Wish i'd known ealier about this or i'd have tried for tickets, though i read they are one of the fastest seelouts going, so you have to be quick! Be a shame there's no Humph though, won't be quite the same though the likes of Rob Brydon, Stephen Fry and i think Jeremy Hardy are good choices to fill in for him. New series just starting on R4. I've never actually caught it on the Radio live as it were. First heard it on that BBC radio 7 on freeview through my TV then downloaded a torrent with all the episodes from the 70's, 80's 90's and as far into the 00's as they'd got at the time that torrent was created.

To be honest i haven't really seen Norton's stand up, i've seen the odd bit here and there and suspect i wouldn't be a big fan to be fair, but he works well on the chat show and of course turned in a top performance as Father Noel Furlong in Father Ted!
-
I wouldn't be against the idea of fans being part of a new set up, Ie. a new owner buying out the current shower of cunts who have destroyed our club, but offering fans a chance at a decent share of the club if they could be organised into some serious sort of group. Though i don't care if we are involved or not personally as long as we get taken over and saved from oblivion which is where we seem to be heading at the moment!

His stand up (which i'm a fan of) has little to do with innuendo and he doesn't rely on that at all. Its more about his life, his childhood and observations on current culture and the like. Obviously delivered in a camp style because that's who he is, but you could do most of his stand up material straight as it were. Anyway there's nothing wrong with people doing innuendos and being risque, doesn't mean you're a twat! And Norton on his chat shows has got big stars saying and doing things they wouldn't dream of on other chat shows, some of the biggest U.S celebs have really come out their shells on his show and revealled their true senses of humour and personality rather than the usual, come across as pretty dull and safe in other formats which is refreshing.

I'll suffer more if i didn't watch, wouldn't be able to put it from my mind for a second but wouldn't be able to see exactly what was happening. So i'll be stuck watching it feeling sick the whole time, and my stomach lurching everytime the commentators say they have an update from Sunderland or Hull, no doubt stringing it out, saying before they reveal which way a goal has gone!

Here we are:http://www.fsf.org.uk/ground-guide/stadiums/newcastle-united/stjames-park/ St.James’ Park has twice been short-listed to host the UEFA Cup Final, only to lose out to Gothenburg’s Ullevi Stadium and Hampden Park, Glasgow. However it has hosted a European final, when Newcastle United gained a 3-0 lead in the first leg of the 1968/69 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup Final against Hungarian side Ujpesti Dozsa.

Found this on the web, will look for something with more detail: Hampden hope for next year's UEFA Cup final « Previous « PreviousNext » Next »View GalleryPublished Date: 04 November 2003 HAMPDEN Park is on a short-list of six to host next season’s UEFA Cup final. It is up against Newcastle United’s St James’ Park, Sunderland’s Stadium of Light, Benfica’s Stadium of Light, Sporting Lisbon’s Jose Alvado and Porto’s Estadio do Dragao. A decision will be made by UEFA on 10 or 11 December.

Actually, the reason why SJP isn't rated 5 star is because it has never been in a bid for a Uefa Champions League or Europa/Uefa Cup Final, otherwise SJP would meet the criteria for 5 star rating. It the same reason why Park Head in Glasgow isn't rated 5 star and many other around Europe. Rating of a ground is only given when that ground has made a bid of hosting a Final, hopefully the World Cup will also be included in this and SJP will be given the 5 star rating that it deserves, or we could make a bid to host a final in future. Weren't we shortlisted in 2007 for the UEFA Cup final? No, Man City was England's bid for that, and eventuall winners as well. I don't remember when it was but i'm sure we were up for one of the UEFA cups as the chronicle did some stuff about it.

Its mental that the country who gave the world football and who has more stadiums of suitable size than pretty much any other country that are made for football, has only ever hosted the tournament once in our entire history. Its also pretty poor how rarely English grounds do host CL or UEFA finals, particularly as the fans of the two teams in question would get a hell of a lot more tickets each playing at St. James, SOL etc than in some of the far smaller grounds i've seen UEFA finals go to.

I've no idea of the figures myself and not bothered enough to check, but you can only compare the two clubs when they are both in the same division, all clubs drop fans when in lower divisions across football, so only stick to figures when us and Spurs are in the top flight, that alone tells you anything if anyone really needs to guess who'll come out on top there.

I agree, start registrations a day or two before the match as some will sneak in early to be ready for if it happens, and block them for a good while afterward so people who want to use this board for sensible discussion can do so without 50 threads of LOL!!MAGSAREDOWN!!! etc etc It will certainly make life for people on here easier and the job of mod much easier as you won't have to spend your days banning people over and over again!

It will be carnage on here if you don't. Don't underestimate the public feeling out there right now. You're right there. I'm well aware of how much most of the country will be wanting us down, they don't give a shit about the other nonentities down there with us, and i'd be just the same if it were a big club down there instead of us, so i don't blame them. However i'm not a complete tool so i wouldn't come on a message board to taunt fans who'd suffered relegation, but like you say there will be hundreds who will! Think how good it felt when West Ham and Leeds went down. There is a nationwide feeling that you lot have ideas above your station. There certainly is, shame these people get it all from the media and those few interviews with morons on SSN whenever the latest event hits St. James and the cameras descend! People who actually live up here amongs NUFC fans soon come to realise that nobody here thinks we have any fucking chance of winning anything ever! and that really all we expect is to compete in the prem, win some home games and at least look lik we're trying to get back into the top 6 and aiming to achieve something in the future.

Personally if we've been relegated i won't want anything to do with football at all, so doubt i'll be on here for a while, but i think its a good idea. It stops the forum being ruined for people who do want to use it, it spoils the fun of sad fuckwitts who have nothing better to do that piss us off and if any genuine new members are trying to join it won't be long before they can.
-
That actually is a very good idea! If we really want to stop it happening, then ban new accounts being started , even for just a week. Most of them should have something better to occupy their sad, depressing little lives by then, and even if not it will have reduced the number who appear and denied them the chance they wanted to have a go right when we all feel worst.
-
I reckon we're down, but I was going to say the same thing about an invasion. Every man and his dog will be coming on here and NO to have a go ;) And the funniest thing is not one of the retards will get the irony. They all tell us we're not a big club, we don't matter and nobody cares about us, yet they'll all be on here because we do, simple as that.

Surely ManUre second team will beat Hull, No?

I can't see Man U fielding anything different. Ronaldo will be begging Fergie to play, thanks to the Anelka goal today. I think he may feature against Hull IMO he'll be begging he wants that golden boot all to himself....... Any thoughts on this anyone? I think you're right he will want to play but i think Fergie will tell him he isn't! -
Agree totally. I can't believe any of the fans who were around for his fist time as manager (And definitely those who suffered all the shite before him) can think he's anything other than a legend here. No one man has ever made the fans of this city so happy and proud of their club as he did, giving us so much enjoyment, belief and hope along the way and lets not forget saving us from falling into division 3 and possibly going out of existence. And that's not even thinking about his time here as a player!
-
Duff has been far better at LB than on the wing, i think he has given it everything but he has at best been reasonable, which is not a criticism as most of the team haven't managed that very often have they! He's done a decent job, been caught out of position now and then but that's to be expected.
-
It would be exactly what they deserve for their obsession with our club to the detriment of any interest in their own. They've had two 7th place finishes in the prem back in the Reid days, but if they finished as low as 4th bottom and we were 3rd bottom it would be the greatest day of their footballing lives and they know it.
-
To be honest i couldn't name their midfield apart from Greening, but based on the decent football you often see them play, you'd have to think that if we switched midfields with theirs we'd be comfortably safe and they'd break Derby's record for worst prem team ever!
-
I'd say he thinks the former, but we think the latter, and anyway that's not how you spell cunt!

We've obviously been spoiled to some extent but I never rated Given as much as most people did. He was clearly a very good keeper but I don't think his command of the back line was anything to shout about and his distribution was usually average at best. He LOOKED like a good keeper from an acrobatic point of view on many occasions but I wouldn't put him in the Schmichel bracket by a long way. Bassong's had a few poorer games lately...Enrique was written off in his first season etc etc... the point I'm making is that I don't think Harper's costing us points although he seems to be the fashionable player to knock at the moment for some reason. We're on the same page re: Given but he's a class above anything I've seen in goal for us all the same. Given was a world class shot stopper, as good as any keeper, it was his command of the box and distribution that weren't as good as the very best. Harper obviosuly doesn't match Shay as a shot stopper, but he's looking poorer at commanding his area as well and his kicking and distribution have been very poor this time round. I still rate Harper though, he has a part to play for us next season in either division, but i'd like to see Krull or whoever given a chance pre season to see which of the keepers looks the best and is in the bets form. -
I think despite all evidence to the contrary that we can get a win or draw at Villa helped by the fact they're out of form themselves and maybe being away from home for the last game and it being so massive might take a bit of the pressure off strangely, with lower expectations and no risk of a massive St James crowd getting nervy and spreading that to the players!
-
I was saying at the match, we all bemoan our midfield going forward offering nothing, but they are also a massive liability defensively. Most of the goals we concede start from midfield problems, either giving the ball away cheaply or not being in position or being fast enough to break up the attack. Butt through being past it and Nolan through being fat and slow can't cover the pitch up and down so if they attack they're going to be caught out in defense so like you say players like Murphy can't believe their luck!
