Michael Owen has admitted he is growing tired of speculation linking him with a move away from Newcastle. There have been reports about the England striker's future almost from the moment he joined The Magpies two years ago. He has been linked with most of the Premier League's top clubs and concedes there is a release clause in his contract. But Owen is adamant that he does not have an agenda against the club and is committed to staying in the North East. "I've only been at Newcastle two years and the speculation's been unbelievable," he told the News of the World. "At the end of every season, people were asking 'Is Michael Owen going to stay or not?' "I live up there and my kids have been to school up there for two years. There is this perception that I divide my life between living in the North West and Newcastle. "A lot think there's an agenda but there's not. "There was a release clause in my contract that no one was supposed to be privy to but if people go and mention that I can't help it."

SAM Allardyce says that Brazilian defender Cacapa is fit and ready for the rigours of the Premiership after making his United debut at the weekend. The 31-year-old centre-back became the club's 1,000th player during his three-minute appearance in the closing stages of Saturday's goalless draw with Aston Villa. And when Big Sam was pressed about the Brazilian flair which Cacapa could bring to the team, he retorted: "I didn't buy him for that! "I bought him for the experience and the rock that he is at the back. "His passing and control is an extra bonus. "His defending against Newcastle Blue Star was superb, and that's what he's for. He's a destroyer - not a creator. Any defender who tells you he's a creator isn't telling you the truth. "Defenders are only there to destroy the opposition's attack." And the United boss says that he would have no fears about starting with the five-times French champion should any of the Magpies defenders return from international duty with an injury. "Cacapa is fit and ready and could start at Middlesbrough if we wanted him to," he added. "But I think the defence is playing well at the moment so it's probably the case that we don't need to, however that could change between now and then." Anyone think he will get a start on Sunday ?

Newcastle United have distanced themselves from reports that have suggested billionaire owner Mike Ashley could be ready to sell, just months into his regime at St James' Park. Reports emanating from Iceland have suggested Ashley has been in talks with potential new investors Palmi Haraldsson and Jon Asgeir Johannesson, with a £135million takeover mooted. While Ashley and his associates have yet to pass comment on such talk, a Newcastle club spokesman has moved quickly to issue a statement, in a bid to put the rumours to bed: "These stories are complete news to the club." Ashley only completed a £134.4million buy-out of the club in June, but there have been repeated reports of a desire to cash in quickly on his investment. Chris Mort installed as chairman by Ashley following Freddy Shepherd's departure, has spoken in length of long-terms plans that have been put in place by the club's new hierarchy. Widespread reports have claimed Ashley invested a further £30million last week, in a bid to make inroads into the £80million debt he inherited when purchasing the club. A Chinese consortium were linked earlier in the summer with a potential takeover but the timing of any sale seems questionable, given the battles Ashley fought in order to persuade the Hall family to part with their 41.6 per cent holding in return for £55million. The Jersey-based Belgravia Group and the Polygon-backed St James' Park Group both failed where Ashley succeeded, but it remains to be seen whether he elects to make his tenure one of longevity or of more transient proportions.

Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce insists he has no intention of allowing Nolberto Solano to leave St James' Park, amid widespread reports the Peruvian wants to move to London. Solano's family currently reside in the capital and he is known to be keen on quitting the North East in order to join them. West Ham are believed to be strong suitors of the gifted wide man but Allardyce is loath to sanction his departure, especially given that fact he has only just sold Kieron Dyer to the same club. "Nobby has talked about his family situation and that's obviously something we have to try and resolve," said Allardyce. "But at the moment, unlike Kieron, where West Ham have come in with a big offer, nobody has come in for Nobby. So he stays with us and he really is not someone I would want to lose." Earlier on Thursday, Dyer completed his move to West Ham and now the deal has been done, Allardyce has been quick to pass on his best wishes. "The issue is now over and from the club's point of view and Kieron's point of view it's a satisfying result. "We've all got what we wanted and we move on and I wish him all the best. I hope he has a successful career from now on and of course he is closer now to his family." I guess BS was only gonna let one of them go.

Kieron Dyer has completed his move from Newcastle to West Ham after the two clubs finally reached an agreement. The England midfielder had looked set to join The Hammers earlier this month after announcing he wanted to leave St James' Park to be closer to his family. The transfer fell through at the last minute when Newcastle changed their valuation of the player, forcing West Ham to reconsider. The two clubs have now settled on a fee, believed to be in the region of £8million, leaving Dyer available to make his West Ham debut against Birmingham on Saturday. "Newcastle United and West Ham have agreed terms and the transfer of Kieron Dyer to West Ham has now been concluded," The Hammers confirmed on their official website. Dyer will be reunited at Upton Park with a number of former Newcastle team-mates. He did not feature in Newcastle's 3-1 victory at Bolton on the opening day of the Premier League season.

Newcastle midfielder James Milner will equal the record for England Under 21 caps if he plays against Romania next week - and he hopes to use his experience as a springboard to a senior call-up. The 21-year-old is one cap short of Scott Carson's record and, with the goalkeeper now too old to take part for the Under 21s, Milner looks set to become the most capped England Under 21 star of all-time. And, while Milner is happy with the achievement, he hopes it will lead to bigger things. "It's great to represent your country at any level and to have as many caps as I have," he said. "The aim for all of us in the Under 21s is to use it as a stepping stone to get in the full squad. "If you do make it, it makes the transition that much easier." England Under 21 boss Stuart Pearce will name his squad for Tuesday night's friendly this Thursday.

Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Livorno goalkeeper Marco Amelia. City have been the first side to show an interest in Amelia and are understood to have already put in a bid, plus the loan of Bernado Corradi as part of the deal, as coach Sven Goran Eriksson does all he can to bring the player to Eastlands. Newcastle and Portsmouth have also been thrown into the frame for the keeper's services with reports stating that they have officially approached the Tuscan side for information. Livorno president Aldo Spinelli will only sell the player if the club receives a big offer, otherwise he is expected to keep hold of him until January when the transfer window opens and the side will know how their season is going. Meanwhile, Corradi has also emerged as a possible target for Siena. Siena have reportedly enquired about the Italian striker and will be willing to pay his salary as they need to strengthen their attack. Reports suggest negotiations are expected to start over the next few days. Dont even know who this guy is. Do we really need a keeper?

Levante have called an end to negotiations with Newcastle striker Albert Luque. The Spaniard was looking to leave the Premier League side in the current transfer window in order to put an end to his nightmare spell at St. James' Park, but after his wage demands escalated, the Primera Liga side have cancelled talks. Luque's father and agent is believed to have requested an 8million euros [£5.4 million] pay-packet over four years, which Levante have said is impossible for them to afford. The player will seemingly have to lower his demands if he is to complete a move away from England, after Espanyol and Real Betis also rejected the opportunity to commence negotiations with the striker. Levante have now moved to bring in an alternative forward, with the acquisition of Messina's Christian Rigano, for a fee of 500,000 euros [£340,000].

Michael Owen emerged unscathed from a 60-minute run out for Newcastle United's reserves on Monday. The England international striker missed much of the club's pre-season and sat out their opening win against Bolton with a thigh strain. However, Owen featured in the 2-0 win over Newcastle Blue Star, confirming his availability ahead of this weekend's clash with Aston Villa. The former Liverpool ace will now be looking to prove his fitness ahead of England's crucial Euro 2008 qualifiers next month. "I feel fine, it was only a small injury, a niggle," he told the club's official website. "It had me out for a couple of weeks but I've trained for the last four or five days and I was confident I'd be fine and it was good to get back out on the pitch. "It's a little frustrating to have missed some of the pre-season games but I've been able to do all the running work."

Newcastle defender David Rozehnal was delighted with his Premier League debut for the club. Sam Allardyce's side began the season with a 3-1 win at Bolton thanks to a goal from Charles N'Zogbia and two from Obafemi Martins. Rozehnal, who joined The Magpies from Paris Saint Germain, was impressed with the way his new team-mates performed. "It was beautiful, I could not have imagined it going better," he told Pravo. "The game was played in a great atmosphere and the result was great. "We played really well in the first half and scored three goals in half an hour which broke Bolton down. The second half was slightly worse, but overall, we managed it well. "The coach was satisfied. He enjoyed the win, after all it is important to start the season well." The Czech stopper almost got himself on the score sheet on his Newcastle debut when he narrowly failed to connect with N'Zogbia's free-kick. "I was not far from scoring in the game," Rozehnal said. "N'Zogbia took a great free-kick from distance and their goalkeeper probably did not expect that it could go all the way through into the net. "I was jumping to make the header and I missed the ball by a few centimetres." Rozehnal admits his first taste of Premier League football was an interesting experience. He added: "The league debut showed me that the Premier League is a huge ride from the first to the last minute. "Compared to Ligue 1 there is much more commitment, toughness, tempo and aggressiveness. You must be alert all match long. "I picked up some knocks, fortunately nothing serious. My team-mates had prepared me for this before the game and after they said 'welcome to England'."
