  1. $16m paid in July would probably have meant that we were pretty much safe from relegation by Christmas, I reckon. That may have made it easier to sell the club, then. Of course, it could have meant no Almiron either
  2. Does the ref ask the VAR or is it the other way round, i.e. shouldn't you have another look at this? I think the VAR instigates the review, rather than, as in rugby, the ref asking the VAR to check.
  3. Conspiracy theorist David Icke banned from entering Australia ahead of speaking tour Thought this idiot was dead. Doesn't seem to be wearing purple anymore, though.
  4. Don't think PR is ever the answer, unless there has to be a minimum amount votes before you get a place in Parliament. PR unfortunately just allows more bigots and loonies to get a hand in government, and mainstream parties have to pander to them to stay in power (which is, of course, the only real game in town for most (all?) politicians). As a result, the left goes further left, and the right goes further right. It is certainly the case in Australia and Israel (looking from outside) and probably in many other PR jurisdictions, so be careful what you wish for. We need something better, but as long as it involves political turkeys having to vote for Christmas, I doubt you will get it anytime soon.
  5. I agree, but if you are going to make use of technology, and keep the game moving, it may lead to less delay, which I thought was the original issue. Similar use to cricket and rugby (although I concede they don't seem to save time).
  6. It would be much quicker if the VAR referee just made the decision, not get the on-field referee to walk over to a monitor and then do exactly what the VAR referee has been doing, i.e. checking several times and making a decision.
  7. If he had done it before 90 minutes, would that have meant 5 minutes of extra time, rather than 4?
  8. I had been laughing at the Aussies, after the India series and some spectacular top order collapses against Sri Lanka, but I have retreated into my shell after the last two tests in the WI. Even when the other team is showing England what they need to do on the pitch, they will not do it, and say they want to play aggressive cricket. Sometimes you just need to hang around first, to allow yourself to play aggressive cricket later. They all seem to want to score a century at a run a ball, and all they end up doing is scoring a few at a run a ball. Muppets
  9. I'm glad I don't have to make that choice!
  10. So he has just done what he has because he wants to win a GE, despite the consequences for the Country?
  11. Can't tell them how much money I have taken out when the season tickets are due, and Rafa is moaning about signings.
  12. I did ages ago, but people keep quoting him
  13. Sure Ashley sees a deal in the offing there
  14. If only. Perhaps he make take the rest with him. #darwinawards
  15. Correct. Very well paid MP's unwilling to do the job they are paid for. Referenda are for weak politicians unwilling to make decisions, in case they lose their job.
  16. She should have seen the writing on the wall then
  17. Indeed. If it is one of THOSE clubs, it is the professional thing to do - feel the contact and go to ground. If it is us - he should have been stronger and went to ground too easily.
  18. Good point. I was wondering whether we could do a NFL specialist team thing for when we have a corner, bring him on to score and then take him off when it comes to defending, but your option isn't a bad one (well of course it is, but in the current circumstances ...)
