  1. The contract negotiations were happening a couple of months into the contract because there was an offer elsewhere of much bigger money. The length of time into the contract is irrelevant, his worth was redefined by what LFC were going to be willing to pay him. The Torres deal had been under negotiation for a couple of weeks, so had this one obviously The club wanted to keep him so were happy to renegotiate until £35m was on the table at which point they told him no new contract, get fucked - so he did. Maybe the club would have upped his contract if the offer wasn't big enough, maybe it was all a ploy to drive up the price
  2. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/fe...ig-step-forward Discussed for two weeks, while Liverpool let it be known they are interested in AC and would be paying him 85k per week. Ashley/LLambias lead Carroll on into thinking they want him to stay saying they will give him a better contract, then at the last minute they say actually know we want to accept this offer. Agent goes we cant take this big man they are taking the piss lets get on the plane to the pool. Before the cogs in his brain have had time to work it out hes handed a request in got to Liverpool and its all over. This is the truth I am choosing to believe
  3. From his agent. It wouldn't be hard to persuade him that he was being dicked about - I imagine the players think Ashley/Llambias are cunts just as much as we do
  4. Yep thats the way contract negotiations work - Pardew and the player thrash it out between them and then the agents and aashley sign what they agree to

  6. On the bright side we will be laughing when the EUFA financial fair play rules come in - us and Arsenal take on all comers
  7. Nobody turned up because the whole thing is a fucking joke that is never going to achieve anything. Nice strop though
  8. Beardsley Waddle and Gazza all went in much the same circumstances. A bit of initial anger soon blows over Similar but not the same. The wages that Carroll was on here were still astronomical compared to most normal people; comparatively speaking, the three you mentioned weren't on anything like that sort of money. We sold Gazza for £2m. They all left for clubs who had more ambition. They were all already earning more money than most people could dream of, but not as much as they would earn elsewhere. Seems pretty much the same to me, and speaking as somebody who is old enough to have been there it feels pretty much exactly the same as well. I got a text earlier from someone who has lived through this before who said the wheel has now turned full circle. This leaves us much closer to where we were pre Keegan than even the relegation
  9. I doubt he's thought that far ahead. He probably doesn't think further than the end of his cock actually.
  10. Apparently contracts don't mean shit anyways if the right money comes in Means a lot to the transfer fee. Will JB still take a pay cut or will the Bosman start to look a bit more interesting

  12. So has Joey actually signed this new contract - my google skills say not. It will be interesting to see if he stilll thinks club going in right direction
  13. Even assuming that it's true. Why would Carroll beg? All he has to say is that he isn't interested and he's not moving. Is Ashley now Tony Soprano? I was wondering about that actually. I mean Carroll signed a new deal last October didn't he? If he had said 'no' then surely that would be the end of it, it's not like he'd have been chucked in the reserves because as a club we'd have tried to keep his appeal to potential buyers come the summer. I don't know, he didn't look exactly upset in the pics of him arriving at Liverpool tbh. I'd think it's more likely Ashley wanted the money and so did Carroll, they're probably both as bad as each other when it comes to shitting on the fans - in the cold light of day unless you're already on a tidy wedge you're not going to turn down a pay rise of the sort I suspect Carroll's going to be getting at Liverpool. the new deal in october put his price up -that is all
  14. I can't blame the club too much, it was massive money and we all know what Ashley is like. I'm just disappointed that Carroll didn't fight it is all. You can't blame the club because you know what Ashley is like??? What the fact he is a shyster gives him a free pass -bizzarro £35m with a couple of people saying the deal is £40m. Its an unreal amount of money and who knows what the Swedish specialist said. What was your price? Mine was £30m before today. I think it's a good deal but bad business if that makes any sense. In isolation £35m is too much to turn down, however I think its obvious the deal hasn't come out of the blue- but we are left with Shola Best Lovelyhands and Ranger as our strike force. What it says to other clubs is Jose Tiote Ben Arfa JB etc is that we will sell anybody, no matter what the noises from above say, and it says to them to fulfill their potential they need to move on aswell. We have had some good transfer windows of late - this one not so much.
  15. If the money isn't re-invested in the summer then it'll be clear to them what sort of a club we've become. As if the appointment of Pardew wasn't enough. If it's not clear already it will never be.

  17. Tbf there'll be no one sicker about this than Leazes. Get fucked man he'll be gloating about it for months. "Are you learning yet lad". He thinks Ashley fucking up makes Shepherd great, his very basic logic will conclude nothing else. Notwithstanding whatever anyone thinks about Shepherd..........we are a selling club, and we do lack ambition. I think this transfer window proves that and I expect that most of the Carroll money will disappear into fatty's pocket. Not really fair to say we are a selling club. 35m is crazy money. More to the point we are not a buying club! Phil, to my mind we're a selling club when we flog one of our best players to one of the "big boys" without any plans whatsoever to replace his goals. So we massively weaken our first team at the worst possible time simply because we get a great offer for him. I don't have a problem with selling him as everyone has their price and I agree it's crazy money....but not reinvesting straightaway in a top notch replacement says selling club to me. Are you deluded? He got sold today with barely any time left. There was a lack of planning and being prepared for such a massive bid but no-one really expected it. Don't get me wrong, I hate Ashley but we will only be a selling club; if come the summer, we haven't spent nee-enough £40million (i.e reinvest the money). Until then, it is an unfair general statement to make. Thats laughable to be honest - the reason he was sold so late is so we didnt have time to spend any money. "No-one really expected it" and you call somebody else deluded
  18. Errr aye, we know this. No one is saying he was manipulated into going. He was happy to go, and happy to submit a request to smooth things over here. Actually I am saying he was manipulated into going. Once we got to where we were today he was happy to go along with the coreography-but I doubt he was behind it I don't think he would have gone without the club teeing the transfer up. But I think once it was all put in place he was happy enough to go. So he's gone from delighted to stay at Newcastle to delighted to be going to Liverpool. Have you just got him down as some happy-clappy divvy not arsed where he plays? Read what I've just posted. Fucking hell man, I don't even know what point you're trying to make. What I've just posted sums up what I'm saying on it. Just trying to understand the positions people are taking and what they're based on. No point to make really, other than i look like a tit for being sure he would stay. I actually think I'm going to wake up tomorrow and think we've mugged Liverpool. I think there has got to be a fair chance he's going to piss his career up he wall. Also a significantly more than zero probability that Liverpool is the worst possible city for him to go to. Theres going to plenty of scousers willing to have a go. With any luck it will all go horribly wrong
  19. Mind you if Kenny Daglish's ability to buy a good striker is the same as he showed when he was here then Carrols career is fucked. Guivarche, Anderson, Saha, Disco Des....
