  1. He probably wouldn't i know, but as last man and stopping him getting the chance to get the ball i'd have said a straight red. And it was completely cynical and off the ball so wasn't some accidental little trip or whatever. But it was bever going to happen, he'd given a pen at old trafford, no way was he going to follow that with a red card, fergie wouldn't let him ref another game there!
  2. He'd already cheated earlier when he was cluthing his face and doign 3 rolls like a little prick because somebody had brushed a hand near him. And as ever the commentators acted like the arselickers they are and defended it by saying he's extra sensitive because he got a cut lip against Everton, ooh the poor baby, for fucks sake! Webb spoilt his days work as he'd done well until the O'Shea foul which was a red, he was last man so its a no brainer. Mind Liverpool were laughably bad at times there, i kept forgetting Torres, Gerrard and Cole were playing at times away from the goals, and those three are easilly the best they have.
  3. Same old manu, players and fans whingeing non stop at the ref for daring to get decisions right instead of just giving them every single one. How dare he go to old trafford and be fair, that's not what they expect! Liverpool have been/are shite though, but manu are devloping a nice ability to fuck up this season when in control!
  4. He was going so well till this load of bollocks! I said this the other day, its not just that he is laughably deluded and full of shit, but he was completely disrespectful to Bolton, Blackburn and all the fans there who've paid his wages when he dismisses them as being beneath them and nit good enough for the worlds greatest manager! Blackburn fans should tell him to fuck off every match if they have any self respect after the way he's dismissed their club while on the payroll.
  5. That's the thing when you watch Perch, at now time when the opposition have the ball do i feel he'll be in the right position, he just doesn't know where he should be. Raylor isn't a defender, he's a pretty limited midfielder but i'd have more confidence in him at least being where he should be in defence.
  6. And don't forget linking him with manu, citeh or chelski straight away! Sounds like he was as good as i hoped and Tiote would appear to have ended Smith's forays into the first team if Hughton has any sense, and since he dropped Smith today it seems he has!
  7. Swann Definitely worth a listen to the above! Not only one of the best cricketers in the world and rapidly becoming an England legend, but also a massive toon fan with family from Blyth. Also has a good sense of humour and didn't let the guy's attempt at slating our fans go by. I know over on SMB he's wound them up a couple of times with various tweets slatting the mackems etc.
  8. The flying spaghetti monster is the only religion worth taking seriously!
  9. I'd have been happy enough with Houllier then, but i was very happy with KK, it just didn't matter who it was if fuckwit ashley was going to install wise over their head and give him all the power over transfers and leave the manager hamstrung. Would have been a better DOF appointment than the little cockney fuckwit we got. Yeah, not that KK likely would or should have to work with a DOF, he'd have been miles ahead of wise, and if KK left Houllier could have stepped in instead of joe fucking kinnear!

  11. I think first half he had a bad time of it, second half not so bad, but i did think his set pieces were canny throughout, he had one where he shot near post and it was going in but the defender got a head to it and it went safely over. But even when he has a bad game he is capable of making something happen, Smith is just a liability.
  12. Yeah i rember that, the plan was Bobby with Jose as his no. 2 then when Bobby retires, Jose take sover as the main man, sadly for us, Mourinho said he wouldn't take it because he knew Bobby and he knew he woul'd never retire! That's the kind of shitty luck we have here, we could have had Mourinho if he'd just believed Bobby would eventually hand over the reigns to him!
  13. They were my feelings at the time. I thought Bobby was getting too old and losing his grip on the reigns. In hindsight, it's all been downhill from there and you should be careful what you wish for Whatever percentage of toon fans it was who thought Sir Bobby's time was up they didn't want it done in anything like the shitty way Fat Fred did it, nor did any of us want it done at that time, with no idea what to do next and follow him with Souness. The fans as we came to the end of that season thought in the close season, either let Bobby move upstairs to work with another manager, or just have a ambassador role with the club or a scouting one, anything he wanted really, or let him say he'd had enough and leave with dignity, that's what we all wanted. Then we'd have had time to get a proven boss and give them time to bring in their players and have a pre-season with them, and take it from there. Howevere Fat Fred deceided to start the season with Sir Bobby who he said you never sack, then sack him afte a handful of games, leave us fucked and bring in Souness to wreck the club. That is not what any of the fans who'd had wanted to let Bobby go would have done, only one idot thought it was the way to go.
  14. Regular Christian attendance according to this Attendance is about 3m - the biased author also quotes the old "consider themselves Christian" maxim which has to be the vaguest identifying criteria known to man. Catholic attendance of 0.9m given that its pretty much compulsory shows their usual claim of 6m (which includes people like me) is bullshit. This is why I'd like to see the Census reject the ambiguity of "consider yourself Christian" and ask questions about attendance and actual belief. I know a lot of the fuzzy Christians would still say they believe in God but it would still be interesting from a "should this be taken for granted" pov. I know what you mean, i've talked to a few people who say they're protestant/catholic etc but when pressed have no interest in that religion and in some cases don't even really believe in god, they were just christened that as a kid and never really thought to class themsleves as atheist or agnostic. There's less and less actively religious christians in this country with each passing year.
  15. Ridiculous to say Barton should be dropped ahead of Smith or Nolan imo. Yeah, Barton was poor first half againt Blackpool (though his set pieces were still canny) and average second half, but he's well ahead of Smith and Nolan in performances this season.
  16. You think he'll get 'the goals'? I suspect he won't get enough to cover for what he lacks elsewhere sadly, he should already have 4 in the bag so far and if he had taken them he'd be worth his place.
  17. I don't think its fair on Hughton to say Nolan has any say on things like that. Even if Nolan was suggesting things, which theres no proof of, Hughton is going to do what he wants and thinks is best. As for Nolan the palyer, if he doesn't score or set one up in or around the box in a game there's a problem because he offers little else and leaves us lacking in midfield and attack simultaneously. Because he's now missed 2 or 3 good chances against wolves and another yesterday, for me his place should be under pressure as his all round performances aren't great, he needs the goals.
  18. Having seen the replays, he did make better saves than i gave him credit for, but Nolan and Barton shouldn't have given him a chance to save them from the positions they were in. But easilly on another day one of those or the Williamson header goes in and its a different result, so people don't need to hit the panic button yet!
  19. Didn't get long enough and didn't get enough of the ball to really show what he can do, but you felt something could happen straight away. You could see he'd have the ball under control instantly and he played the odd simple pass, did a little drag back at one point and had one run into the box where he pulled it back but nobody could beat the defender to it.
  20. I hope every second of his visit here is plagued by protestors following him and shouting abuse at him non stop and that somebody tries to arrest the decrepit, paedo protecting nazi! As for the fact tax payers are having to foot the bill to have this nonce here is an absolute disgrace, the ctaholic chuyrch are worth millions, they can pay for him.
  21. A good opening post on this thread. I've highlighted the reported comment as the sort of negativity that just does my head in. Elsewhere on here someone criticises Shola for scoring a poor quality hat trick - for fuck's sake man! Shola on reliable authority is a very good lad who lacks aggression from a standing start - people who ought to know tell me so! Has a lot of natural ability but lacks consistency, is injury prone and has underachieved hugely. Seen plenty of worse forwards but to be fair they didn't last anything like as long. For the club and his sake he probably should have been moved on a while back but............ ......there are many people on and off the pitch at SJP down the years far more deserving of the abuse that Shola cops. If he falls on his arse today I won't boo him and if he scores I will cheer because I'm not a miserable twat - I'm calm! Thats spot on, he should have been like John Fashanu. Shola is the perfect illustration of how you need genuine desire to succeed at the top level in football. Yeah, i've never subscribed to the view he's shit, because he isn't. He lacks the hunger, aggression and application required to make the most of what he has. He also, years ago needed a good long spell out the team to sort out his long running injury/fitness problems and some better coaching to teach him some of the basics he should be doing, sadly none of that happened.
  22. Yeah, we created enough chances, Nolan missed a sitter. so did Barton, Enrique blazed one over, Carroll had one saved, Lovenkrands scuffed one i think, and there were others, with Williamson hitting the post the only slightly unlucky one. Problem was that Williamson and possibly Carroll's aside, the finishing was appalling and didn't deserve a goal. Also the final ball and crossing was terrible at times, despite the fact we created all those chances. Smith offered less than nothing and should be out for Tiote straight away, and when Nolan doesn't score the 4-5-1 can struggle as Carroll gets left going wide for the ball or doesn't have help when he wins it. Unfortunately after a good start to the season Barton had a poor game, so with him, Smith and Nolan offering little we had nothing in the engine room. And Smith was an idiot with that challenge for the penalty. Hughton had change it at half time and give Ben Arfa and Lovenkrands 45 mins to try and turn it round, but like every toon boss before him he refuses point blank to make changes at halftime and we paid for it. I'm not going to panic though, we had a bad day, though still created chances, lets see what happens in the next few games with the new signings bedding in before everyone says we're shite again. We didn't become worldbeaters after the Villa game and we're not the wors team ever after this. It is a big balls up as these are the games we have to be winning but its only 4 games in.
  23. I want Ben Arfa to start, really looking forward to watching him play for the toon, but no way should either CB be dropped for Campbell. Firstly because i think both are doing a good job so far and don't deserve to be dropped, and second because Campbell has so far not even played a full 90 mins for the reserves never mind a run of games showing he's back to full fitness.
  24. Pretty certain that was Kenny Wharton's testimonial in 1989. The Fairs Cup winners had a match beforehand IIRC. Nar Boli played in Anderson's. Gazza was there for Wharton's. The corner started singing Gazza is a wanker and he gave wank gesticulations from his shorts. Thinking about he might have just been named up never made it. I was very young. I do remember the "sign him on" chants to Waddle though. Taking me back now, i went to both Anderson's and Wharton's, i wouldn't be surprised if i still have the programme from 1 or both knocking about somewhere!
  25. Cheers! What a bunch of cocks they really are!
