Quoted for truth 26481 You make it sound like we don't want him to score ffs. 26537 Didn't you know, any criticism of Shearer at all means you want him and the club to fail!!! The very idea that you could be pointing out that he's no longer as good as he was and not scoring as many goals but still want him to score shitloads doesn't enter these peoples heads.

Has to be 4-4-2 usin Luque and Solano as the widemen and Shearer/Owen up front. Ut will get the best out of Al and Owen and the rest of themn basically and they will know exactly what they are doing. Dyer when finally fit can chalenge for the RW and striker positions, i imagine Zog will have to cover the left, with enough options to choose for central midfield.
-
Yes, doesn't stop the media continually jizzing over it as if its one of the greatest cities in exisitence though!
-
I wish we would go for Bernard, free and would accept alot less than he wanted before in wages! Everton did have the advantage of having a talented, intelligent manager with a firm grasp on formations and tactics and getting the very best out of his palyers as well as superior coaching to ours. Because clearly their squad was worse than ours, and thats before Owen and Luque arrived! We're heading to the stage where we can put out a very good first team when everyone is fit, i want us to have a great squad as well.
-
If we're aiming for top 4 (not this year but in general!) then it wouldn't just be LB. There would need to be one more CB, a RB, another LW if Zog is better in the centre and another striker easilly, with a further striker for when Shearer goes.
-
I don't mean world or even international class for every one of the 22 players required, that would be stupid away from Chelsea! But its not too much to have 2 players competeing for every position, where your reserve is of a higher standard than say Elliot at LB.
-
Thats certainly not bad from our point of view.
-
He'll get booed by enough to be heard i'm sure of that. Because firstly there are plenty of toon fans who really don't like him (as we know from message boards!) and secondly because of the "Goldfish bowl" wanting to go to Spurs thing.
-
You have to give the bloke credit, he's done a cracking job of identifying targets for us and then providing them with a view of what turning us down would mean
-
I am 99% sure a decision will be made in the next few hours! 25307 They're not exactly laying it on the line are they! Might as well have said, "We can exclusively reveal that Solan either will...or won't be signing for NUFC tonight"
-
I wanted us to get Nobby for cash and keep Millner here as people forget how much we lack in cover as a squad. But i can see Villa's point of view as they have little or no time to find a replacement for Nobby so they need to get a player in. Should this happen, I'd hope we would try and get them to agree to having Millner until January then they can buy a player of their own and we can have Millner back, but i doubt we will. 25287 Aye you're right about the cover, and that sounds fair enough. As things stand though, given the chance between Milner and Solano, I'd take Solano and then welcome Milner back at the end of the season with a lot more Prem experience under his belt, and hopefully the better player for it. 25303 If its the only option then i agree, take Solano and hope Millner gets a good years experience under his belt and comes back to us ready to challenge Nobby the yera after.
-
If we turned down any deal involving Keane its incredibly stupid and i would not want to hear that was true. I just imagine Spurs wouldn't offer him as they would then be short of strikers.

There is too much of that goes on at this club. He's a young right footed centreback who hasn't got prem experience in his own position, never mind asking him to play LB. There should be two players for evey position as Mourinho always says, and they should both be of a quality and level that they can step straight into the team and perform to a good premiership standard.
-
Started really well, looked to have bags of potential then struggle for 2 years and was probably goign to again this season I think you'll see an upturn in his performances at Spurs just because of the new club factor and he will be playing in a team thats currently playing better football than us, though hopefully we can change that a bit. But god knows where he'll end up, the player everyone thought he was going to be, the player we saw for the ast 2 years or somewhere in between?
-
He was great in Grange Hill! Also i remember reading for the voiceover on Little Britain Walliams and Lucas wanted either Tom Baker, some other actor i can't remember or Michael Sheard.
-
Agree with that. Any anti Souness or Freddie chants their would make us look like complete cocks and make Owen think what the hell is he joining! And agree again as most managers in the world can say i want Owen he's good and if they're lucky the chairman and club are able to get them. The top managers will unearth great players from nowhere or vastly improve players the already have. Not to say Souness hasn't played any part, i don't know what he said and did to help convince Owen and if he did anything then good on him he deserves credit if he did. But ultimately signing Owen is somethign any manager would be doing if they had the resources.
-
He has edited his post though. 24716 In that case, the man is a liar, a charlitan and a fraud of the lowest order!!!
-
Oh that will be the transfer of the season since its loveable old Spurs who are from good old london town and far bigger and better than NUFC could ever hope to be.
-
To be fair to him he said: Solano - yes that would be great So it was obvious we don't have him but he'd like us to.
-
And as Isegrim has already pointed out to you did you see who he beat to win that cup, compared to Bobby getting us into the CL and doign well there. If you can do what Keegan did with NUFC and have them playing football the likes of which we won't see again and come that close to being a title winnign team, you can get away with not beinng a tactical genius. Souness hasn't got thos other attributes Keegan had and so needs a solid, organised tactical gameplan and a plan B when change is needed. Do you even know what the word tactics means in football? Getting rid of players and signign new ones is nothing to do with tactics. And you're idea of a trouble maker is somebody elses idea of a player he couldn't handle. I'm devastated you can't be arsed to carry on with me And we don't disagree, i'm right and you're wrong thats all!
-
It was regarding other deals today. The 'funny' thing was hearing Souness and Shepherd talking between themselves after the press conference, not realising that the microphones were still on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Souness: 'it was all so negative.' Referring to the previous questions. 24659 So it wasn't just me that heard them talking as if they'd forgotten they had microphones on! I noticed Shepherd hiding them behind a piece of paper as they muttered away, and i'm sure one of them said something after the negative comment along the lines of "Just ignore them Michael!"
-
It involves the use of shit frighteningly! But its also a type of abysmal "music", you may remember a song by somebody called "The Scatman" years ago.
-
You said Souness had won a cup, i pointed out Bobby won things, neither did it at NUFC so i fail to see why you are mentioning what Souness won but not Bobby. Keegan didn't win a trophy, he did however tale ateam in complete ruin get them promoted and playing some of the bets football the game has ever witnessed and withing a couple of games and crap refreees of winning the title, somethign Souness will never achieve. I said only a child could fail to see that Souness is lacking tactically, if you can't see it i assume you are a child or a very underdevloped adult.

Not quite the £20m we were demanding a while back! I would have hoped we'd squeeze a bit more out fo them say more like £9m because of how highly he's rated by everyone in the game, but you'd take £7m for him.
