  1. Was wondering Howe long that would take. Now let's get some points.
  2. If Ashley had been here I'd have said let's go down but given that we are now looking up in the short/medium term then I'd rather we pulled it round and got ourselves out of the bottom 3. Other teams look like they're on a bad run but we look like we lack the quality altogether. Probably worth a punt on us either way.
  3. Are we certain Howe isn't just a Mackem who is playing the club like a cat with a ball of string, until we are so far adrift of everyone else that we are relegated? It seems odd that he was sitting with Staveley in the most public of fashion yet still not announced as manager.
  4. We've played 11, and of the 27 remaining, I think there's 11 where we get nothing. 16 games with some points in them. We are going to have to battle to get through this season.
  5. What I can't understand is how players who have previously been half decent, are all of a sudden not even capable of stringing a few passes, chasing down and winning loose balls and thinking for themselves when forming some kind of movement to get up the pitch.
  6. Absolute dogshit we are serving up here. Jones is doing his best to out-Bruce Bruce.
  7. Caulkin and others dropped the ball and they're now trying to put the wheel back on so that they don't lose that line of contact as a result. It does sound like Howe is about to be appointed given that Caulkin has said it's been whittled down to 2, suggesting the others didn't make the final cut. We might be all here in 6 months time eulogising about Howe's ability to turn things around. To say at this stage that he should only be a short term appointment makes us sound entitled and like the typical Talksport wankers from the top 6. As it's been mentioned further up this thread, until we start seeing progress and some money going into projects like the training ground, stadium and signings then we really don't know what being the richest club in the world actually means. If Howe gets the team firing and we like the football then he sounds like what we all asked for years ago when we wanted entertainment and application. The ex Bournemouth lads have probably had their day on their former manager so they have first hand accounts of how he works.
  8. We've been travelling mostly backwards for the last 14 years so any bit of going forward is going to feel odd.
  9. Whatever happens, I've never had so many posts to catch up on between shite match thread titles. You'd barely be able to find three posts midweek never mind three of four pages in one thread. We have truly hit the big time boys! (Aside from the fact we still look a shower to everyone else)
  10. In the article I posted it does say that he wants a club that protects the manager which he didn't get at Arsenal. Maybe by not having any structure to the club at the moment concerns him as he's going to have to fight a relegation battle while they work around the rest of it.
  11. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/football/2020/may/15/unai-emery-arsenal-couldnt-protect-me-truth-is-i-felt-alone If it is to be Emery, this is a decent article which probably gives us an insight into how things panned out at Arsenal and what he looks for in a club. We sound like a decent fit.
  12. The owners should have had a DOF in waiting as soon as they came in.
  13. He was very good for a period, but like most has regressed. Hayden was also a rock in that system but he's more like a stone in the field at the moment.
  14. It's so he didn't have to watch the shite the rest of us had to put up with.
  15. We may be the richest club on paper but we are miles away from being where we need to be for someone top level to consider us. Weird that this has all happened at a time where there isn't an obvious stand out candidate that the board and fans would unite with. Probably why it's taking them longer to make a decision on what to do.
  16. I'd rather have Potter than Martinez.
  17. He has been shite, but I'll forgive him for all the hope he gave us during bruceball.
  18. Absolute sour grapes going on here. Ok while they're feeding from the trough but as soon as we push in, it's suddenly a question of what's good for competition. Laughable.
  19. There should be one on each side of the ground given the number of people and the potential for it. No excuse really.
  20. Willock dug us out for those last 8 games, but at times we've seen a glimpse of some cohesion. Lascelles was and should be better, Longstaff was and should be better. With Wilson, Willock and the Saint, we should have more than enough to get goals, and we saw under Rafa that these defenders were organised at one point. Hayden also used to have a big part in that in midfield. Like everything else at the club, its been left to decay over time and the players have just shown that. The way they performed today suggests that they know that they have a hand in what happens next with the management.
  21. Dreadful. I know Wilson is short of match fitness but taking him and Willock off and leaving Joelinton on the pitch was almost Bruce acknowledging that his time is up. I simply can't believe that anyone in their right mind thought he was worth £40000 never mind £4 Million. He's absolutely out of his depth as a footballer and should not be in this side. I'd play Murphy or Fraser over him all day. Whilst Im not a fan of the name calling for Bruce, he should have gone games ago. He knows he can't turn our fortunes around, 36% possession at home with one shot on target is nothing short of disgraceful. Given that we should have had a bounce from this, the players are disorganised and disinterested. At the start of the season I thought some of the results were a bit harsh on a couple of performances, but they've just got worse as the weeks have wore on.
  22. Should have been given a yellow for his theatricals. It's a joke and all it did was hold up our attack.
