1. Parker and Emre (if fit!) are great signings and i hope Luque is goign to be too, but Owen has to be top. even if we weren't struggling for goals the guy is oen of the best in the world, with us incapable of scoring these days he is far and away the most important signing the club has made in years.
2. hey i said we'd win the league, and i meant it 23507 Oh we will win it now of course, but if we say it on tv it just makes us look arrogant!
3. Thats very cynical of you...100% correct, but very cynical
4. I'm off tomorrow but won't be going down, never seen the attraction myself in seeing players in person/being at these things. Its an absolutely amazing digning but i'll wait till he's on the pitch to see him. In my absence though i expect them to interview a whole range of intelligent and eloquent footy fans, then dump that footage and just show the charvers and fuckwitts who will be saying things like: "Ah man, ah swear to god like, we'll purely win the league and everythin now like man" You know the sort of thing, rat faced tosspots making us look like pricks as usual!
5. I cant see Spurs letting Keane go now. It would leave them with only Defoe and Mido. 23482 Yeah i was worried about that as well. Its obviously good if we can ge a load of money for JJ before his value decreases, but its players we need to bolster our squad and that means an exchange would be great.
6. It makes it a hell of a lot easier to attract a manager when potential targets have seen us lash out about £25m on two players when we are 2nd from bottom! And when one of those players is one of europes top strikers bought from Madrid managers will be thinking i wouldn't mind a crack at that job after all!
7. In an ideal situation we will re-sign Nobby, trade JJ for Keane and some cash. More likely is that we'll just get cash for JJ or slightly less likely not sell due to the injuries we have, and that Villa will want too much for Nobby. But here's hoping!
8. I'm a sheep for listening to a mates recommendation or using Metacritic.com? If an album is universally liked, chances are, I'll like it too. Not always the case but if I didn't trust other peoples opinions I'd never buy any new music and would still be listening exclusively to Led Zepellin. I don't like The Killers, Maroon 5, Razorlight, 2pac, The Bravery, Oasis or the Who, but I accept that people with good musical taste like them and it's just my personal taste that precludes me from buying their albums. On the other hand, the only people I've met that like Babyshambles or James Blunt were arseholes. 22929 Yes, i put that a bit harshly to be fair! What i meant was this person had no opinion or knoweldge of music other than to copy whatever his mate liked. As you say obviously from time to time if a mate reccomends something and you trust their judgment you will hear some good stuff. But i assume like me if its shite you'll tell your mates it is and not like it because they do. Thats the sort of person i'm knocking, those with no originality or balls to say they like things others don't and hate things others do like if thats how they feel.
9. Totally agree, there are many artists and groups who have had sales boosted a bit or alot by being bought for the wrong reason. Whether its becasue people think its cool to like them or hard/rebellious to like them, or to annoy their parents etc. all stupid reasons for buying music. Sheep is the right word for it, i've known people who based half the records they bought on exactly what their mate(s) had just bought, or who just bought whatever album happened to be doing well at the time. And then like you say people buying music because of the attitude of the group, usually that attitude being "I act like a tosser".
10. There is no question Shola has been/will be better alongside Bellamy, Owen, Dyer and the like, he also as briefly alongside Kluivert. When Shola and Shearer play together its a disaster. However whilst its definite that Shola is better away from Shearer, whether he will be good enough is an entirely different question.
11. I don't know why Liverpool fans think we haven't worked out we weren't his first choice. We know we weren't and it makes complete sense that we weren't against his old club and CL winners! I couldn't give a shit how far down his list we were because he is a professional who once he's decided to play here will give everything and remind us that he is one of the worlds best finishers.
12. From the sublime to the ridiculous. 22721 which one is that Actually thought the thread would have developed with posters posting their favourite rock/pop albums that they could think of.... I've only got 3 of the original list ie numbers 2, 3 and 7. I have never got into Pink Floyd, I know they are a great band but just not my taste. 22808 Led Zep - Sublime, Scorpions - Ridiculous 22826 That was going to be my guess as to your two choices! Though to be fair i haven't heard the scorpions album so can hardly comment!
13. I have to be honest whilst him being a fraud and wannabe cockney really annoys me, its his mind numbing drone/piss poor rapping, tone deaf singing and shite music that really gets on my tits! I've actually noticed theres something about the cockney accent that really ruins rap and hip hop even if the person can actually rap. May sound like a generalisation but i prefer rappers with an american accent (or no noticable accent as such).
14. In the time Souness has been here he has had more than enough money from Shepherd, more than most managers could dream about so he has no excuse there, though to be fair to Souness he has said himself Fred has backed him.
15. Now that is "music" that every single person should be united in saying its absolute shite. Lyrics a child could write, can't rap at all, can't sing, uses an annoying cockney accent despite not being a cockney and yet has some critics wanking over him as if he's a combination of eminem and shakespeare!!! 22758 I think the fact he comes from Brum, yet comes over all 'apples and pears' is the most annoying thing about him. By no means the only annoying thing, obviously 22763 Yeah, if somebody happens to have an annoying cockney accent by birth thats not their fault, to choose to put one on because you think it makes you sound hard, trendy and will sell more records is embarassing.
16. Now that is "music" that every single person should be united in saying its absolute shite. 17. I thought it had taken a while for Owen and hamstring to be mentioned in this thread! It was one of my first thoughts after the initial excitment, he should bring his own doctor with him and not let out lot get near him!
18. Because Papa was saying that anything produced on a computer can't be as good as anything produced with a chunk of wood or metal that's strummed, blown or bashed. 22243 Well you've condensed it down, but yes, i tend not to like music produced on a computer more than that produced on a guitar. But as mentioned in the first post by sammynb, i'd seperated dance from other electronic music myself as some of those people mentioned do more than just use computers! And: I never said any of those bands are shit, New Order certainly aren't, they are however musicians who play instruments as well. The other three i wouldn't listen to as i don't like their music, but as of yet i haven't heard enough Kraftwerk or Massive attack to pass judgement and Bjork whilst i wouldn't listen to her music if i was paid, isn't what i'd call shite at all. We'll just have to disagreethat good dance is harder to create than good rock. Anyway as with all music arguments its all opinion on whether something is shite or not and i will quite happilly go on saying dance music is shite (and only to be tolertated when off your tits on drugs or alcohol) as it would be dull if we all agreed on the subject!
19. Oh i don't doubt old Anal will turn out to have been the crucial factor in Owen signing and that he's "known all along" that we'd get him!
20. I agree, he's obviously done everything he can to sway, lie to and threaten Owen until he agreed to sign! So well played Big Al.
21. So close, defintiely somebody wrong here! As with all music debtaes it ends quite rightly with everyone still loving what they love and hating what they hate as it ever shall be!
22. And to be taking football club issues to a cricket match, jesus wept!!!
23. Because people like it= a matter of taste. I am sane, sober (usually) and have a fairly sizeable pile of CDs (such as the aforementioned Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, Prodigy, Fatboy Slim's earlier albums, Air and a good few Ministry of Sound albums before they started filling them with every chart release they could find). I also have about 100-150 12" house released, some on the prog side of that genre, but mainly French and funk-inspired house. I'm also a fan of the soul styles and hammond-and-bass-driven funk that proved as an inspiration for the earliest forms of house and remained close every since. Now, you've met me enough to know I am not a pill-popping 'propa radgie'. So unless I am, your supposition must be incorrect. 22071 Thats what i actually mean, you're not the first intelligent, sane, sober person who i've met that listens to this stuff. I don't mean there isn't any sane people listening to it, the thing i don't get is why there is! Its like somebody intelligent who seems to have a good taste in/knowledge of various things turn and tell you they love waching Eastenders or something, it just doesn't fit with the impression you had of them. Obviously its because of quite how much i despise this music that i am usually shocked that people like it when i think they wouldn't.
