  1. Definitely and it would be a real shame if we come out firing and match Chlsea only to be shafted by the ref, all you ask for is a fair playing field. And for probably the first time ever, this season the refs when we played both Arsenal and Manu were fair, get a hatrick against Chelsea and we could pull a win out of the hat. Very annoying that Anelka's made it though, if they'd lost him and Drogba that would have been great considering we have major injury doubts in defence.
  2. Fair play to Walter Smith, risking his own teams success to publically punish the two of them, when what they did wasn't done whilst with Rangers themselves. As for the two involved, just further proof that a large number of footballers are complete tools!
  3. Personally if he keeps us up i couldn't give a shit why he did it, but i think its obvious he cares about the club. He wouldn't do it for free and why should he, but in no way does he need any of the stress and problems that will come with the job when he was perfectly happy on MOTD etc but he couldn't stand to see us go down like any other NUFC fan and he knows he could save us, so he's come to do just that.
  4. Just heard on SSN as i flicked over the channel! No coincidence at all that Shearer is coming and Wise is going as there is no way Big Al would have tolerated a single second of Wise at the club!
  5. "A Scotch paedophile......the worst kind of paedophile there is" Just been watching it on youtube, top class stuff! Love the thick guy who didn't get Lee's irony in using "scotch" so corrected him and also the fat bearded guy who's clearly hating it as Lee rips into Braveheart and the scots but trying not to look absolutely gutted! Fair play to Lee doing it in Glasgow as well
  6. Steven Fry put it best on the radio during I'm Sorry i haven't a clue in the round where they make up new definitions for old words: Countryside - to kill Piers Morgan!
  7. Lets all go to Pete and Bernie's philosophical steakhouse!
  8. Would have been my choice, don't own it but would like pretty much everything on it.
  9. In an ideal world if we were relegated, we'd ship out the big earners and hangers on we don't want, use the freed up money on some sensible buys and combined with the young players storm straight back up having watched a very enjoyable season of actually winning games! Sadly what will happen is we'll lose most of the good players we have and not be able to get rid of the crap players we want to shift because they're on big wages, we'll have a substandard management team from top to bottom and most of the young players probably won't be quite ready yet to be all chucked in at once. And every single team and player in that division will be fired up at the chance to have a crack at us be it playing at St. James or in front of sell out crowds at their own ground.
  10. They appear to be letting him know he'll be standing exactly where he wants him!
  11. She looks exactly like John Terry himself, aged and stuck in a bad wig!
  12. Yeah sounds familiar, also: "The Cat's Revenge" by Claude Balls
  13. Agree - I was actually quite surprised when I read Bolam was born in Sunderland - he wasn't "real" mackem to me. Having watched it when younger it never really crossed my mind he wasn't a geordie. Mind since then a few things i've read/heard about him he seems to be a bit of an arse to be honest, and still to this day won't speak to Bewes at all because he told somebody in an interview that Bolam was getting married and apparently he wasn't supposed to. Something like that anyway, but i've certainly read a few unfavourable things about him. Seemed to be one of the few 70's sitcoms that actualy made a film that was funny as well, some of the others tended to be a bit poor as i recall.
  14. He shouldn't be going because we have a limited squad and will no doubt get more injuries and i think he's worth having on the bench to throw on if we need to attack. However as Jonny said he won't be getting much of a shot at a game currently so he may as well get some matches under his belt.
  15. Funnilly enough i was having a look on wikipaedia and they reckon they havent lost the master tapes to TMWRNJ despite the rumours, but because of the topical nature of some of the material they likely won't ever repeat or release it. Was also reading that it did get plenty of complaints on points of view, particularly at them taking the piss out of Jesus and the bible most sunday mornings, so fair play to whoever commisioned the series and kept letting them do it despite complaints, could do with more of that attitude now!
  16. IIRC there were only two or three complaints about the Ross-Brand incident at the time of broadcast. It was only the media frenzy that whipped up the 40000 sheep or whatever it was to complain, when at worst they hadn't heard the incident at all and at best heard it out of the context of a late night comedy show. Yeah i'm pretty sure it was something like 8 at the most, then the usual fuckwitts got the bandwagon going and soon thousands were either tracking it down to be offended by it or just being offended without hearing it at all.
  17. Not racist, just a pun, anyone who was offended should grow up and as usual there were next to no or actually no complaints but it still causes a big furore. As people have said its much worse now after the Ross/Brand incident, i remember Sean Lock being interviewed and mentioning that when he did that Live at the apollo show they cut all the bits where he made fun of the celebs in the audience bar one which wasn't that good, in case they would get complaints, its completely ludicrous. I hate the whole system around media complaints anyway, we're supposed to live in a democracy yet often a fraction of a fraction of 1% of the population can get things banned or changed, and that percentage are a bunch of cocks. If something is broadcast there should be nothing done at all unless over 50% of the people who saw it actually complain or else your going against the majority who had no problem with it.
  18. That was a great programme, getting away with as much as humanly possible on a sunday morning, i'm surprised they didn't get in more trouble! For some reason though, both that and Lee and Herring's other show 'Fist of fun' never seem to be repeated or available to buy, though i managed to trawl the internet and download both a little while back.
  19. God i remember that, he was a s close to blowing Saddam as you could get! You need see nothing else than that clip to think the bloke is a complete cunt, but everything else about him just backs it up. There was a class episode of have i got news for you he was on where they showed that clip and ripped the shit out of him for the whole programme, with it being pretty clear that Hislop, Merton and host Dara O'Brian all thought he was a dick. And the less said about the so called serious politician's efforts on big brother the better, i really don't want that image back in my mind! Even if anything he says matches my views i'd be inclined to completely rethink my beliefs rather than share the same opinion as him!
  20. Considering the complete mess we're in, and thats without being relegated he would obviously be a decent appointment. He's done a good job at Wigan, though they are a truly horrible team to play against, i've never seen as much feinging injury and spoiling in years combined with some pretty dirty fouling themselves. In the game at St James 10 times a player went down "injured" as such is my boredom at the match i was sort of counting! Whether this is Whelan's issues with Ashley making him say it or not, any decent manager would be wary of the current set up not just Bruce.
  21. Its seriously worrying that it is good news he's going to be fit as we will actually need him. He was impressive against Arsenal, but can't say he's been "immense" in the last few games, unless he's been defending great in the away matches ive not seen. But with no Bassong and Colo struggling Taylor will have to step up and do something at CB because his only good games this season have been at RB where he can't cause as much damage. Also he should have been sent of against both arse and man, though i'm glad he wasn't obviously. Ronaldo, as ever, made a meal of it but the fact is the ref could happilly have given him a red for hitting ronaldo in the face/throat and also a yellow for clattering their defender seconds later! But going into the Arse match i just knew deep down that the return of Beye meant you could guarentee one or more of the other defenders would get bloody injuries!
  22. I think we'd have been better but not by much because as you say he's miles out of his depth, just not quite as far out as Hughton and you always have that worry that while neither is good enough, the players might take Hughton alot less seriously. I think Kinnear may have sneaked a win at Hull as it was so there for the taking and it took some stupendously shit team selection to not win it. But if the club or Kinnear himself seriously think he should return to managing us fulltime then they are insane and he has a deathwish because this club is worse than any other for stressing out a manager! Fair comment and staying up / going down could be a matter of a point or two (or even less). Indeed, could even go as far as goal diff or goals scored and whilst ours is currently better than some of the teams down there, we have chelsea and liverpool yet to play so need to at the very least avoid big defeats if we must lose at all.
