I'm not going to read this thread -I imagine I have a pretty good idea of whats been said, but if this season does exceed expectation, and Carrol/Arfa/Tiote do actually perform as well as optomism allows Ashley will be selling them at a profit without a doubt. Anybody who thinks his plan is anything other than survival and selling players at a profit is an idiot. And after last season Ashley probably doesnt even see relegation as a problem as he will imagine promotion will automatically follow' with the remaining big contracts run down bloke will always be a cunt and we won't have any chance of a decent future until he is gone

I'm pleased actually - he's more in tune with the way I think than his brother. I'm not going to be down about the press bashing him -that would happen whichever candidate won, at least he will be arguing for an economic policy that is a genuine alternative, and that is what I think the Labour Party needs to do at the moment. -

Was too entrenched with Brown IMO. The party wants a change. Yes, probably too closely linked to Brown in the eyes of the media and the public to be electable, but for me he has challenged the "there is no alternative" mantra being peddled by the coalition and reinforced by most of the press in the most cogent fashion. Ed B has also at least tried to give the alternative economic argument, David M not so much. Ed does look at bit "special" though -

I hope Redknapp gets it. I hate the dodgy rentaquote twat, but it seems a win win to me. If England actually do well then fair enough-I could get over my dislike and still enjoy England being successful. If he fails then the fall from grace would obviously be marvelous -
Frank Clark - My Dad used to tell me he only got in the team because he did Joe Harvey's gardening at least 5 times a match. He wasn't so much a victim of the boo-boys more the grumblers Finally left after after about 15 years, out to the knackers yard at last according to my Pa. Then managed to fit in A Championship European Cup and a few League cup wins. Not bad for a past it donkey. Owner of my favourite song ever mind Frank Clark knew my father, father new Frank Clark

what was that mate ? Man City at home November 1968. We won 1-0. Wynn the leap scored with a header from a corner. I'd be lying if I said I remembered that Sinclair took the corner, but there's got to be a good chance he set up the fist goal I ever saw. Don't know how you embed youtube but see what he did against them 6 months earlier at 1:06. Quality. All the old blues I speak to talk about this game (understandably). Last game my dad saw too before moving to Manchester for university. Have always loved this footage. Thanks for that - Great goal - Fantastic atmosphere. I dont want to come the old codger, but the sound that used to come from the ground, and the Leazes in particular was like nothing you've ever heard. I lived in Low Fell and you could hear when we'd scored. I remember playing football in the park when that game as on, with everyone trying to work out the score from the crowd noises. iirc there was 4 teams in with a chance of winnng the league going into that game Then when I got to go to my first game the noise was just incredible. They ripped the heart out of the club when the Leazes came down. Even when KK and SBR had the team flying it never felt quite the same.
