  1. How lucky can we get, playing against Davenport two league games in a row!
  2. Fair point. And didn't the Man U kids get a 4-1 tonking at Villa on the opening day of the "12-point gap" season? Then again, our youngsters are nowhere near that standard. They're not even as good as the lot that came through early 90s. (Watson, Elliott, Clark, Howey, Thompson)
  3. Souness won a cup and took Blackburn to the top 6. Hardly a success though.
  4. Yeah, he said it after the Owen signing on Solano. "We're not going for Solano, but this morning I said I loved my wife"...erm, rightio Fred.
  5. That's what happens though sadly. Do people honestly think Shearer would have got away with the Lennon incident if he wasn't about to lead his country into the World Cup a few months later?
  6. Newcastle 0-1 Partizan Belgrade. The beginning of the end for Sir Bobby.
  7. "They say you should only say good things about people when they're gone. Marcelino's gone. Good". (also said it when Robert left, and will no doubt repeat it when Babayaro, Luque, etc. go too.)
  8. I would't add that. I came out of that one thinking the same as everyone else: how can we have played so well but lost 4-1? It was insane. As I said in another thread, the Villa match was horrific in terms of performance, the sendings off, the booing of O'Brien, the fight, Taylor's ludicrous handball. Awful. Aye, I suppose, 'played so well' is overdoing it like. Agree about Villa at home though. Didn't we have 20+ shots ON TARGET alone in that game? Was just a freak amazing performance from Crossley. Think he saved two with his face from Kluivert.
  9. But will Shearer be willing to leave the BBC after just one year though?
  10. Was still only 1,000 less than Spurs got, and I bet Cardiff took a lot more fans to White Hart Lane than what Birmingham brought up here.
  11. It's not Renton's job to think of someone else tbh.
  12. If we're on a tight budget, what good defenders does he actually think he can bring in on the cheap? If he was going for the likes of Ben Haim, Neill & Distin, fair enough. But can you honestly see Glenn going for any? We supposedly made a last-ditch bid for Neill in the summer. So why the f*ck hasn't he followed it up this month?
  13. If it's a write-off, then surely it's better to replace Glenn this season, let the new manager come in sharpish, see who the crap is, see who he likes, then he has a full summer to do what he wants.
  14. The freak result came at Spurs. That should really have been the same.
  15. "I could easily go out and buy a couple of defenders who are the wrong side of 30, but that's the road to nowhere" - Roeder today. What a pleb.
  16. At least we won't get to the latter stages as usual, build our hopes up once one or two more big clubs get knocked out, and then have them flattened when we get an away trip to Arsenal or Chelsea in the last 16 or last 8.
  17. Actually agree there. How many (if any) of them have produced a performance that's made you think, "Wow, he should be a regular even when XXXX comes back from injury."?
  18. He won't...but neither will Carroll, Pattison or O'Brien.
  19. Hmm, I'd sooner get thumped off a team much better than us, than hammered off a side in a lower league!
  20. Tbh, we should have in all honestly been thumped on Sunday too.
  21. My dad took the neighbours' 9 year old son tonight. What a great memory he will have of his first ever match.
  22. I've never laughed at a goal being conceded, but I did literally laugh when the 5th went in. Was pathetic.
  23. But, but...THE YOUNG LADS TRY HARD IN TRAINING?!!!111
  24. My pre-match prediction of 1-1 with us losing on penalties is just a distant pipe dream.
