  1. Its more the cameraderie that you miss, rather than seeing the match on the pitch. You can watch football in a pub with any Sky or foreign channel but nothing replaces away days
  2. I would put my neck out and say that Bruce has raised his stock by leaving Brum, going to Wigan and showing that he can bring stability to another club. Wigan could have gone down once Jewell jumped ship but they seem to have made some shrewd buys.
  3. Ive read a large part of this thread and it seems that there are 2 schools of thought on this piece - one of sympathy and the other of anger I think MA has tried to appease fans by churning out a PR exercise in which he attempts to weight emotion on the fans, from the angle of supporting the club, but also trying to relate to those for who Newcastle United is a family thing, something which Dads instill into their kids from a young age, take them to the match and the club grows with them. Taking this piece in context, look at the statements which have been released by MA since the farce began. Like others have pointed out, he changes his tack within the statement written today, not least the statements in which he has previously made. By identifying the areas in which he believes the fans are angry, he shows he is totally out of touch with the supporters. We have never demanded big name signings, overspend and risk. We have demanded that the club be put on a secure footing, playing attractive football and showing promise. We wanted a squad with players who could compete and perform for European places, a squad big enough to handle the test of a season of football. When we had players sold at the value of £12m, we expected that to go straight back into the transfer pot and to be spent before the deadline closed, replacing the personnel we had moved on. Ultimately we wanted to have faith in football and in the club. It was being restored. Now that faith has been destroyed. Too little too late.

    Gazza

Unfortunately I fear that we'll never see the well side of Gazza again. He's racing against Winehouse for this one.
  5. After Ince has responded to it but hasnt ruled himself out, this worries me. If he becomes Manager, ill refuse to have anything to do with the club until he leaves.
  6. Stevie, what do you think to all this foreign manager stuff? Would you rather put your trust in an untested foreign manager or an untested English manager. What makes Deschamps record any better than someone like Strachan or Moyes? Strachan won the league in the two horse race up there and had fair success in England. Deschamps won French title and then wasnt much good after that?? I just cant see the logic in giving someone an opportunity from overseas when theres British managers with similar records doing the same job.
  7. Id be saddened if any of our Muppets decided to have a go at your lot in frustration. Its great to see Hull in the Premiership, a club totally new to it all, chance for the fans to visit the grounds etc. Stuff of dreams for City fans I would imagine
  8. No price on Phil Brown? Would have thought being a geordie someone would have got odds on him. Anyone English just got their coaching badge and fancy a job? Zola's got no experience yet the 'ammers are taking a risk on him. Wonder how many British lads they would have gambled on like that.
  9. Happy in his house in the middle of nowhere
  10. Anyone find it sad that there are no British managers in the running for the job bar Keegan? (Which will never happen)
  11. Met him once, total arsehole and no doubt gives that impression to others he meets, hence why I wasnt surprised to hear that his start at Blackburn hadnt been plain sailing.
  12. There must be a load of characters in the game (they cant all be that boring) but none of them choose to show it. Ian Holloway or Strachan are usually good value for entertainment
  13. If you listen to most players they start replies with "yeah you know". Rooney has a problem with "erm"
  14. Why is it that post match interviews always seem to be soundbite scripted pieces from the players? Everytime I watch a post match interview, they all reel out the same shite, same sentences which suggests to me that they get media coaching and none of them are prepared to have a crack with the pundit, or even say anything other than the usual dialogue. Anyone else like to see some players having a laugh post match and just being themselves rather than clones of each other?
  15. Worst thing Walcott could have done is score a hat-trick. Expect mountains of pressure from the media from now on a la Rooney 2004/Owen 1998
  16. clear "pelanty" there.. someone get Waddle English lessons
  17. Ouch. Yeah that looked a pretty decent return for those results til I looked at the top one..
  18. Thats an old hairdo - however I have seen a pic of him lately and he is about 3 stone overweight. Looks way past it now.
  19. I just wish a few more people could hold out until Ashely is ousted, it wouldn't take long if he though match attendances were going to dwindle. If Match attendances were down, without European games, there would be no boost for finances. Unfortunately its gonna have to get worse for it to get better but I cant see people turning away long enough for him to realise that problem.
  20. AP, I cant fail to agree with you there. Ill never step foot in another club shop until FM does one. I know for those who have shelled out for ST will be reluctant to give them up, but that is what puts money in pockets. People cant fail to go to the match without getting the full Match experience in buying programmes, food, drink and merchandise. I do feel for the players as it is their careers which are being messed about and I wouldnt begrudge anyone wanting to get out of this shambles. Money aside, some genuinely do want success in their careers, just like everyone else.
  21. Didnt Souness win the league in Turkey?
  22. +1 They need to have some kind of specific protest. Theyve already said that they wont boycott the game so sounds like they wont delay entry. They need some kind of visual boycott, whether that be cards to hold up, backs turned against the playing surface, banners or pre or post match demonstration. Cant help but think that the timing of his departure and the timing of international football is playing into Ashleys hands here.
  23. Really? Even Aldershot Town are worthy of laughing at you. Get back to lesson before your teacher comes looking for you
