  1. I just wish they'd let him fuck off so the papers and media can finally give it a rest, well once they've devoted several weeks coverage to him signing for Madrid of course! And like Fop its funny because it pisses manu fans off who see their club as the single most important entity in the history of all sports and the very idea that any player at their best would choose to leave them for anyone else will really eat away at them. You only have to look at their behaviour regaurding Shearer to see how sad some of them are. They just cannot get their heads round him coming here instead of there. And after all those years when he won fuck all here and they won loads meaning they should be able to sit back happy that in their eyes he got it totally wrong and paid for it, they couldn't. As i was leaving the Millenium Stadium after they'd hammered us, were they singing about their team being in another final, no of course not they were singing songs about Shearer, it really still to this day bugs them that the mighty manu were turned down when they wanted somebody.
  2. I don't bother with boxing much at all but that was a proper fight, not like some of the shite heavyweight stuff these days which is two big blokes holding onto each other for 12 rounds! As the commentator said it was like a Rocky film the number of punches flying about! I also don't think he should have stopped it quite as quick as he did. But then my opinion has always been the boxers choose to take the risk and know what can happen so they should be allowed to continue until they hit the ground as given the choice not one fighter would ever want it stopped when he was still on his feet. But i do know why they stop it when somebody is taking dangerous levels of punishment.
  3. Assuming that our reported interested in him before the Euros was genuine then we really should've went all out to sign him then. Totally agree. Still, I'm sure Kev enjoyed his holiday. To be fair to Keegan does anyone here really think that all the top managers, coaches and scouting teams out there were completely unaware of Arshavin and that now he's played a game or two at the euros they suddennly all want him. They'll have known about him for ages and had himwatched many times, a couple of games here isnt going to change much. If Keegan had put a bid in then any bigger clubs who are planning on going for him would have stepped in and took him, people can't believe we were the only ones who had any idea he was good before this tournament and that if we'd bid for him we'd be unapposed and get him! I'd still have a go, on the very remote chance that somebody more attractive than us doesn't come in, but they will and they would have before the euros as well, so its unfair criticism of Keegan IMO. The holiday remark was just a throw-away comment. Perhaps I should've added the safety wink. I love Kev really. To be honest it wasn't particularly aimed at you! Not just on here but talking to people and what you hear its as if some people think because we didnt make a move now everyone will know about him, as if they didn't before! And as i say i'd still have a go, as there's nothing to lose and you do wonder why nobody has went for him before now, but i bet when the offers start to come in for him we'll be up against teams in the CL and then we're fucked!

  5. I wonder why, since they do it with everyone else Eh? Who have they stopped? They always seem to be finding excuses to waive the rule from what I can see. They kicked up about Rodders and Southgate, didn't they ?? Yeah, they went on a massive whinge, cried, sulked and moaned and then found out nobody gives a fuck what they think and the prem allowed both to manage anyway! So either they're being massively inconsistent for soem reason and this time arent kicking up a fuss, or they've finall relaised they have no power at all and have given up, so don't see it worth challenging Ince if he gets the job! one of my mates came up with a decent theory, that the predominantly white organization wouldn't dare stand in the way of a black english manager moving into the premier league Good. Good that they would change their rules/opinion because he's black? They should treat him exactly the same as Roeder and Southgate, its patronising to do otherwise implying a black guy needs their help where the other two didnt. They should at least have the principals to stick to their original view even if it was pointless and nobody of any importance listens to a word they say! How long did it take your mate to cook up this theory? I mean it is so complex and well thought through I nearly missed it. Ince is black you say? If you're going to attempt such a hilarious sarcastic reply to somebody at least get the right one, it wasn't my mate it was Andrew's, so it might serve you better to reply to his post with your witty response. You're reply to me should have included an answer as to why you think it would be good if Ince is being treat different by the LMA on the basis of his colour when he's quite capable of getting the job himself on the basis of him being good enough.

  8. Never owned a console, so Amiga all the way for me, and many of the games have been mentioned already. Loved SWOS, Kick Off 1+2 and player manager (which used kick off 1 engine), Speedball 2...i imagine half my waking life was spent on those games just mentioned here! Also loved Moonstone for th Amiga, incredibly violent/gory game in its day with blood n guts, decaptiations and impalings galore, so much so there was an option to turn it all off!
  9. The press will be knocking one out over the chances of this happening, they can't believe their luck. The last thing they wanted was for KK to get the kind of easy starts Souness, Roder and Allardyce managed to fuck up as Keegan's teams are hard to stop once they build momentum. Its a shocking start but if things don't go well and we ignore our current position it is good to have thosr 2 trips done and out the way i suppose. Also early on you can catch these teams not firing and sneak a draw here and there.
  10. He may well do ok eventually, the crux is can Blackburn not be relegated in the period he spends turning Blackburn from a reasonable footballing team to a Mk3 Bolton hoofball team. It wasn't Allardyce's style that got him sacked here, it was the style + the fact he wasn't doing very well with it. Ugly and ineffective football is just no one's cup of tea, especially when your team morale is going through the floor. And that Keegan could end up having to play a very similar formation with slightly different players and get a different style and eventually success rate says quite a lot too. Aye, people didn't demand attacking football at Newcastle under Allardyce. It was inneffective and unattractive football combined that saw Allardyce go. Fish has a point about the relative amounts of pressure though. I'm a bit sad for Blackburn (but not overly so) and more sad that the fat cunt has managed to get himself another job. Allardyce left us with his reputation intact, as most people cite our unreasonable demand for attractive football and instant success as reasons for his sacking. Never mind that our results were terrible and we were playing so badly that a team like Derby were able to take four points off us. Agree with that, due to the medias obssession with ridiculing toon fans on an almost daily basis i don't think Allardyce suffered that much at all from his sacking here in terms of getting the blame for what happened. And to be fair i think he'll probably do a decent job there, though the fans will be enjoying the football less under him than Hughes!
  11. The best thign to do to him would be go over and start talking, acting like a big fan and admirer, ask for an autogrph and when he signs it say, "Sorry i thought you were Graham Poll" or something like that. Of course this would also work in reverse on Poll who is also a tit!
  12. Oh he had a cracking haircut, there's no denying that! Bit like David Gower and the silver acrylic wig they always went on about on they 'think its all over'! Wasnt he one who liked to have a laugh and seemed like a canny bloke for a ref as well, though likely just as shite as the rest of course! Aye, he always seemed pretty genial. I seem to remember him being a canny ref. They should get him on SSN see what he looks like now, better than inflicting Jeff fucking winter on us all the time! I saw him in Forest Hall once (Winter that is) sitting in a restaurant, bright orange and he kept having a little look around to see if anyone had spotted him. He thinks he's fucking rock as well. Yeah, he'll be the sort looking round trying to catch peoples eye and then if anybody comes up to him, he'll sigh/give a look to whoever he's with as if to say, "God i wish people wouldn't bother me because i'm famous!" I was watching a league of gentlemen dvd the other day and for a laugh they were in HMV somewhere and were basically standing round by their own dvd's looking at them until some people recognised them and then looking all surprised at the fuss to meet them. You can just imagine him doing that for real wherever he is!

  14. I actually like Dre as a rapper, from NWA to stuff like the chronic as Alex said, and don't think he's neccesarilly just about beats and producing other rappers.

  16. Indeed, plenty out there who work really hard and definitely earn all of their high grades and who would have done just as well when the exams were harder, but there isn't really anyway for them to prove that.
  17. Yup. Well remembered. Same with the Gary Charles tackle. Absolutely ridiculous. It should have been at least a second yellow too after he'd already tackled someone at waist height after about 2 minutes of the Cup final. Exactly, he could have got a straight red for the first one, nevermind a yellow! I seem to reacall the ref, Roger Milford or something saying he wished he'd sent him off or at least booked him so the second thing didn't happen.
  18. You'd have to wonder if we genuinely got pipped by someone like Spurs again to him. I don't see anything strange in currently being beaten to players by Spurs, sadly at the moment they are a much more attaractive proposition. In european competition, just won a trophy, manager who is pretty highly regarded and successful in europe and the old London factor which some players can't get over. If we hadn't had years of Fat Fred inflicting the likes of Souness and Roeder et al on us and makign us mediocre at best then we'd be more attractive, but for now we're not. Out of interest, a genuine question has Keegan actually come out and directly said he wants Dunne, or has it just been the usual paper talk linking us with everyone and deciding themselves that Keegan has said he wants DUnne as i'm not sure either way on this one whether he has or not!
  19. Ive thought what Fergie does for many years, i agree with him completely (and it feels so wrong!) that he would have saved Gazza. Gazza has/would have problems, but alot of them would stem from, or be increased by the serious injury he got and subsequent injuries leaving him with nothing to do and goign to Lazio with some people around him who weren't helpful shall we say. IMO f he'd went to manu Fergie and the older geordie players he mentioned would have looked after him, kept him out of trouble and he would have went on to be the best player in the world for some time as he was that good. And as an afterthought, when Keegan took over as manager first time round and did what he did i suspect Gazza would have been brought back home like Beardsley and Shearer to play for us. Fergie is a good man manager, and being under someone like that might have helped (career, football and generally), but Gazza needs and needed a lot more than that, his problems don't come from guidance so much as probably his childhood and likely just something biochemically wrong with him. Fergie wouldn't be able to save someone from say cancer, and Gazza is unfortunately just as much suffering from illness. Although maybe he needs something like a Terry Mac role to help him. I know what you mean, i saw that documentary about Gazza's life and particluarly his childhood that was on a few years ago, but i think Fergie and being at manu would have saved his career from ending up as it did (which still wasnt bad, just barey a fraction of what it should have been). I just think someof his problems came about or were made worse by things that happened in his career and that those would have been changed. But we'll never know sadly.
  20. It's barmy it is the tragedy of the fucking pie chart. There are three big issues with making stuff easier: 1. No one can actual say if anything is been done better as there is no fixed point to measure from. 2. It piles students up at the top end (as A* has shown. There will eventually just be A, A*, A**, A*** & A**** unless they add something like and then restart the nonsense all over again ). 3. It completely degrades the whole system, eventually you will have to have done a PhD to be a bin man, that all the PhD involves is writing your name correctly and going on the piss for 3 years becomes irrelevent (although I guess that's not so far off what it involves now ). But it does give nice pie charts and graphs to show off year on year. That's the problem, everything getting more and more devalued and easier, leading to problems further down the line. We have a government who are obsessed with getting everyone into university (despite it not being right for everyone at all) and making everything continually easier so they can do it. Even back when i was at uni, many lecturers were starting to get pissed off that many of the students they were being sent were not good enough because of the standard of exams and that degree material was then getting easier itself to cope with this. Throw in some of the complete joke degrees knocking about these days that are a waste of everyones time and its hard to say what a degree is worth alot of the time. I watched an edition of that one show with Adrian Chiles a while back and they got a few celebs in i'd say their thirties to go and do current GCSE papers to compare the results with their old exam results. Now remember these celebs havent been in education for years, will be completely out of practice for taking exams and haven't just spent their time studying for and revising thse subjects, which you need to for exams, so already the experiemtn is massively against them. Yet 1 or 2 only did a tiny bit worse than their old exam results, and the others were about the same or even beat their old results in some cases. But the disgraceful bit was one guy (think it was Hardeep Kholi Singh) got something like 20% less on the GCSE paper but ended up two grades higher than his old exam result! But of course the government says things arent getting easier to pass, and that education is better than ever, and they never lie about anything do they!
  21. Right to move him on as he never delivered what he should have and was injured far too often and for far too long, and he can be replaced with soembody better. Also as he is highly regarded in turkey, i think we can expect a reasonable fee for him, though i read somewhere that the £8m is what the deal could be worth to him, ie his wages over the length of his contract, so maybe that's where the misunderstanding has come from? But we have to be carefull with our already small squad that we don't leave ourselves shorthanded. Luckilly in this case he's hardly played at all so really the squad isn't really decreasing with his departure!
  22. Ive thought what Fergie does for many years, i agree with him completely (and it feels so wrong!) that he would have saved Gazza. 23. I vote for whichever track has currently sold the most in a time period i'll arbitrarilly choose to back it up, as that must be the biggest and best track in the world and the only choice we can make! Or just stick: Killing in the name - RATM on, that'll do me.
  24. He was injured for a fair bit during the end of that season..plus the craic at the time was that his bairn was unwell and he wanted to move to London. Yeah, Keegan (like the fans) was sad to have to let Peacock go for the family reasons mentioned and wanted to keep him, whereas he chose to let say David Kelly go. as we finished 3rd you can't knock what keegan did but i'd have liked to see Kelly in the squad, especially as Beardsley was injured for weeks at the start of the season! And Peacock has been religious a long time, certainly was whilst here as a player and like Snakehips i'm trying to think if there was soemthing in the sunday thing, even though Jonathon Edwards is the one everyone knows who did that early in his career.
