to me, I read somewhere it was shown as more of a class struggle than a religous one, not a point of view you see very often on British TV I followed it straight away with "I Dolours" that interviews one of the protagonists
  2. Yeah this is bollocks. It's not a right wing narrative to think he should stand up to the press. Its not a right wing narrative to think this along with leaving the 2 child cap, raising bus fares, and losing the winter fuel allowance is terrible politics. Even the stuff I agree with like the inheritance tax on farms they've framed in such an amateurish way its allowed the press to attack Its not a right wing narrative to call out his cowardice in refusing to be honest about Brexit. I'm desperate for Labour to succeed. We need him to be better, for them to have any chance of turning this shit show round. If they dont christ knows what will happen at the next election He's got a fucking massive majority, he needs to use it I just don't get this attitude that any criticism isn't allowed and is playing to a right-wing narrative, if anyone is enabling a right wing narrative its him
  3. Not only that she had already told Starmer about it before she was appointed. He should have refused to accept her resignation I've said it before, but the bloke is a coward. Also bizarrely seems to lack any political sense, it's been one avoidable own goal after another since the election
  4. Yep Trump is a definite respecter of norms and tradition

  8. Well we can agree to disagree on that one Thinking back there was just so much stuff going on that I found more interesting Also all that mod union jack stuff really fucked me off, and the majority of their fans (at the time in my opinion) were sheep
  9. Slow Horses is magnificent and gets better and better @Renton start it immediately
  10. I was never a Jam fan tbh. I had tickets to see them at the Rainbow in Finsbury Park in 1979. I got as far as the George Robey the pub across the road and couldn't be bothered going in
  11. It's bleak but it's absolutely fucking beautiful.a quote from Lol Tolhurst I read has always stuck with me about the Cure Really seems apt here
  12. Watch out Albert there's a new sheriff in town

  15. I don't think that's true. Obama got elected on the promise of socialised health care and ended up compromising so far that he ended up with Mitt Rodney's plan. The right tried to demonise it calling it Obamacare but people really didn't want to give it up it so it didn't work Another example of Dems breaking their promises The "left" parties need some courage, and need to act when they get the chance. Labour has that chance now
