Ok, putting aside the likelihood of these carachters arriving, where do we all stand on the various contenders real or imaginary. imo Houllier too old too boring likely a disaster Deschamps I have no idea if he is any good or not, no excitement at the prospect Van Gaal cunt - no thanks Hughes initially rejected out of hand, now would be very happy Keegan trepidatious but i would love to see it happen Shearer & Keegan the outcome that excites me like a five year old, hilarious magnificent and stupid at the same time Shearer not as risky as people make out, he has enough sense to get the right people in, i would be happy Hitzfeld likely disaster Mourinho ldo Abel Braga lol I am surprised that I seem to not like any foreign coaches (apart from Mourinho) and even moresurprised how keen I am on Hughes
-
The big plus for Hughes as far as I am concerned is his age. Shearer excepted everbody else touted can hardly be described as young hungry and up and coming, Hughes is 44, had Wales (WALES!!) overacheiving and does seem to have made steady progress with Blackburn. Houlier, Van Gaal and the rest of the usual suspects all seem like a jaded option to me. For Hughes its a step up he seems to want to take, and his career does appear to be on an upward trajectory. Added to the fact(well it was in the paper)that he and Ashley already have a good existing relationship (Some Ashley advertising/sponsoring invlving Hughes cant really remember) and that he does seem to know what he is doing, quietly building a pogressive coherent committed team....... I seem to have talked myself into it Sparky - come on down

Needle in a haystack - the velvettes I have sung that solidly for hours on car journeys before doolangdoolangdoolangdoolang The Magnificent Seven by the Clash, I think it is neurologically impossible for me not to be off as soon as I hear RING RING Seven am...... and we wanna get loaded and have a good time. There is also some LuvDUp fantazia cd that includes KeyAura HotDog and Chris & James Calm Down amongst others that I (and others) listened to on repeat for 12 hours straigt once -
OK Colour me Chav and point me at the nearest Sky Sports Camera I am nailing my colours to the mast - I am sitting grinning at the prospect (I do a have a couple on board) Lets be honest it would be frenzy, and I am now at the stage where anything else will be a disapointment (the special one excepted ldo) its so crazy its brilliant, come on Ashley - roll your hat!

Shearer would accept the job if offered
spongebob toonpants replied to Jimbo's topic in Newcastle Forum
Ive got to be honest, and its really quite embarresing, but the thought of Keegan and Shearer does actually make me come over like a five year old on christmas eve. In reality though I have been wondering if a Newell/Shearer partnership might work -
I suppose I should watch... not looking forward to this

Does anyone actually want to come?
spongebob toonpants replied to Scottish Mag's topic in Newcastle Forum
I could understand that if it weren't for the fact that Pompey are a win away from 6th even after only winning 2 home games so far this season. Added to rejections from Bruce, O'Neil and Hughes maybe, all most likely ambitious managers. We are a lot more attractive now than we were under Freddie Shepperd. Old old news obv but sacking SBR 4 games into the season cut the options then he chose the wrong one. He still managed to get Allerdyce who was highly rated(especially by himself) -
Thats plain wrong - much better with a caretaker than a lame duck, especially a lame duck in sam allerdyce form.

Mort has me block booked for all team talks until we can capture Hodgson from Fulham. You should request a username change to MORT imo. It would suit you perfectly and be a constantly funny joke

The best managers have huge self confidence and want to prove they are the best. Now that FS and all his baggage has gone any manager would love to be able to claim they were the one who was good enough to solve the Newcastle problem. Added to the stadium the huge crowds and the amount we pay I dont think we will have a problem attracting the caliber of manager we desire. Lets just see if Asley/Mort have the vision and persuasive powers to make it happen Rednapp it seems was in a gnats pube of joining and look how easy his life is at the moment. Added to the fact he is 60. I guarantee he will regret his decision when he finishes his career as well. Now he will never know if he was good enough -
What I like about Rico is his unfailling ability to find the positives in any situation. Have you ever considered motivational speaking as a career - you would be mint

Does Mike Ashley read this forum?
spongebob toonpants replied to uguysarefunny's topic in Newcastle Forum
Yes of course he reads the boards. yer self made billionaires all tend to spend a lot of time dicking about on message boards-especially when they are pretending to be busy -
Ive got no problem with the timing of the sacking, as I said pre sacking either suppot him and bring in new players to improve the squad or sack him. They had no confidence in the players he wanted or his ability to improve the team so they got rid. Its not as if Sam was likely to get many points from or upcoming raft of fixtures anyway. This season is already a write off, esp with the facup draw, and we will have to really go some to get relegated so I think the sacking is fine. I dont even think there is any reason to rush in appointing the next bloke. I have no real reason so far to feel concerned
-
So we now basically just appoint the English manager who is most upset after not getting the England job.

Nothing wrong with that article imo. I am getting quite the swell of liking for old 'arry
