  1. Guess who is on tonight's episode. I'll put every penny in my pocket against every penny in yours that she mentions something about "at her age if you don't have x no. of kids you're expected to be a lesbian" and something about being of Nigerian descent. she's an unfunny hack with a chip on her shoulder about being a black woman comedian. Reckons she doesn't get as many gigs as white men because of it. Which is bollocks, she doesn't get as many gigs because she's shit, has a limited repetoire, has a massive chip on her shoulder and she's shit. she's just shit. Its a given that at some point she'll either shout a punchline or shout and do a nigerian accent! Over the course of a show she will come up with 1 or 2 funny lines in amidst the unfunny crap, but to be honest i'd expect most of us to manage that given a chance and having seen alot of the questions that will appear in advance!
  2. I have to say i'll get round to looking for it on youtube at some point!
  3. About time it was back, i suspect its because of the individual success of most of the regulars with their stand up etc. that its taken ages to get them all available again.
  4. Really enjoyed that and like the rest of you thought the Deadliest Warrior part was hilarious, definitely a programme i'll be watching every week.
  5. Its great to see an England team that can bat so far down the order with Broad and Swann capable of some serious scoring, and with Anderson chipping in nicely there as well the Aussies know they're in for a battle to bowl us out twice in a match.
  6. Other than Bell, exactly what I would have chosen. Yeah, imagine the only debates were over Harmison after he did well in the aussies warm up match, and whether they went for Monty or the young leg spinner, and i guess they don't want to throw a young lad in against the aussies for his test debut.
  7. I'm beginning to think as long as he can get close to what he wants he'll take whatever option fucks up this club and our fans the most, and delaying the takeover for weeks is certainly the best way to do it. However you have to hope that the potential buyers, whoever they are will clearly state to him they want the club by a certain time or no sale, because they know themselves you have to get your manager in and give him a chacne to prepare and to buy and sell for the season ahead. So Ashley might want to fuck about but if he does they'll call his bluff and walk away, then its down to how desperate he is to get out and i think he'll do what they tell him.
  8. There are only two - Star and King - both great but you can also get a "best of" which includes a b-side called Thief which is quite simply the most beautiful song ever written. You should also check out Tanya Donelly's solo albums. Cheers, i'll have a listen to them when i get the chance.
  9. I'd agree about reccomending Mazzy Star, particularly for Hope Sandoval's voice, not as country mind (though on the odd song i can perhaps see what you mean, the odd one is bluesey as well, but definitely worth a listen! They are usually categorised as "dream pop" which also covers other bands I adore like Belly. However I think Mazzy Star fall into my particular take on country although admittedly with a bluesy touch as well - a niche also occupied in my tastes by early Texas. Of course Hope also occupies a place in my pantheon of Godesses as well. Yeah, they're down as "Dream Pop" on my iPod as thats what i found when i looked them up, also have Hope's album she did after Mazzy Starr and a My Bloody Valentine album. I'll have to check Belly out, any albums you'd reccomend?

  11. Those who were defending Ashley until the last day of the season are now very, very quiet. Sounds about right, going for the "i was completely wrong and look like a tit, so i'll just go quiet and never mention it again rather than admit it" approach! For the record, I've never said Shepherd [with Hall] was a "great chairman", only that he had the good of the club at heart and showed ambition, and gave us the best 15 years of my time supporting the club. The only good 15 years in fact, apart from the Fairs Cup win. It is others who construed that in different ways. I've no idea if he would succeed or not, maybe he doesn't have the backing, but again it is others who undervalued having the good of the club at heart and showing ambition. I agree that he cared more, he certainly wouldn't have done this to us, if he'd taken us down he'd have stayed, kept Shearer on and backed him as much as possible to get us back up. Then again i don't think he'd have got us relegated, he tried his best with Souness and Roeder, but i think he'd have always changed things just in time and just well enough to scrape by! That's hardly a glowing tribute but christ we'd take it over what we've had done to us by Ashley. yes, and now we are relegated. He wouldn't have got us relegated, or he would never have sold off good players, made a profit in 3 transfer windows, and watched a January transfer window go by without bringing in one player who would have won a solitary point in any game from somewhere that would have kept us up. Amazing the amount of pricks on NO who said that I would rather be right about Ashley being a cunt than be a success. Quite incredible. Of course, I've paid for the next 2 seasons, and like everybody else, knew what was coming ..... Quite a few accused NUSC members of being happy if we got relegated so we could say we were right only a complete fucking idiot would even think like that Exactly, whilst fans disagree on various subjects real fans would always want to have been wrong if it benefited the toon and would never accuse other fans of preferring to be right than see the club do well.
  12. Both him and Edgar could have done a job, and i doubt they'd have wanted stupid wages, though Lovenkrands unlike Edgar may have wanted to try for a prem club first before staying, who knows now! But i bet Shearer would probably have kept both, he has enough to do if he ever gets the job in terms of ins and outs of players without losing ones who were capable and having to replace them as well!

  14. Nice to hear the FA actually doing something good for once, helping them out finacially to have their game against Juve.

  16. I know its too much to ask but you really wish it could be done by the end of this week, monday next week at the latest. Even now the best case scenario is we're taken over, give Big Al the job straight away and he's already miles behind every other manager in the division and missed out on so much, and that's the best we can hope for. It seems like not that many players have moved around yet, but i was watching an interview with Phil Brown who said they'd already agreed deals for 5 players with clubs and were just waiting on players and agents to sort out the transfers. Shearer will be starting from scratch with deals already done everywhere else trying desperately to chase targets he had lined up way back and finding he's too late so having to go after inferior choices and even then he may miss out.
  17. Out of interest as i never go on there, are there still people defending Ashley even now, will it take us being left to rot until we get relegated again before people fiinally accept he's a fat useless cunt who's wrecked this club...or has everybody pretty much gotten it into their heads by now? Doesn't mean i rate Fat Fred either or want him back as he's a moron as well, but i'd take him ahead of Ashley like a shot!
  18. Pure class from Federer, showing nobody is unbreakable against him no matter how big the serve is. Going to take something special to stop him winning it this year if he continues like this!
  19. Sums up the cunts in charge letting us go completely to ruin. When he's played in his actual position of CB he's certainly looked good enough for the championship IMO, he was here already so costs nowt and wouldn't be asking for stupid wages. Now we lose him and will (if we have any time left) have to buy in a replacement, probably pay them more in wages and they mightn't even work out!
  20. Always said the same. He was a good guy and unassuming and took the pressure of the whole of the countries tennis fans on him every single wimbledon and one of the best volleyers of a ball around. Like you say a tiny bit more on the serve could have really helped him. But without a freak like Sampras around he would have got 1 or 2 wimbledons i'm sure of it, but nobody could touch Sampras back then and sadly Wimbledon was Henman's only real shot at a slam i think. Whereas Murray has yet to show if he can match Henman at Wimbledon (which i'm sure he will do and more) he is certainly a better allround talent and can compete at all 4 of the slams which Henman couldn't really do.
  21. Really impressed with this so far, just the right mix of laughs with some nice dark and disturbing stuff throughout and as you'd expect with them top class performances and writing. Only two episodes in and we've already got murder, incest, midget porn and a clown terrifying kids with his amputated hand what more could you ask for!
  22. Really good 5 set battle from both players and i think Murray will probably get all the way to the final, but beating a fired up Federer at Wimbledon is going to be a hell of a challenge. Murray just needs more first serves in, he doesn't really have a weakness in his game other than his second serve not being the strongest, so when his first serve percentage is up where it should be he can match pretty much anyone. And i don't think i've seen many better players at hitting shots on the run.
  23. Congrats Ritchie and all the best for the future
  24. This. Its bad enough that we will lose our few good players if things aren't sorted out soon, but the typical NUFC way is to give them away for joke fees as we did with Given. There is likely to be more than 1 team in for Bassong, people in the game seem generally agreed he's good and in demand and he is on very low wages here so not draining masses of money from us so we don't technically have to sell. So if he has to go then i want to see some serious money coming in for him, but i fear that he and other good players will go for ludicrous amounts.
  25. I do wonder who the hell advise him on the brochure/dossier thing, its just embarassing. I mean everyone in football already knows what he has done, they all know his goalscoring ability and that he is available for free. Without a broochure they will decide whether they take the risk of all this against his injury record and his lack of form at the end of last season. Then they'll see what his wage demands are and say yes or no, the brochure just makes him look sad and desperate. As for Owen if he gets a half decent club and stays relatively fit he'll score goals, if you've got him for free and got him to agree to rreasonable wages (which he'l probably have to at the end of the day) then he'll be a good signing for alot of clubs outside the real big hitters.
