  1. Its unfair on the fans that travel the length of the country at great expense to see a weakened team so i agree Hughton should make that clear well in adavance, and i think he may have hinted at it by saying promotion is the priority in an interview somewhere, but fans need to know. For me, we aren't going to win it, not even close so i wouldn't care if he put out all reserves and kids or a mix of that and the odd first teamer, we may even sneak a win and the likes of Krul, Kadar et al can get another game or 2 experience for us.
  2. Strange old match that! We were playing really well for 30 mins or so and rocketed into 3-0 lead then last 10-15 mins of first half we struglled a bit. Second half was nearly all Swansea with Krul making 2 or 3 saves to go with the 2 Harper made first half and shots were blocked or cleared off the line and yet we nearly ended it with a Smith goal!!! Thought Colo was clear man of the match, both keepers did their job, both strikers scored though weren't amazing all round but job done and the new french lad made a promising cameo showing some pace and attacking instinct and setting it on a plate for Smith. Can't complain though, 3-0 against the second best defence behind us in the league and a little more of a gap opens up between the top 2 and the rest.
  3. If only more players would do that, more often! I'm not saying they should do it anytime they lose, but when fans travel a long way at great expense and get humiliated it would be good to see them dip into their millions to spare a few hundred quid to pay back loyal fans who back them regardless. And on a separate point, 300 fans for any away trip in the prem is a disgracefull following. Its like the smogs who couldn't even sell out 800 seats for their derby match against us (not our derby, but to them it is) even though its as near a match as they are liekly to get!
  4. I'll be honest i know jack shit about the lad, but assuming he's half decent and out of contract soon, it can't be a bad deal IF we can get him on loan with a view to an essentially pretty cheap full time deal down the line. What always worries you with Ashley is that enybody we are linked with (true or false) is going to be a replacement for somebody the fat cunt shouldn't be selling in the first place.
  5. Job done away from home but not a game you'd want to sit through again! Enrique was class as usual, you don't really need to say it anymore its just a given. Smith did his job well, i thought Simpson had a good game and Nolan scored the winner so fair play there. The midfield as a whole created very little and Carrol due to sickness and Harewood due to being Harewood didn't offer much with Jonas showing his usual full range from good and awful. His pace and running causes defences big problems and relieves alot of pressure on our defence and he covered a hell of alot of ground for 90 mins, but on the other side his final ball and shooting was shocking most of the time. Providing January isn't a complete disaster in terms of players sales then there is no reason for us not to be proted as this division is so much worse than i ever thought it could be. With our defence hardly letting any in you have to wonder if Shola had stayed fit would we already be way out in front!!!
  6. I read in the chronicle that he's failed to get a contract with Burnley and Sheff utd. You have to worry that if Sheffield didn't think he was good enough, why the hell would he be good enough for us! Still if we do sign him i hope he goes on to do well for us this season.
  7. Toontastic isn't investing as a legal entity though, is it? What's to stop us having toontastic, prawntastic and noelie-tastic, for example? I think we should get as many shares as is available when we add up what people are willing to pay, because the whole point of this is to raise enough to buy out the fat cunt in charge, so i don't see any point in turning down money from here if its there. Obviously people will have to work out some faur way that everyone is happy with of how things are split up, but the more we can contriubute from here the better.
  8. Looks more like Paul Hogan! Give her a big moustache and she'll be Hulk Hogan. You can see that John looks like his mum though. When Terry is alot older, stick a blond wig on him and that will be exactly how he looks!
  9. I'd add 6 nations rugby, Wimbledon and like Alex said the Olypmpics, you could stick the Ryder Cup there as well, but thats all i'd be bothered with. I was reading somewhere they reckon Brown could be doing this with the Ashes to get back at Murdoch for returning to his first love of bumming the tories, i doubt its true, but i hope it is, and i'd have phoned murdoch and told him exactly why i was doing it if i were Brown!
  10. Put me down to join Alex in the prawn sandwich brigade! (£150)
  11. Put me down for it as well, and i'm happy to pay more than the £30-50 if we're going for more shares, or different groups like Ritchie and Snakehips have mentioned.
  12. Probably not a bad idea to try some fundraising things like that in addition to the more important matter of getting people to invest larger ammounts directly. And to really rub it in, have people selling tickets for the lottery outside SJP on matchdays! I certainly think this whole project is well worth a go, but i suspect it will need some clear eveidence that a large ammount of money has already been taken in to show its a genuine possibility to get alot more fans on board, and hopefully they can do this. My other worry is that you could end up with all the money raised an offer put in and Ashley decides to be a complete cunt as usual and turn it down because its the fans and he wants to piss us off even more!
  13. I always find it amusing that some people (and the sun itself of course) seem to think the paper actually has a serious influence on the election and that they make their decision and then people follow. When of course they see which way the result is going to go (and we all know that) and kiss the arse of that party whilst taking cheap shots at the party who's going to lose. But in reality they've always been tories deep down, following whatever murdoch tells them and they just temporarilly resided up labours arse when they knew they had no choice because they'd be in power for a while.
  14. Outside of the obivous teams and usually one extra team each season like an Everton its pretty shite, and we were part of that shitness! I don't know that one single team outside the "big four" i saw at St James last season (including ours) impressed me in the slightest and it looks at least as bad this year. And i know its along time since we played in the championship (then second division) but i'm sure when Keegan's team got promoted that the division wasn't as truly awful as the one i'm watching this season. If our average collection of players turns up for about half an hour a match we win most games.
  15. Has he done anything but whinge about refs this season! He can only hide behind it for so long before people point out its really down to having no Ronaldo in all those games like last season when they didn't play well and he bailed them out. Also last season his defence allowed alot of 1-0 wins, hasn't been happening so much this season.
  16. Not pretty, but ground out a 1-0 win which i'll happilly take. As people have said Harper and Enrique stood out with Carroll also putting in a decent shift, but good to see us back to getting a clean sheet, with Saylor still yet to return.
  17. Sadly he will easilly find a club, just like Lee Hughes did after killing somebody and just like Barton will if he ever got in trouble with the law again. King is worse than Barton though, on several occasions now he's assaulted women in addition to various other offences, though that's not a defence of Barton who i'd like to see the back of at the club.
  18. Exactly. I couldn't believe how much we got for him, it was an excellent deal...but only if all that money was given to Keegan to bring in the right players he wanted and we needed. As for Milner, he obviously has the lack of pace and inconsistent crossing, but also lookes like he will always chip in with a share of assists and goals and he always worked his arse off. I don't think he's on the verge of becoming a worldbeater either, but efinitely will be an effective prem player in a good side i'd think.
  19. This is what's annoying, by and large if you don't actually swing an arm/hand at somebody you'll get away with a yellow, but our player didn't. And if we appeal they won't overturn it as they'll see he does grab him by the throat and they'll have enough to just about back the ref, which they'll do. How the little shit for them who started the whole thing by stopping us get on with the game and then twatting Kadar only got a yellow is a mystery though. And it was a pen, you can't wave a hand in the air where the ball is when challenging in the box, if its seen you risk being caught, though to eb fair it was probably just one of those mad insticntive things players do before thinking now and then. However the linesman on the east stand side was a clown, everytime there was an attack (by either team in each half) he just randomly kept giving stupid offsides, he couldn't do it quick enough, yet he never felt the need even once to make any other sort of decision even if it was about a yard from his face. I remember late in the game at 2-1 when he finally gave us a decision in the left hand corner, Enrique made a point of deliberately and sarcastically applauding in the linesmans face for a good 4 or 5 seconds!
  20. Excellent. That's that downloaded and saved on the hard drive. I tracked down and downloaded both series of TMWRNJ and both series of FOF a while back via bittorrent, so they are out there for people if they want them all.
  21. Has been for years! Surely it isn't beyond the club to employ people big enough to catch and throw balls back to players quickly. Any team who want to waste time at St James' don't even have to try, its done for them. As for the match, shit first half and 1-0 to them was about right, Harewood was a waste of a shirt again and was lucky to start the second half at all. Second half we came out more interested and looking like we had a chance, and at the end they showed some fight to go for the winner when down to 10 men for whatever reason the ref dished out the card. Enrique was out on his own as our best player, later in the game taking it upon himself to try and be our main playmaker at times when others were failing to, though i've no porblem with the award to Nolan for MOTM for snatching a gaol that our season may yet hinge upon, because a draw today in the run we're in and we would be in trouble.
  22. Excellent news, i'd assumed it would be his mate Robin Ince supporting as normal (who is fine himself) but Francis is great, firing out his deadpan one liners an has a mind a bit like Stephen Wright.
  23. I thought last night was sitcom at its best, especially the bit in the Mexican. 'Oh shit, Daddy's got his hat back on' I'm really surprised at comments on last night, i thought it was easilly the best episode of this series, without question. The first episode was alright, second was good and last night the best.
  24. Totally agree. For all i love big al and i think he would do well here, its one of those situations where if he came in pre-season i would have no worries. Where as we are a quarter into the season, built up some momentum and CH has done well. That being said, Shearer would lift the place and with him and new ownership we would finally have that backroom stability we have been waiting for, that inturn will filter through to the playing squad. Shearer WILL bring leadership and a strong character to boss the team/side...i just think that for this season certainly Hughton should be given an instrumental role. I don't think it'd rock the boat at all to be honest. Barton would have been the only real big issue to deal with and thanks to his injury that's gone now. The players have shown that (in no small part thanks to Hughton) they can do the job comfortably in this division whilst everything off the pitch is anarchy and they'd be just the same under big Al for me. Also whilst i think Hughton has done a great job and would like to see him kept on in the future, i don't see him as permanent manager or doing the job in the prem. We don't know exactly how Shearer will turn out as a boss but if he is to become permanent manager i'd like him to get at least half a season or so learning in the championship before hopefully promotion to the prem and the real tetst for him and us.
  25. The programme will still be funny without him, same format, group of stand ups and plenty to work with as ever, thats the good thing with the comedy panel shows that they can contunue for ever basically and survive people leaving. He was clearly the funniest thing on it though and will be missed, even by the other comedians who were always pissing themsleves laughing at his stuff along with the audience! Be interesting to see if they decide on another regular person for Frankie or just change it each week.
