surprised you haven't reacted to three at the back suggestion I'm sure Colo, Campbell and Williamson would be a decent combo as a 3 and Enrique and Perch capable of getting up and down, but i still think we'd end up a mess as always playing that system. Sir Bobby was a great manager and everytime he did it were were a complete shambles from 1 to 11, so i don't imagine Hughton storming the prem with it! It worked that one time under Big Al away to Stoke because he knew they'd be humping the ball into the box in the air from iopen play, set pieces and throw ins for 90 mins and he wanted more aerial protection, so as an occasional tactic for very particular situations, maybe, but otherwise, no!

Andy Carroll had his big chance, and blew it.
Papa Lazaru replied to Kevin's topic in Newcastle Forum
Aye, pick of the midfield. Not saying a lot but actually looked the part in terms of getting around the pitch and being involved. That's the difference, Barton gives me hope he will be able to cut it, he can picka pass and looks to try it and get forward, i don't think he was bad last night and will get better. Smith is always going to be lost at this level and Nolan in the same midfield as Smith makes us way to slow and imobile, we can't afford both of them starting. As for Carroll, yes he missed an easy chance for him, but he didn't dwell on it and was most peoples man of the mtch for his efforts and i think he did well, and i look forward to seeing him with a strike partner at home to Villa where he'll have a bit more help. -
I've always liked the look of Williamson being solid and unspectatcular, just good at the job and hoped he could take that into the prem. Early to judge but i think he will and as people have said he bailed others out last night. Enrique and Colo just need to remember we're not in the championship anymore and if you fanny about or take risks the top players will punish you and they'll be ok.

I'd be surprised at citeh giving a rival for CL place/title exactly what they need. Wenger's insistence on never having a top keeper is one of the reasons he's won nowt for years now, citeh would be stupid to help them out!

Who's still here from then though? Steven Taylor, Harper and Ameobi? The management and boardroom is completely different and there's no Shearer in any capacity either. I just think we haven't and won't try to get him sadly, because unless he's absolutely desperate to go home to Cardiff we'd be in with a good shout of gettign him, because he loved it up here and his problem was with Souness who's long gone, and possibly Shearer who isn't around either.

If it had ben a German club he wanted to play for they'd have helped straight away!

Film/moving picture show you most recently watched

Which are best for if you wear actual geps! I haven't bothered with a 3D film yet, but when i do i'll need to manage wearing both my glasses and the 3D ones to see it properly? I would guess IMAX just cos they're bigger - I felt like Mike TV in them today. I wouldn't fancy trying to get them over normal glasses though tbh. Cheers, was just wondering as there's plenty of people who need their glasses for the cinema so wondered what they were doing at 3D films! -

Been a strange one this, but it does seem foronce it isn't our owner/directors who've dicked about and cocked things up. It would appear that Marseille had a an agreement and they've gone back on their word to the player/NUFC and he certainly doesn't seem ready to take it!! I wish they'd just get it sorted one way or another though, so we can get on with the season, hopefully with him here!

Looked like a decent decision by the ref to give a red, but not the worst i've seen, it wasn't a full on launching yourself off the ground completely to land on somebody's leg with both feet type challenge, the sort Gerrard has specialised in over his career. And the other sending off was harsh to say it was deliberate hand ball, and made worse because they'd let Ngog off with what was a completely deliberate one earlier.

Come on Titus, you can get Brum the win yet, theres still time!
-
Just caught the end of what Merson was saying, but sounds like Titus has dropped a bollock to get Brum back in the game, he's going to have the crowd on his back so quickly if he keeps this up!
-
I'd be ecstatic to get Bellamy back as he should still be here with Souness out on his arse at the time instead, however i doubt we'll go in form him myself or if we do it'll be the usual cheap attempt not coming close to what's required. He'd make a collossal difference to our team if we had him here. He loved his time here and would definitely consider coming back (if we were being serious and not dicking about) but as people have said he would like to play for Hughes so Fulham have a great chance.

Exactly!

Thought Enrique looked quality from day one and i stuck by that throughout his time in the prem, with Perch though i've always ben worried. When you read the forest fans comments, they weren't in any way bitter about him leaving, in fact they nearly all liked the bloke and his effort, so i took what they said to be honest appraisals and they by and large thought he wasn't really good enough for the top end of the championship, never mind the prem. I hope its wrong and the lad does a top job for us, but i think RB will be a problem as he might struggle, Raylor is never a prem player and Simpson i don't think will be quite good enough. I actually wanted Saylor at RB out of what we have as i think he's put in some good games there, then he got injured.

I can't say i personally call us united ever in conversation, though like JawD i'd chant it at a match if one was started, but if anyone i was talking to used 'united' to me then they'd better be referring to NUFC and nobody else when they're from here! The pundits and sky types should know better, but they're up the arse of the 'big 4' anyway so its hardly a shock that they refere to manu as united alot of the time, it sums up their dismisal of any club who isn't in the top 4. But as Parkinpants said, its isn't about manu fans calling themselves united its if fans of other clubs do it, which is cringeworthy.

Welcome To Glasgow - Advice On Your Visit To Glasgow
Papa Lazaru replied to luvly_jubbly's topic in Newcastle Forum
I only saw the second half but i certainly saw some nice passing and one touch moves from us, though the end product was mostly lacking which cost us in the end, but definitely some decent football. However i am worried if Hughton is going to play that high line defence looking for offsides in the prem as we'll be murdered! -
I don't have any problem with what Hughton's done myself. He's gone to Ashley and asked what he's working with and accepted it, he's never going to change Ashley and wants this job, so he'll do the best he can with what he's given. Kicking off about it would change nothing under Ashley so we'd end up changing manager and being in turmoil all over again, ony for the next guy to have to accept the exact same lack of money and ambition. If i thought Hughton kicking off would work i'd say go for it, but he knows it won't, and nobody really knows what he's said to Ashley behind the scenes anyway. At the minute its just about a lack of funds, if Ashley did what he did to Keegan and put a little prick like wise in place to overrule the manager and piss transfers up, then i'd expect him to kick off as Keegan did, because you can't (or shouldn't) work under those conditions.

starting 11 for the first game of the season
Papa Lazaru replied to Dr Gloom's topic in Newcastle Forum
Assuming Campbell doesn't quite make it and that Hughton will go 4-5-1 i'd go with: -----------------------Harper Perch--------Colo---------Williamson----------Enrique Routledge---------Guthrie--------Barton-------Jonas ---------------------Nolan ----------------------------Carroll -

Soham killer Huntley to sue over throat slash attack
Papa Lazaru replied to Craig's topic in General Chat
You were being superior, maybe not smug to be fair! You said "it's beyond reason..." ie. those you disagree with have no reason/are thinck or ignorant and you said "what the fuck is wrong with you guys", not exactly a compliment. Surely you could have just stated you're against it because you think its barbaric etc. and not suggested people who think otherwise are idoiots? I concede this! I was just frustrated earlier and was definitely too strong. Apology made. Cheers, and like i said apologies for the smug bit! -
I'd guess at Blackpool, west brom and another to go down Manu/Chelsea for the title as usual Arse, citeh, pool and spurs fighting for CL everton, villa and perhaps one surprise team going for europa As for us, i'll wait and see who else we sign, and who else gets injured before kick off, but i'm actualyl not worried about relegation, just sadly you don't expect us to do much either.

fan base , fan base, fan base Only things you can asses which is the bigger club on is stadium size/average attendance and turnover/market value, that's about it. If you want to assess who is the most successful club you look at trophies won and then everybody argues about how far back in time you can count the trophies from! So if you want to argue size on here people are going to mention the things that pertain to size, if you want to argue success that's a different thing completely or it wouldn't be a different word in the dictionary.

I genuinely don't worry about results pre-season, more seeing something performance wise of what we can do, but you do want to avoid big defeats, and from the sounds of it on SSN we're being outplayed. Mind you a midfield with Smith, Nolan and Raylor is going to be found out by any decent footballers, and whilst i think Guthrie is a good footballer, he isn't fast so thats a one paced midfield!

£14.50 Ashley will have, not "The club" no doubt!
