1. Main problem with the 3, 2 or 1 marks is that there will be games where they all play well, and some who gets a 7 out of 10 may be one of the worst players that game. On the otherhand, there's plenty of games where 6 or 7 is as good as it gets. Basically, I think an average rating each game would be the best way of doing it.
2. Of course it's the players but it doesn't help being sent out with no game plan and as we all know that's the managers responsibility. 66685 Yeah, I know that, but was there honestly any difference in gameplan between the Villa & Arsenal games? I couldn't see any difference, just the players played 10x better yesterday in general.
3. So are you admitting that it's the players too, and not just the manager? Because I didn't see a lot of difference in tactics today, as what I saw the previous week, difference was, we had players performing well individually.
4. Boro's defeat means we're now in the top 10 again.
5. All I'll say about Keegan is the same as what I've said about a few others. What did he do better in his last job than what Souness did in his?
6. I still reckon 87 of the 92 league clubs would swap their accounts with ours.
7. Were we a better side than them though on Saturday? I'd have taken Hughes, Bouma, Mellberg, McCann, Angel & Baros ahead of Ramage, Bramble, Boumsong, Faye, Shearer & Chopra that's for sure.
8. 65025 Okay, I badly worded that one. What I mean is I don't think there's a British manager bar those two (and O'Neill ) who would take us upto the next level. You could argue the likes of Burley, Jewell, Allardyce, Curbishley, etc. are better managers than Souness, but I'm not convinced they could get us into the top 4 or 5 year in, year out, whereas I believe someone like Deschamps, Le Guen, Hitzfeld, even Ranieri, could.
9. I thought Martin O'Neill was taking a year out from football though because of his wife? If he was available, then yes, I'd take him.
10. Is he that much more qualified than these British managers you say are not up to the job? 65028 A couple of top 3 finishes in France & a Champions League Final. I'd say yeah.
11. I'm against him. Just answering a couple of posts comparing Souey & Burley. One being when has Souness ever over-achieved, I gave two examples, another listing two examples of bad buys he made when he finally got money at that job, so I did the same with Burley. I don't think, unless we get Pearce or Ferguson, we'll find a better British manager than Souness...which is a damning criticism of the state of our managers. We have to look abroad.
12. Which also coincides with him receiving an increase in transfer funds after their 6th place - 64972 Matteo Sereni? Finidi George?
13. Any help would be appreciated Grass considering it was once your baby and afterall you are the Freddy Shepherd of the Forum world 64800 You mean he slags off all his members and sleeps with foreign forums?
14. Rare? Most managers outside of the Premiership can do that. Mick McCarthy doon the road ring a bell? Sorry but he's shite. Not good enough for Newcastle. Championship or SPL is about his level. That and spirits. 64844 Have you been on the Jesus juice too ? 64850 Did thick Mick not improve a bunch of free transfers, youngsters and bargain bin signings and take them up into the Premiership? The thing you also claim Burley can do? 64868 Was promotion with Sunderland such a great achievement ? Burley got Ipswich promoted. Burley took Ipswich into Europe in a season most predicted relegation Burley took Derby to the playoffs in a season most predicted relegation and barely spent a penny. And wasn't doing too bad with Hearts before he left. 64873 That's no better than Souness' record. 64940 The point I was making is that Burley has over-achieved where ever he has been as manager, has Souness ?? 64957 Winning a trophy in his first year after promotion before leading them to 6th spot?
15. http://www.skybet.com/skybet?action=GoEvType&id=10002896 Yep. And Harry Redknapp has just entered into the "100/1" category.
16. I think if he was going to get the sack before the Arsenal match it would have been today...unless Shepherd is actually doing a real search for a new manager this time and will sack him as soon as he's found one.
17. Souness, Robson & Burley all 100/1 shots for the Real Madrid job. Gullit 4/1 second favourite.
18. Very probable! Is Brian Laws still boss? (was he ever even boss)
19. And the alternative is slagging him off and playing Elliott full-time.
20. I wouldn't trust us against anyone in the top 3 divisions tbh.
21. No chance of Hiddink. It'd be hard enough getting him if he had just one job, but when he's balancing PSV with Australia, no chance.
