Take away Shepherd and Souness (or Paul and Barry Chuckle as they should be known) and it is very strange, with them at the helm it sounds about right to me. The whole thing has been a joke from months back. Souness categorically knew during last season he was getting rid of Bellamy and Robert and basically luivert as well. So those people with a brain would think right, first signings through this door, the ones i'll conentrate my efforts on will be two strikers and an attacking left sided player. What does this prick do, chases two central midfielders until he gets them! So he has left us with a squad with no attack and width but plenty of midfield, then Shepherd takes over the role of ruining the club. And he decides that no matter how clear it is we need goals and creativity he is going to piss about arguing over fees and buy nobody! But the fact remains, they knew back last season who was going and they went after players in other positions first, its piss poor management on every level.

Souness insists players still back him

16336 How very dare you, I was asking a genuine question, did they??? -
Come on now, we are the second biggest club in the world and everybody wants to manage and play for us, in fact you wouldn't believe who is desperate to come here!!! The worrying thing is if Shepherd believes all this kind of crap he comes out with then we are run by a dillusional lunatic who leaves us a mess regularly because he thinks these things will happen. And if he doesn't really believe any of this then we are run by a bullshitter who is massively lazy and incompitent because he knows fine well these things won't happen and so should be working to sort them out!

I've long felt we would be bringing in 1 further player maximum and that there was also a good chance of no players. This is the price you pay when the manager leaves the squad with hardly any strikers, then devotes his time and energy to strengthening central midfield before moving his attention belatedly to attack. We're all happy with Emre and Parker, but they were not the number one priority, and what makes it worse is he fucking well knew back into last season he was dumping Bellamy and Robert and pretty much also Kluivert so how the hell did we ever get to the stage of havign no strikers!!!!

Did they back him at Ladbroke's to be the first manager to egt the chop? -
I know what you're sayign about Robert but the other stat about Robert is him pretty much always outscoring and getting more assists than all our other midfielders even in his bad spells and that wins matches. And as for Blackburn and Portsmouth, their results are the product of 11 men and subs, plus the manager and opposition, just as ours are. And its my belief that we have a better keeper, defence and parts of midfield than those two teams, but lack the likes of Robert/Bellamy/Kluivert who would provide us with creativity and goals to go with what attributes we do have. Putting aside your problems with Robert, Bellamy and Kluivert(?) for a moment and having already said in another thread how you aren't one of these people who ever wants us to lose can you honestly tell me you wouldn't have been happier to play that West Ham game with even two of those players in the line up, there can be no doubt at all we'd be more likely to win it.
-
Ah but you're merely using facts and results to back your argument, what good is that!!! Expect it to be ripped to bits by people still unwilling to accept Souness is shite, as mindless stats and not taking into account the "50 goals a season Robert costs us" (despite wingers being responsible for next to no goals at all) and several mentions of Kluivert being a fat, lazy mercenary!

If we went up we just wouldn't have ended up with Keegan and everything that happened. I know what you're saying, but without that game things would be alot dfferent! 16128 OK PL, I get where you're coming from with that but then we could say that about many games.... What if we'd won at Anfield and Ewood Park in 1996? What if we'd beaten Partizan Belgrade in the CL qualifier?? I think the present outcome would have been very different had we done so! 16129 I spend most of my days desperately trying not to think what would have happened if we'd won at Ewood or Anfield as we would have had the title and probably went on to win many more trophies. In fact if we'd had one, just one tiny bit of luck in the home game wehn we battered manu the title was ours, but NUFC and good luck are not meant to be in the same sentence when it matters!

Too late, reading between the lines you obviously have an Alan Partridge fantasy!

People need to seperate two different things. In terms of actually being at the individual match in question you can't want us to lose it just goes against everything about you. But, if people are putting forward an argument thus: Would you accept two defeats (or whatever it is required) if it meant Souness out, rather than have him scarpe by and slowly but surely (with Freds help) strangle the life out of the club we all love. Its always hypothetical and so people should feel free to take whichever option they prefer! But the mackem games are prime examples where we were saved/turned around. Playoffs, instead of going up and being like the mackems yo-yoing back and forth we get Sir John, KK and become what we did. The mackems again with Gullit, he's out, Bobby's in, prevents relegation and turns us into CL team.

Can't agree on this one Papa, we just will not score. A 35 year old with no pace left in him or even any real interest and a big gangling tossa up front masquerading as a footballer, do not fill me with confidence. I cant see us getting one especially if we can't crack a team down to 10 men in the last 35 minutes. I want us to win, I would love us to keep on getting the results even with SOURNESS as our manager, I'd love nothing better than for him to prove me wrong, but right now I'm dreaming, the reality is what happened on Saturday and who knows what we gonna have? I guess we just might end up battered 16111 We always play better against the big 3 as if the players and manager temporarilly wake up and we do often score past manu only for it all to go so wrong after that, so i expect us to get one despite the toal lack of creativity we have shown so far!

Tears his hamstring and is ruled out for two months 16060 I didn't want to say that but it is indeed what will happen, and it will be 5 minutes after Dyer has collpased and been carried off, whilst in training Emre's hamstring injury will have returned to being a 6 week lay off!

If we'd played West Ham with any two of Robert, Bellamy and Kluivert we would have won, plain and simple and i don't give a flying fuck if anyone says i can't know that! They were a first division team with 11 and then 10 men had a defence that seemed to be lacking in conentration at times and were there for the taking if we had any players capable of scoring or creating a goal. People (predictably) are saying Robert "only" scored past the might of West Brom, well they are if anything a year ahead of West Ham so he was doing allright compared with all of our hotshots against the Hammers. Face facts, he was far from perfect and as people love to mention the top teams didn't want him, but when you have a team managed by a tactical imbecile with little of no creativity and goals you are better off with Robert.
-
My prediction, we will score first, probably quite early and then either lose 2-1 or get battered about 4-1!

Its complete shite and yet for some reason has always considered itself above the other soaps, as if its a class apart and real serious top acted drama, when in fact it is comfortably the worst, most stupid and annoying of all soaps.

I agree Shearer may not want it, and i hope he has the sense to go nowhere near it, what i mean is whether he does it publically or behind close doors, fat boy will offer it to Shearer first, after all he's a geordie and what more does a manager need! 15645 Agreed, I hope he has the sense to say no, I'd much prefer he remained a Toon legend rather than a fall guy. 15647 Indeed. we are a mess right now and if Souness has finally been sacked we will be in an even bigger mess. If Big Al takes this on he will be in at the deep end and it could go so wrong. Also he is too close to things at the moment to be boss, he has people he gets on with, people he doesn't like, they all think of him as a teamate and suddenly he has to be boss, its not good. And you suspect he'd keep the same shite coaches here to start with and we want a boss to come in and clear them all out!

Correct, every time i go to St. james undetr this fuckwitt i find myself watching the same game over and over again. Against a recently first division side undeservedly down to ten me we could have played all day and wouldn't have scored, yet they looked as if they might. Souness is making us an embarassment and more than that is making me hate going to the match before, during and after. 15583 GROUNDHOG DAY. 15636 Correct, every time i go to St. james undetr this fuckwitt i find myself watching the same game over and over again. We all know that whenever Fat Fred decides its time to dump Souness he will offer the job to Shearer, whether it be as player manager or far enough down the line to just be manager.

Listening to SSN showing the booing at the end of our match...what fun!

I'll give you a summary then! People met up, got depressed at St. James and drank alcohol, with two alcoholics left at the end still drinking when the sensible people had left!!! 15608 I| take offence at being called sensible. The non-locals left earlier leaving just the locals to discuss the finer points of graffiti in the lasses bogs. 15615 We could start a forum about graffiti in lasses bogs, take our minds off NUFC!!! And apologies for calling anybody sensible
-
God knows, probably get a mixed reception as befits the split in fans when he was here. I did notice that for Portsmouth he scored a goal and set up an easy chance that was missed yesterday, if we'd had that against West Ham we could have snatched an undeserved win!

I know what you mean about Baba, i don't think he is lazy as such, but most games he does one (and occasionally more) lazy thing. Whether its a careless pass without thought, or underhitting something as if he wasn't bothered it does happen from time to time.
