would ya really want zoggy to go after his performance on saturday no; not at all. if we lose him as well as dyer we're going struggle for pace on the flanks next season. but if he does go, boupa dioup would probable be the best of fulham's players to part exchange with. ayee i agree with that

Newcastle United's summer signing David Rozehnal is struggling with a groin injury, but should be fit for the start of the new season. The Czech Republic international, who has played in all four of The Magpies' pre-season fixtures, is currently undergoing treatment on the strain. The former PSG stopper is happy with his displays for Sam Allardyce's troops and believes he has coped with the physical demands of English football. "My only problem is that I have a got a small groin strain, but I'm working with the doctors to get it better," he told Sport. "I think I've done well in the friendlies. In all of them I was playing from the first minute and I would say I have stood my ground. "In the first game I felt the toughness. It won't all be about toughness, it'll be about strength, aggression over the first five metres and an intense tempo. "I know the player I am and I know my weak and strong points. I feel that I can cope. I have improved my fitness a lot." Rozehnal believes he is settling well at St James' due to the vast spectrum of ages and nationalities of players at the North East outfit. "We are mixed in terms of age and nationality. I always have someone to talk to," he continued. "We don't have any prima donnas which would spoil the team spirit, which is good."

Sam Allardyce has laughed off press reports claiming Obafemi Martins will be sold to raise transfer funds at Newcastle. The Nigerian striker was rumoured to be on his way out of St James' Park to allow Allardyce to strengthen in other areas. However, the Magpies boss has moved to vehemently deny any truth in the story, although his search for reinforcements continues. "This story is complete and utter fabrication. There's nothing in it whatsoever," Allardyce told the club's official website. Martins scored 17 goals in his first season with Newcastle following his arrival from Internazionale for £10million last summer. Meanwhile, Fulham are believed to have opened talks with Newcastle over midfielder Charles N'Zogbia. Allardyce is looking to land Papa Bouba Diop as part of any deal but it is yet to be seen whether Lawrie Sanchez will be open to a swap. Good of Big Sam to come out and rubbish the reports

Claudio Ranieri has defended Gianluigi Buffon after the goalkeeper clattered into Andy Carroll in Juventus' friendly defeat to Newcastle. Sam Allardyce was left fuming at the Italian international following the incident, which he claims could have seriously injured the teenage striker. Buffon charged out of his box with knees and elbows raised, and crashed straight into Carroll shortly after his goal had put The Magpies 2-0 up. Allardyce rushed from the stands to remonstrate with referee Mark Clattenburg, but Juve coach Ranieri insists the reckless challenge was not intentional on Buffon's part. "Gianluigi is a gentleman," Ranieri told Italian press. "It was an accident. He was only thinking of blocking the ball."

Albert Luque is hoping for a fresh start at Newcastle under new manager Sam Allardyce. The Spanish attacker has not enjoyed the best of times at St James' Park since his £9.5million move from Deportivo La Coruna in 2005. Luque has failed to hold down a place in the Newcastle first team and has managed only 14 starts in his first two seasons. However, the 29-year-old has made a positive start to Newcastle's pre-season. Luque has chipped in with three goals in two outings, against Celtic and Juventus, as Newcastle warm up for the kick-off of the Premier League next month and he admits his confidence and fitness are returning. "This year with Sam my fitness is better," Luque told Newcastle's official website. "I need confidence so the goals for me are important. Now I need more training, more fitness and it will be better for me and for the team. "At the moment my fitness is the best it's been. Now I want to keep it like that. "I work on the training ground so when I play in the matches my fitness is better and I have more options on the pitch. "I want to play well all the time. When I have a chance it is important to play well and score goals. "For me it's an important year. The last two years have been very bad for me and I don't want one more year in the same situation."

Sam Allardyce claims Andy Carroll was 'lucky' not to suffer a serious injury after being clattered by Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon. Carroll scored in Newcastle United's 2-0 friendly win at St James' Park, but was also on the receiving end of a reckless challenge from Buffon. The Italian keeper charged out of his box with knees and elbows raised, and crashed straight into the teenage striker, with Allardyce unhappy with the incident. "That was as bad as Harald Schumacher's challenge on Patrick Battiston in the 1982 World Cup," said Allardyce after the game. "It was more like common assault than anything you expect to see on a football field. Andy was lucky not to end up in hospital. "He is a young lad who must have been thrilled at scoring against a team like Juventus, but it could all have turned very sour for him." Meanwhile, Allardyce is unaware of any plans for new Magpies owner Mike Ashley to appoint a director of football. Reports have claimed that former manager Kevin Keegan has been lined up for a return to Tyneside, but Allardyce is understood to be lukewarm to the idea. He added: "I've no idea what the club's thoughts are in that department. "It hasn't come up, but if it does I'll make my views known in private."

just a difference of opinion, i dont think he wins a lot of headers for how tall he is and obviously he thinks the opposite so no need to say am talking shit just because you dont agree....arsehole

Same as Ameobe, tall but no height to his game. I was at the game and Carroll won every ball that came to him. Made himself big & composed when the ball came his way while being marked. He looks very promosing. not saying he doesn't look promising but he jumps up and most of the time either pushes the player out of the way and concedes a foul or gets beat which for me personally is very disappointing for how tall he is Well at today’s game I didn't see any of that. There wasn't any fouls given against him. He made his presence known like Shearer used to. Was solid, but just didn't really have that support in the 2nd half despite winning every ball. your comparing him to Shearer already and yeh i agree he didnt have any support in the second half and always pushed a player away when he went for a header You make it sound like he's super human because I've compared one aspect of his game to Shearer's Seriously, what does it matter whether you see him push a player or stick his elbows out to win a ball when a foul is not given? A defender would be making it a hell of a lot more obvious the other way around. Shearer got away with it the majority of time as did Carroll tonight. I think it's good to see a player committed to winning the ball, especially up front. ill leave it here shall i...just hope we send him away on load so he gets more experience

Claudio Cacapa is a decent defender would defiantly be worth going for.

Sam Allardyce remains adamant in his view that Kieron Dyer will leave Newcastle, despite the midfielder's bright cameo in Sunday's 2-0 victory over Juventus. The England international wants to move on from the North East club for personal reasons, in news that has reportedly alerted West Ham, Tottenham and Manchester City. Dyer's introduction from the substitutes' bench in the second half caught the eye but Allardyce remains steadfast in his assessment of the situation. "He played very well. But I don't think we can (keep him) for the reasons I gave on Thursday," said Allardyce. "The only way I can see to resolve this is for Kieron to move closer to his family. "Nobody has come in with the right money yet. Nobody has offered anything like the money we want. "If they don't come in (with the right offer) then all I can do is sit down with Kieron and see if there's something else we can do. "We used him for 45 minutes today because we were short of numbers." While Dyer's days at St James' Park appear to be numbered, Alberto Luque, previously an expensive flop, looks to have been handed a reprieve. It looked almost certain that the Spanish forward would be shown the exit door, having failed to replicate anything like his best form since moving to the club from Deportivo La Coruna but under Allardyce, thus far, he has put in an impressive pre-season. "Hopefully, if he can stay fit he could play a part." Luque scored the game's opening goal from the penalty spot, before being replaced on the half hour mark, but Allardyce has been reassured the injury is not serious. "The only negative thing today was Albert coming off. But he assures me it's just a tightening (of the muscle)," the former Bolton chief concluded. Luque injured again

Was a good match even though Juve were shit, zoggy played well in the center. Carrol did look a decent player but what pisses me of about him hes 6ft 4 and most of the time he cant win headers.

Shay Given believes Newcastle United need to bolster their squad, particularly their defence. The Republic of Ireland international, who joined the club back in 1997, says he has never seen The Magpies' squad so depleted. Newcastle have lost the likes of Olivier Bernard, Craig Moore, Oguchi Onyewu and Titus Bramble this summer as Sam Allardyce reshapes his squad. Given has now called on the former Bolton boss to splash the cash, with adding defenders to Newcastle's squad the priority. "The squad's been the lightest it's been for as long as I can remember," Given told the Journal. "It's important we get some players in but the manager knows that. "Offensively we're as strong as most clubs. But we don't have too many defenders. "We need to improve on last season, because our finish was a big disappointment.

Newcastle United misfit Albert Luque is hoping for a chance to shine this season under new manager Sam Allardyce. The Spanish forward was brought to The Magpies by Graeme Souness, although he rarely featured and that trend continued under Glenn Roeder. With former Bolton boss Allardyce now at St James' Park the ex-Deportivo La Coruna ace simply wants a run in the side to show what he can do. "I'm happy, but I'm very demanding with myself and I know I can give more on the pitch," stated Luque. "I am perhaps having the best feeling since I arrived at Newcastle and I only ask that they give me opportunities. "I have had a good understanding with the new trainer since his arrival. I believe I am demonstrating what I can do, little by little. "But my problems at Newcastle have not been due to lack of communication with the different trainers, but simply that I have not had enough continuity in the team."

That and we were blatently taking the piss. thats what i thought as well because it seemed as though we had a shirt and everything ready for him
