They were all over us in the second half and should have scored 3 easily. And a penalty, according to Garth Crooks

Some people need to make a decision about whether they like Martins or not, they sit on here all day and slag him of about his first touch and say if a bid came in they would sell him in a flash, but now that teams are actually interested in him they are worried about him leaving, make your fucking minds up man.

David Beckham has begun training with Arsenal as he bids to win his 100th cap for England next month. Beckham, 32, asked Gunners manager Arsene Wenger for permission to train with the club so that he can keep fit during the American close season. The former Manchester United star hopes to impress new England coach Fabio Capello ahead of the friendly with Switzerland on 6 February. Beckham is currently playing Major League Soccer for LA Galaxy. The former Real Madrid midfielder will mainly train with Arsenal's reserves over the next month and will only join up with the first team occasionally when they are short of players. He is expected to return to LA Galaxy in mid-February in time for their pre-season friendlies ahead of the MLS season, which starts in late March.

Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton is to be released from custody after being granted conditional bail. The 25-year-old Newcastle midfielder, who is facing charges of actual bodily harm and affray, has been in custody since he was arrested on 27th December. Following an hour-long hearing in chambers before Judge David Swift at Liverpool Crown Court, Barton was told he can be freed from Liverpool Prison. No conditions of bail were released by the court. Barton's solicitor Daniel Weed said: ``Mr Joseph Barton has been granted bail with conditions until he appears at Liverpool Magistrates' Court on 16th January.'' Barton has missed Newcastle's last two games. At an earlier hearing, the original assault charge against him was upgraded from a Section 39 common assault to a Section 47 assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Jose Enrique and Cacapa going on African duty, but it makes me wonder who the would play for if they were to go to the ACON

Who said he didn't want to go to Preston?? I presume the bit in bold has nothing to do with it. If he's out and about town on the Friday night and has a game the next day, what makes you think he wants to be there.
-
Carroll's performances were probably down to the fact that he didn't want to be at Preston, he is usually out and about town on a Friday and Saturday night, I've seen him a good few times.

Newcastle striker Alan Smith spent Saturday night in hospital after being accidentally struck in the face by team-mate Abdoulaye Faye. The England international needed treatment on the pitch after he was caught by Faye during the 2-1 defeat by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and was then substituted with 20 minutes to go. The former Leeds and Manchester United player complained of feeling unwell during the team's flight back to the North East from London and went to hospital on the advice of the club's doctor. Smith's agent Alex Black told The Sun: "Alan couldn't remember much after getting hurt and the club felt he should have a proper examination. "He was allowed out on Sunday morning when he was feeling a lot better." Smith hopes to be available for the Premier League clash against Manchester City at St James' Park on Wednesday.

Newcastle manager Sam Allardyce feels he has been let down by Joey Barton. Toon midfielder Barton will see in 2008 in prison after being charged with common assault and affray following an incident in Liverpool over the Christmas period. His spell in custody has ruled him out of Newcastle's festive programme. And under-fire Magpies boss Allardyce - who splashed out £5.8million to bring the midfielder to St James' Park - has admitted he is frustrated by Barton's behaviour. He told the Daily Mirror: "Yes, I feel let down by him, of course I do. There's no question about that but I've got to deal with that quietly and privately when the opportunity arises." Allardyce has spoken to Barton since he was remanded in custody but insists his future at Newcastle has not been discussed. "I have spoken to him but I'm not going to tell you what was said. The Joey Barton situation is something we had to put behind us because we've got so many games in such a short period of time," said Allardyce. "We'll deal with that later on and find out what the outcome is when I get the opportunity with the chairman. "It's disappointing, very, very disappointing but I can't really comment any further than that."

If we had scored that I can guarantee that it wouldn't have counted, but because it is fucking Chelsea and they are one of "the big four" the goal has to stand. Ridiculous decision.
