http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...tle-switch.html Article in the mail saying he will sign for us on monday but Everton are appealing for compensation, interesting if true!
-
Even if you think there was diving, the De Jong is s straight red all day, Van Bommel committed so many fouls you can pick two yellows out of them easy and Robben blatantly kicked the balla way on a yellow, sad way to be sent off but its a red.
-
Football 1- bunch of cloggers 0 and great to see! If Webb hadnt bottled the reds they'd be down to 7 or 8 men, he booked the spaniard for kicking the ball away but when he knew Robben's was a second yellow he bricked it. So the Dutch can shove their whingeing at the end there, they ref should have had them down to 9 men at halftime, they've got no business at all blaming the officials when they got exactly what they deserved.
-
Can't say i disagree with them, i want to see the best football team winning and if all the Dutch have to offer is kicking the shit out of the spanish players i'd rather they lost. If they were just getting stuck in and working hard whilst playing a bit of football then fine, but they've tried to win by kicking the opposition and so like the BBc lot i'd ratyher Spain won. Van Bommel should have had about 4 yellows by now, i don't know what he has to do to walk, and De Jong should have gone for a straight red, and if they had we'd have seen some bloody goals as Spain ripped through them.

Aye flog him only to see him return to score a hatful of 30 yard screamers against us everytime Yeah, have to make sure we sell him to a championship club, which to be fair is about his level. If he plays against us, we all know he's nailed on to blast a freekick or two past us!
-
I don't really know anything about him so i've no idea how it'll work out, but Hughton knows his budget, he knows the guy is versatile and he obviously thinks he has potential for the prem, so i hope he's right. I would hope Hughton would try to recoup some of this outlay by now selling Ryan Taylor as we all saw he was terrible in the prem, so i don't see any point in keeping him really.

Always been Pedro and always will be as the chances of this country producing anyone better and us signing them are none exsistent!
-
Sadly all too familiar, the people who run football in this country are as useless as fifa and uefa and would rather piss away a billion on building wembley than investing in the future of football here. Anyone with even a basic understanding of football seems able to grasp the things Wilkinson was talking about, its not ricket science. Kids should not be playing 11 a side at all, they should be allowed feedom to enjoy football and try out all their skills and tricks instead of the current ideals of getting lads who are big, strong, have stamina and can kick the ball hard! Aside from Joe Cole the last genuine flair player this country produced at international level is Gazza and that is a disgrace, but how many potential flair players were lost because of our current system which doesn't favour that type of player at all. Where me and my mates used to play football there was a guy coaching a team of kids (prob about 7-10 age bracket) and his sessions consisted of the kids running around the park twice, running up a hill backwards, some warm ups and then 11 aside hoofing the ball up and down the pitch at the two biggest kids. This is a guy in charge of a proper kids team!

Gemany are everything our bunch of overpaid, thick as pig shit, bottlers aren't. All know what they're doing, all confident and at peak form, all work their arse off for each other and give a toss and all comfortable on the ball and intelligent in their movement off it. They look as thought they've spent their careers playing together, whereas our lot look like they've never met! Also as somebody else said earlier i haven't found anything to dislike about them either and on this form they'll take some stopping, no wonder they call themselves the "Tournament Team"

We need to finish above the mackems next season
Papa Lazaru replied to Citizensmith's topic in Newcastle Forum
If it is a mackem troll he's been sorely disappointed as he'd have been aiming for a thread of everyone saying we'll easilly finish above them so he can go on to the mackem board and they can have another 50+ page thread on their favourite subject of "deluded mags". They're sadly now the established prem club (only just mind!) not us, they have more money to spend and as it stands a more proven prem manager, so they're favourites to finish highest. However Stevie is right that they have that ability to turn any situation to shit, i mean look at the money they've spent since they got up and they've achieved absolutely fuck all. So its not impossible to finish above them like some people think, just not the most likely scenario as of yet. -
Steven Gerrard doing a John Terry?, But worse?.
Papa Lazaru replied to henda11's topic in Newcastle Forum
I got that earlier this evening with an added bit saying Rooney got caught with a prostitute as well! And that the papers agreed to let him get home from world cup then they'll print. Even if one or both turns out to be bollocks you instantly can see them being true about this bunch of dickheads. -
He won't be finished and will no doubt be on top form again for manu, even in the Cl, but i have doubts that he'll ever take a world cup by storm and show he's really in that top bracket of players. Messi may not have scored yet but he's done more on his own than our entire squad managed because he is in the top bracket of players.
-
Quite a few people myself included have been saying this and whilst i would have loved to see England win a world cup i would so much rather it had been won by teams of the past. They had players i could respect/admire, people i thought i would like, could have a drink with but so many of the current lot are complete tools. So the only small consolation to us fans not winning is quite a few arsehole players have missed out and been shown up, not much but a little consolation! When i compare them to the rugby union players representing their country they're not fit to lace their boots and the cricketers, you see more joy and passion playing for England from players born in South Africa and both the union and cricket teams have turned up in the big moments and won world cups, ashes series etc. Football is the word cup i want to see us win more than any other but we're fucking miles away with the shower we have representing us. Whether its Cappello or soembody else in charge, the next game we play they need to make a very clear point and not even pick some of this shower, just to show they don't have the divine right to the shirt as they currently believe and that they actually have to earn it. I'm not saying they can't or shouldn't be allowed back in the team, but they can fucking earn it and other players can be given a shot instead of them.

I think he escapes the worst of it, because his hype is not as grand as theirs. And because against Algeria he did his job and did it well as Keegan pointed out on ITV, he was ok against Slovenia bar a couple of dodgy passes and bad today in amongs many bad and at times disgracefull efforts. So i don't see why he is due much stick to be honest.
-
Thing is, come the next world cup will he still have the ability to be incisive? This world cup should have been built around: A.Cole, J.Cole, and Rooney imo. I know Wayne didn't perform at all, but I feel that was as much down to the system as it was his own fault. Too many Hail Mary passes from Gerrard et al and too many blind hoofs up front from the central defenders. Milner did all right, Johnson ditto, but Gerrard, Lampard, Barry, and Terry were all atrocious. Not 100% it was all down to them, I think that system might have been useful in qualifying, but by the Gods we looked terrible in the competition proper. well it's over with, now we can get back to being utterly dejected about overpaid players who aren't fit to wear our strip instead. I don't think the current toon team would have done any worse than the "golden generation" of England's team have managed!
-
At 4-1 i turned over to the cricket to watch some sportsmen who actually give a toss about playing for England and who are capable of turning up and doing it when it matters against the best. Also the team isn't filled with overpiad arseholes! Until we scored we were shite with probably the worst defending i've seen from England in years, then we got a shocking decision, but we still had a whole half to play at 2-1 against an average side and yet were were comprehensively pissed upon from a great height and deserved a caning. The tournament as a whole was a disgraceful effort from nearly all of them, including the manager who i expected alot better from considering his pedegree. I hope the media rips the arse off them to be honest, they played like they didn't give a shit and were utterly clueless and when you compare them to the pride say the rugby union lot show, they would run through brick walls for their country, it means everything to them. And if people think Rooney is in the same league as Messi as a footballer they want to look at his 4 games at the highest level and see what he produced.
-
I'm sticking with what i've thought would happen from the USA game onwards, we'll do enough to get through the group, and progress untill we turn in a genuinely good/great peformance, preferably a brave, battling one and then go out on pens as soon as we do play well, probably to Germany or Argentina!
-
Or twenty-foot high chickens?
-
He looks to fit to be Geremi, running around and everthing. He did however pick out the first defender with the freekick and corner i saw him take, so it will be him!
-
Rooney will be a one man striker in some games, and Steven Gerrard will be the one playing off him from deep. Rooney is better than Shearer in my view, as much as people will want to slap me for that, and Gerrard in that role is better than Sheringham. Ferdinand will clearly be better than Crouch in some peoples eyes, but the big mans 21 international goals to Les' 5 suggest Peter has had a better impact at international level. He's not like. Different type of players to each other anyway and you can only compare at the end of Rooney's career. Also you can only compare Rooney at his best (when he reacehs it) with the Shearer before any of the career threatening injuries and imagine that Shearer going on to the best he could be without the injuries. The injury free Shearer would have broken any scoring record going (for club and country) and easilly outscored Rooney at the end of a career. Who is the best all round, time will tell, could be either of them, but as a scorer its Shearer without question. And currently Rooney like most players isn't as good as Messi, no matter how much some people say he is. You can argue about who is the most effective and argue about peoples goal tallys and direct assists etc. but in terms of skill, flair and technique Messi is on his own. I've seen him score goals for Barca (going past god knows how many players), that Rooney just couldn't score. What's annoying a an England fan is that the Rooney for manu just before the late season injuries was for me second behind Messi in form players in the world and i thought Rooney was heading for a storming world cup this year. Hopefully he gets a rocket up his arse and still turns up this time.

Well 2 games in and i literally don't know why Rooney and Lampard bothered coming as they have been a complete waste of space. Gerrard had one decent game and one shit one albeit wasted on the left and Heskey either doesn't finish or doesnt even take the shot when its on! What Joe Cole has to do to get a game i have no idea, about the only flair player we have, likes playing on the left and unlike the rest of them probably could manage to control a football! As shite as the players were last night, Cappello isn't helping by sticking Gerrard on the elft after he played well in the middle, not playing Cole and picking Heskey and Lampard. Also his subs, he takes off Lennon who was the nearest we had to a threat last night and leaves on players who had been utter bollocks. Its getting a bit like Sven where certain players like Lampard and Rooney know by and large they'll play so there isn't the threat to kick them up the arse. And i expect better of Cappello there, he's usually willing to drop people and pick on form not rep, but he's slipping into the usual habits. Also doesn't help that he didn't bring Johnson and Walcott! As Keegan said, Barry is about the only player who did their job, but if he's your man of the match its because your creative players and scorers have done nothing.
-
Unlike Beckham he got away with it solely because Ronaldo did the wink and gave eveyone a different hate figure to focus on instead, it saved Rooney from a load of stick. So far its not just that his play and particularly his control have been shit its that he is barely trying and looks like he couldn't give a shit which is the oppositte of how he usually is.
-
Good result for us, though the USA were completely robbed there! The ref giving a freekick to Slovenia when about 4 or 5 USA players were being fouled and they scored was shocking. For neither the ref or linesman to call even one of those fouls and just let the goal stand was terrible. Still, it worked out for us!
-
We all knew we'd get one of the "big 4" away as our first match, there was no way they'd give us a nice easy home game to start with so we could try and keep the momentum going from last season. However as has been said if you're going to play manu away then early is always best and of the top clubs they are often the slowest starters so it could have been worse. And Villa at home, well as Stevie said, we owe that lot one and why not do them straight away, first home game back in the prem!
-
You're never going to have an easy time of it supporting England so this was to be expected! Not a bad performance all round, just not good either. Problem is the two best chances fell to Heskey and Wright-Phillips. Does anyone know how the hell Wright-Phillips got into the squad ahead of Johnson and Walcott! People say Walcott has no footballing brain but Phillips is the definition of headless chicken, gives the ball away, runs up blind alleys and no composure or thought whatsoever. And Heskey cannot finish. Its a shame because i actually thought he was arguably man of the match and he'd set up our goal, but he will always miss chances like that and come quarters and semis you win or lose on the one chance a striker gets, he won't score it.
