The period pre world cup was beyond anything we probably expected which has got some ahead of themselves. Yes it may well be our best chance for a while but I don't want us then to fail immediately.

Agree but annoying to see us lose the cup one day and then lose the test unnecessarily the next. 🙁 They could have done some Bazball and then taken 10 wickets, which was much more likely.

Well England managed to lose what should have been unlosable. By one run, but it is still a loss. Very poor shot selection by Root, Stokes, Foakes, and Anderson. I know that it is a willingness to try to win, but it really wasn't necessary. To lose them all to exactly the same shot was poor. I think that the decision to enforce the follow on backfired horribly. Again, I understand the winning mentality and not to be afraid to lose, but given Stokes was unable to bowl and Anderson and Broad have a combined aged of 76, I thought it was the wrong decision at the time and winning would not have changed my view. Anyway, well done NZ for never giving up, right to the last ball. Phenomenal effort. Bring on the Ashes.

I thought it was a yellow. Maxi was away and it was cynical and unnecessary. Unfortunately, they had the sense to replace him with someone who could tackle.

I think we were probably 3 players short yesterday, all of whom would cost 40-50m. Not sure gambling in January would have solved that issue.

Looked as though Ritchie was given a swansong and Anderson a look at the big time, with those final substitutions.

We could really do with someone with a decent left foot to change our set piece delivery, as well. Luke Shaw's free kick was just demanding someone to put it in. Of course, our lot would have scuffed the header, but with Trippier taking all kicks, it must be simpler to defend.
