Great saves from Krul, Colo did his job as usual (and at times did other peoples) and Cabaye was quality but to get the best out of him he'll need some better players to pass to! Best despite not being good enough does seem to have a knack every so often of changing into somebody else and knocking in a couple of goals! And Alan Smith can just fuck right off, he is an absolute clown who could have cost us 2 points through stupidity. Anybody else would have tried to win the header with the Fulham player or backed off and then tackled, but he charges in arm first like a complete tool, gives away yet another freekick in the same place they scored their goal from. We'd have been better off if Pardew took Vukic off and brought nobody on.

JUst shows why you pay the money for a finisher, Best's a good honest pro but he should have had 4 today and Lovenkrands a couple, but they didnt have the clinical instinct or composure. Ameobi and Vukic have massively improved our play and one plus from the extra time is they get a good run out to show what they can do.

Scunthorpe well worth their lead, as somebody said its been Marveux on his own as he's looked very lively and certainly pushing his claim for the first team. Ba is still off the pace, he needs games to show what he can do and the rest of them looked a bit slugish by and large as well. I'd have any of Abeid, Vukic, Ameobi or Ferguson on second half to liven it up and help Marveux out a bit!

Colo has looked class all last season and the opening game of this season. And he aint half bad in the opposite end; have u ever seen colo hovering about the opponents penalty area, he always has a slick first touch, great awareness and good strike on him too. Colo is alongside Albert as my favourite defender for footballing skill and technique, his first touch, passing and shooting can be top notch and he also managed to put in far and away our best cross against Arsenal from out on the wing.

Thought Colo was probably motm and Saylor played well alongside him with Obertan really the only other player to catch the eye at all. Tiote's passing was well off all match though 2nd half he was much more energetic and active than he had been first half. And Jonas first half either looked half asleep or that he wasn't interested. With the new lads i thought Cabaye chased around and worked hard and tried a couple of nice through balls, he just didnt have any decent possession to show his strengths just yet and Ba likewise barely got a good ball to him in his time on the pitch. Arsenal were completely there for the taking, they look like they are either shellshocked or sulking at the state of affairs there and if we'd been really fired up and went for it i think we could have snatched it. Whoever the opposition we need to create more than we did today, and hopefully as the players settle in, we will. People are very focussed on us needeing a striker in (and we do) but one injury to COlo (or him being sold by the fat cunt) and suddenly the defence could be the bigger problem. No left back or at best bring in an unproven one, Saylor/Williamson don't work great without Colo and nobody is convinced by Simpson. Throw in the fact Krul is likely to start, which i hope he does as he's my preference, but he's inexperienced and could do with a solid unit in front of him to help him out. As for Jose, i don't blame him for leaving at all, he's known for ages to bosses are bullshitters and have no ambition other that to wreck this club and he's good enough to play for a team going somewhere. Why would he want to stay, and when he's gone, BArton is given away and who knows after that, why should anybody decent want to stay.

Yeah it must be just about the strongest batting line-up England have ever had. Plus they're all good fielders too. And like you say you have Tremlett to come back in at some stage (can't drop Bresnan at present as you've mentioned but I think Tremlett is the better bowler all in all) and you have Finn too. The only worry would be Swann getting injured. I happen to think Bopara has a chance of becoming a regular too as he has the talent and can bowl a bit. Plus there's onions and shazad also waiting in the wings that could come in and do a job. Got to feel a bit for Finn and tremlett. Neither's done owt wrong but both might have a tough time getting back the side now. Could be all over tomorrow. Gutted as I'm supposed to be up on Saturday. Would be nice to see indias batters put up more of a fight than their bowlers. Go down fighting and at least try to make a contest of it. Also Strauss is starting to get more aggressive with his tactics and declarations which was needed and the whole team just believe they are the best and when we're struggling at any point one or more just step up and turn the game. What we need to do though is get to no.1 and stay there by going and beating India, Sri Lanka and South Africa in their own backyards and we may need another spinner to kick on and help Swann when we're playing on flat dustbowls made for spinning. I'd like to see Rachid getting a chance at least in one dayers or something to see what he can do as havign a leg spinner would be something different to everyone else we have.
