Willock has been absolutely useless this year. He's lucky to have kept his squad position, he's been that poor. Needs to start showing the form he did last year. Less negativity and moving the ball up the pitch. We've all seen he's capable of it. -

ByLingard must be gutted but it's a sign of the times that Man Utd won't let a player go who hasn't played because they have no strength in depth. I hope they finish lower than 4th. -

Merson hasn't got a clue what he's talking about, his mouth is moving before his brain is telling it what to say. Can't believe he still gets a gig on SSN, I think Gemmill probably has more international player knowledge than he does. -

Lingard I think would prefer it. Whether Man Utd want to hand 4th place to WHU is another matter. -

Sky pumping gambling ads every break yet they've got someone who is a victim of it as one of their main characters. Ironic. -

I'd love to get Botman here, he is someone who we could build around whereas Carlos is older and shorter term. Ekitike must be one for the future, any transfer of a youth is a risk, so you've got to hope for an element of luck when you pick them up. Lingard would be the cherry on top for the rest of this season, hopefully Man Utd will give it up this afternoon. -

Get in, really looking forward to seeing him in action. Still hopeful of seeing Lingard here tomorrow and hopefully another striker. I dont think we need to push the LB position given those kind of Targetts. I'd rather we go with Lewis, Manquillo or Dummett. -

I just can't see how these big names are going to come without a release clause. None will want to get the shit kicked out of them at the likes of Luton or Blackpool next season. -
I really liked Rafa when he was here but i don't think it would be right for him to come back now. He was the right guy at the right time, but the football was pretty negative although he did have little to work with. Howe needs to be given time with some investment.

It's all about the players...... Just not most of the ones we have.

Van Der Beek and Lingard, even if it's just on loan. Would make a huge difference. -
SEASON-DEFINING MUST-WIN 6-POINTER (nufc v watford match thread)
Chaser replied to Dr Gloom's topic in Newcastle Forum
Quite possibly but there are a few - Longstaff Willock and Lascelles who have performed far better than they currently are. If EH is the man manager that others say he is, he should be squeezing far more from them than what they're currently putting out. -

I wanted us to go down at the beginning of the season but since the takeover I'd rather us stay up, invest heavily and push next year for top half. There's absolutely no benefit in us going down hence the desire to remain in the Premier League. I just fail to understand why these lads aren't digging in and showing their full ability. Either they think they are capable of challenging for those places or they put themselves in the window for other clubs. They should be running through walls to prove the media and doubters wrong. -

Lascelles has played his way out of the captaincy for me. Howe needs to take responsibility for that defeat, drop him and bring in some quality at CB. What is up with Fede? Even Fede with long covid has to be better than Nottingham's poorest export, he's always putting undue pressure on the rest of them. I'd even put Hayden on instead of Longstaff and push Joelinton a bit higher. Joelinton is good at disrupting play but we don't have anyone controlling it. To be fair to him he's been a revelation the last few games and is one of the few who can hold his head high in all of this but the rest are not up for the fight. Longstaff should be particularly ashamed given he's a local lad. Unfortunately we are bereft of enough talent or application in this squad and after that, I'm joining the bedwetters. The fact that Norwich leap frogged us only worsens our plight with Burnley left with games to play. We simply don't have the quality to defend a slender lead for the whole game. Howe needs to line us up for the championship next year unless he performs a miracle. -
I can't say I was excited about Wood signing, but then he's gone about his work in the background, in a team which undoubtedly creates less chances than the players who have scored 10 goals a season in the last 4 seasons. We have been creating chances but struggled to put them away so he will hopefully get in the right positions to score us some goals. I don't really care it we take to playing long ball this season, as long as we get more points on the board than 3 other teams.

So Vlahovic and Botman pre Cambridge, Cantwell and Wood post Cambridge. Talk about making our expectations realistic again. At least it feels more like the club we all know. Hamza Choudhury in on loan next... -

He has the talent, he's already shown that but either he doesn't want to be here, or his contract has sucked his enthusiasm. I know he was playing injured but as far as I know he's over that and therefore should be fighting to start games. -

ASM is an enigma in the mould of Robert. Polarises opinion. I think Arsenal must have sold us Willocks twin brother. Can't quite believe how poor he's been since he signed. Needs to show some guts and start putting some effort in like he did last season. -
