At the end of the day we are going to have to keep him i suspect whether he does well or badly for the rest of the season because of the situation with other strikers. Lovenkrands should be released at the end of the season, he's done a canny job for us IMO but is coming to the end of his time now. Ranger realistically needs a season out on loan to get a serious run of games, build some confidence and consistency and see what he can do. And obviously we sold Carroll! So we're left with Shola (a 3rd or 4th choice striker ideally) and Best with potentially the option of playing Ben Arfa up front in some form and Nolan filling in there now and then. So ideally we start nexts eason with two strikers better than Shola and Best signed, but whether we will or not is another matter.

As people have said the four W teams are in trouble and the most likely to go down. I'd like Wolves to go down as they're a dirty bunch of cloggers with Henry a complete disgrace, West Ham because they should have been down ages ago for the Tevez/Mascherano business and beyond that not bothered. Though it'd be funny if Villa stayed down there and went, sadly i think they'lll be comfortable enough, but you never know!

Only Cole and Evra who you could claim are better currently as they've show it at the very highest levels for a logn time now, but beyond that there is Jose and an in form Baines, with Jose better for me and as he's younger than the only two who are better than him he's going to be the best. Which means he would have very right at any point to want to leave while Ashley is in charge sadly.

FYP Fact remains in league or cup if you play any of the palyers that are in your registered club that should be fine and the end of the matter, or else what the hell is the point in registering these players as your first team squad. But there isn't a chance in hell the fa would go after their beloved manu and fergie, far easier to take it our on Holloway and McCarthy.

Barca once again showing the difference between the team that likes to flatter themselves they play the best football in the game and the team that actually does by a long distance! They do need to score soon though, completely dominating but not taken chances so far.

Aye, think they mentioned him, saying even Cliff has been at it!

I'd chuck Ferguson on for Jonas as he is having one of those days where he has no idea what he's doing and could cost us as he keeps losing possession, they nearly scored on the break from him losing it earlier. Don Goodman absolutely loves Enrique and rightly so, and fair play to him, he was raving about him all through the championship season when others weren't convinced.
-
Solid and working hard but going forward, Best not really in it, Ranger on a different wavelength and Jonas shite! Nolan has done canny and Barton needs to get the ball more if we are going to get anything going, and Williamson can only get away with wrestling people in the box so many times!

The rich use the upkeep as tax breaks. It's not short sighted at all it't part of the plan to de-link common people from their age old birthrights and assets. Part of the global warming scam will be used to pass more regulation in the name of protecting the enviroment and so on...But in actuality it is a trasferance of power of ownership and use. People will be encouraged away from the countryside and into the cities further. Note Obama passing the anti-rainwater storing or harvesting laws in the states. That's an interesting take on it and one I hadn't thought of, I must admit. Read an article about it last week saying that typically of the tories its a chance for rich people to use it as tax breaks and that the relatively minor ammount of money the sales will make will be at least equalled by future tax losses, but then their rich mates will have benefitted and the poorer public at large will have been shafted again, so tories are happy.

Be lucky if it stays that way, absolutely cracking game!

I'd love it if he flopped and the scousers had pissed away £35m but i think he's going to do the business for them. Like one of the guys on ssn said, everytime something is thrown at him he steps it up, whether it be first run as a regular in championship, stepping up to prem level, then being hyped up so defenders are ready for him he still destroys them and finally England debut and he's the best England player on the pitch that night. I do however suspect he may have injury problems on and off over the years, but in terms of playing, he'll do well and is there likely to be anyone better than him in the air in football as he reaches his peak?

About right for this club under ashley

Liverpool bid £35 million+ for Carroll

This. We all know footballers are stupid but they're not retarded, everyone involved in this deal has known what they were doing and made their own choices with the options that came to them. We know the club is run by two lying little pricks, so you can guarentee they've been full of shit during this and i fully expect they've lied to the fans again in some of what's gone on today. But Carroll is going to have to come out with something spectacular he can easilly back up to show he didn't want to go and put in the request whatever the two cockends have said/done to try and shift him. -

He's not though really, is he, fucking madness all round His PL record suggests he is tbf. Scores 1 in 2 pretty much without fail even in mediocre teams he's as much worth it as you can be, and i've always thought he was underrated considering his record. Not a great all round player but who cares when you bang them in like that. -
Certainly as a player without even a full season under his belt in the prem he isnt worth anywhere near that, what he ends up as who knows, but since he wanted to fuck off anyway its good business, though sadly won't be re-invested as it should. Also i do suspect (and hope) theres a chance he may have trouble on and off with these thigh injuries and more, he's had the odd different thing in his time here and with his size it can put a bit of stress on your body.

Totally agree. Impossible to knock back £37m for him. It's 2/5ths of our turnover. We won't go down. You're deluded if you think we're safe. £35m+ is all well and good but ultimately worthless if we lose that sort of money by dropping down a league again. We won't go down, we've played some canny games without Carroll, the West Ham 5-0 for one. Totally agree we won't go down *deluded mag* because there are some shocking teams in this league and we have shown more than enough to be fine. Also without Carroll we beat wigan, west ham and were seconds from beating spurs and the mackems. Doesn't mean i wanted to remain without him or that i think any of the other strikers are good enough but i'm not worried short term for this season. What happens long term though, fuck knows! -
Very said indeed, especially for those of us who remember the first time round when we always sold our best players and had to accept we were never going to challenge them and be where we should be with the crowds and resources we have. But we'd all probably have accepted it if previously ashley had shown ambition and he used this to really build a squad, because every player has a price and i'm with you that £35m for Carroll is insane, but as the likelyhood of it all going on players is so low it just depresses you.
-
That would have been the way to go, you want Torress so we'll have sturridge on loan and then we release carroll, because i doubt they'd sell sturride at the moment.

I'd love that to be true, but sadly i've rated him for a long time, though didn't see this meteoric a rise, and i think he will go on to do the business for years to come, hope not though! -

Indeed, very few players left now who aren't arseholes. Only differences here sadly is that whilst we got a alot more money than you did for Bent, you'll end up spending more and better than us most likely. -

Knowing the cunts we have in charge i dont doubt for a minute that your scenario could easilly have happened, but at the end of the day, carroll decides to stay or go, nobody else and he made it clear where he stands, after all his shit about staying here to be the next shearer. And to be fair i think he has know for a while now that plenty of clubs would be after him, its been all over the press, on football programmes etc continually about people saying the "big 4" and others should/will sign him. -

I reckon Carroll assumed he wouldn't need to put a request in...hence it coming so late in the day after 2 rejections. He started to panic that his dream contract was disappearing. That's what i'm wondering about and if so its very said indeed that he's done that. If he comes out an denies the request and can show the club were lying then fine, otherwise as it stands, they rejected bids to keep him and he fucked us off to go there. No way on earth this would have gone through today if two or more parties hadn't agreed earlier in the window. IMO. Indeed, you have to think the scousers were pretty confident carroll was coming, and would make sure of it if the club unusually for them held out on a sale! -

Course he wanted to leave. An extra £4 million a year....£20m over the length of his contract or something. Ridiculous to think he'd not be keen. And just as importantly, why are people so intent that carroll would want to help ashley!!! The only answer would be money, making him a greedy bastards as i said earlier.
