  1. Yeah, a friend of mine was saying Ashley will probably wait till as late as possible, flog everyone possible, pocket the money and leave no time to buy any new players!
  2. You get the feeling Freddie wants to retire after this series having gone out in style!
  3. Its the fault of the fuckwitts in charge for not putting claues in contracts relating to relegation. Players coming here would have wrongly thought the same as the owners, that we won't be relegated, so signing a clause stating wages are reduced if we go down isn't likely to have stopped them joining us as they'd never expect it to come into play.
  4. Great start, if you could pick two batsmen to get out cheaply it would be him and Ponting!
  5. Blind with fury? Lols... I mean, I get it, it's like that guy's favorite TV show or whatever, but Jesus... Blind with fury? I wonder how much of this is Fox going, "We have to get out from under the fanboy wagon somehow." Know what I mean? Like the axed Family Guy and everyone went nuts, so they put it back on. Then they cancel Futurama and everyone goes nuts again. Maybe the next time they axe a primetime cartoon the fans won't make as big of deal in fear that their beloved show will be brought back as some differently-voiced uncool, er, thing. Fox is solely devoted to making money, they brough Family Guy back twice because repeat figures elsewhere and DVD sales were looking so profitable they wanted their share and Futurama came back for much the same reason, and i'm guessing the 4 recent feature length ones have made good money to get them interested in the series. So i'm hoping that as ever they'll be motivated by greed and when fans kick off and make it clear they won't watch or buy it if they change the voices Fox will give up and do what they should have in the first place.
  6. I don't know the exact weather forecast but theres no way we should be batting anymore, getting 400 in an 4th innings run chase is virtually impossible, we already have more than 500, we have to get bowling at them as soon as possible and make sure we get them out. If it was me, and i think Strauss may have done the same i would have had 5-10 overs at them today if it wasn't for the fact the light meant the aussie batsmen would have been able to go straight off, because i think we could have nicked a wicket or 2 tonight and been well set to rip into them tomorrow. If the sun is shining and Australia bat like they did in Cardiff, chasing 500 down, however unlikely, isn't impossible. The pitch is still terrific to bat on. I'd personally go with all the historical evidence, that nobody has chased down anything close to Enfland's total ever, and they actually showed the highest ever run chases at lords and they were all from 1930 and earlier! I know Strauss would look bad if they managed it, but he'd look far worse if he batted and then the weather went tits up and he ran out of time to bowl them out. I'm not saying the aussies mightn't have a crack at winning, but really they're going to look for the draw i think, banking on some bad weather over the 2 days and so i want to be bowling at them straight away, especially as there could be a bit in the pitch/conditions early morning.
  7. Surprise! You're Dead! Shirley. If its FNM i was going to go with 'Digging the Grave'
  8. Absolutely disgraceful and the work of complete fucking reatards. If Groening and Cohen have anything at all about them they will say no series if the original cast aren't offered the parts, and if they go with fox on this then they have no credibility whatsoever. They are already rich so they don't have the defence of needing to agree with Fox to pay the bills, so if they cave in to this they might as well not bother.

  10. Aussies 111-5 that's what i like to see! England's bowlers needed to step up for this one and they certainly have so far, have to hope they can really rip through them in case the weather comes into play again.
  11. Shame the bowling is 1/10th of what it was 4 years ago I don't think people appreciate just how good Simon Jones was in that series. Or Hoggard for that matter. I always thought that, Jones actually had the best bowling average of the English bowlers from that series, he had that knack of coming on and instantly changing the game with a wicket and for me he was starting to look like somebody who'd get a few runs with the bat. And seem to remember he was a good fielder as well, he's been a big loss. And Hoggard was ever reliable, bowled endless overs and always gave the team something, so also a big miss.
  12. Yeah, whether you think he's funny or not is one thing, but its never been about taking the piss out of the working class, its always been having a go at bigots, whilst at the same time light heartedly poking fun at foreigners.
  13. Great finish if nail biting and horrible at the same time! Most of the credit to Collingwood with the rest of the tail all chipping in and Anderson and Monty bravely clinging on there. Still need 1 or even 2 changes to the bowling attack for the next one though. I imagine Monty will be dropped as they won't want 2 spinners, the question then is do they give everyone else a second chance (which i think they will) or bring in two different bowlers.
  14. Collingwood and Swann could stick around a while, but not long enough, if the rest of them had helped and given them a chance then maybe, but we've lost. Batsmen obviously haven't done their job but bowling is what has cost us here.
  15. That's what annoys me, every bowler can have an off day or times when things just aren't happening, but there is no excuse for repeated stupidity, giving the batsmen exactly what he wants and not learning. There was no way they needed to pick 2 spinners, especially when one of them in Panesar was in terrible form for his county. I'm not saying Onions or Harmison would have turned the test completely but they might have helped!
  16. That's the worry, you'd hope this deep batting lineup can at least ensure a draw if the bowling doesn't improve tomorrow as we don't want to start of with a collapse and a defeat! I'm really disappointed as i expected the bowlers to come out fired up (after the tail had done so well with the bat) and get amongst the aussies early on, getting something more like 250 for 5 or 6 not 1. Really could do with a couple of early wickets tomorrow or Ponting in particular will take the game away from England.
  17. No idea if its true, but anything that suggests Ashley is fucking us about as much as possible to the very end sounds about right to me. And it is quite likely that what will be easilly the best deal for the club and its fans won't necesarilly be the best for Ashley so again that could be true.
  18. Just bought the first series. I think it gets even better in the 2nd series, hoping 3 and 4 will continue the standard.
  19. Don't see it regularly but i've seen a few different standups over the years and personally it transfers very well to TV for me. Apart from missing some off the cuff material the person does at that particular gig, especially if they're a Ross Noble type who a large part of the act is down to the night, i don't miss the not being there in the flesh side of things, so have always loved watching good standup on TV. I can imagine how others on here will feel its much better to be there though. Hmmm, can't think of another format that benefits more from the audience atmosphere personally, apart from maybe live music. Also as you hinted at the interaction for me is absolutely vital. For a really good comedian you should feel slightly nervous sitting in a conspicuous seat. I've never been attracted to live music, don't even go to see bands i love so as you can tell live interaction does nothing for me! And when i do go to stand up gigs there is no chance at all i will be sitting near the front for the comic to have a go! One of my mates went to see Jerry Sadowitz and was quite near the front and spet the whole gig shitting himself at what might happen, that's not my idea of fun. Better to be nearer the middle and see somebody else being picked on!

  21. For 30 Rock alone Tina Fey is a legend for me, if she's as funny as herself then even better! Agree about there being funny ones out there, but i often find like you that they're better off with funny women like Laverne who don't try doing joke/punchline they are just pretty funny in themselves. And Claudia Winkleman is always entertaining! Check out her SNL stuff, especially the bits about Palin. It's joked that she single handedly made the woman a total laughing stock and sunk the republican bid. I remember at the time reading about her doing Palin, long before i'd seen the fantastic 30 Rock, and i think her getting a bit of fame from that has helped 30 Rock's viewing figures a little which sadly aren't what they deserve to be and probably helped get them to comission the 3rd and 4th series.
  22. I do think they should widen their net a little and those names you mentioned would be on my list, well the first 3 anyway, Amstel in recent series of Buzzcocks has massively declined, just spending a whole episode berrating some ludicrously easy target (like Anthony from Blue) with the same obvious joke over and over, instead of being the sharp and quick witted guy who took over from Lamarr. I'd like to see Stephen Fry try it as well, we're used to him on QI but the episode of Buzzcocks he did as a guest worked well, but then he can do everything can't he!

  24. What ive seen of Omid's stand up is funny enough, though its one routine, i don't know what his whole range is like, what i saw of his sketch show wasn't good. And Amos is pretty average and when i've seen him on shows like Have i got news for you etc. falls back all the time on the black man being arrested for driving a nice car style of joke. And to be fair to Jo Brand, her standup is obvious and mostly about being fat, but theres a reason why she has appeared regularly on all of the comedy panel shows from mock the week, HIGNFY, QI, Buzzcocks et al because away from her stand up she is quite good and can mix it with the blokes on these shows where most women get burried from the start. aye suppose i haven't seen as much of those two as i would have seen jo brand, seen an improv 10min set stephen k amos did and it was fairly decent, as opposed to his normal standup routine. Don't know about brand being on those shows and being funny though, always considered her fairly dire in honesty, but for the likes of hignfy and qi she isn't totally thick and can keep in with the likes of bill bailey and co with actual answers on topic. Favourite comedians remain to be eddie izzard and dylan moran though (got tickets for eddie in decemeber =D) Yeah its hard to tell really until you've seen a few of a comedians routines, see if they can keep up the standard or if they have 1 good set which they always fall back on. I like Dylan Moran, also remember the first time i saw him doing stand up on TV, way back at the start of his career and i had no idea whether he was pissed, pretening to be pissed or a bit of both! I tend to like the ones who are good standups and who write and deliver good material, but who are also quick and great off the cuff on these types of shows as well. Somebody like Sean Lock i haven't actually seen much of his standup, his live at the Apollo one was only ok, but on these panel shows he is about the best of all of them, just comes out with some fantastic stuff.
