He'll not get a prison sentence - likely just some kind of anger management order.

Think Gudjohnsen would be a good replacement for Dyer, he's quick, good in the air, can score a goal and can play in that support role behind a front 2 in a 4-3-3 formation which is what BS looks to be going for in the home games at least. Would be an excellent addition and if he's available, should be swiping him from under the nose of West Ham who will have a silly sized squad the way theyre buying players at the moment...
-
Are West Ham linked with every player this summer? Seriously, they have come from nowhere to becoming a team I really hate. Couldnt stand them last season and theyre just getting worse by buying everything in the transfer market. If only Sheff Utd had stayed up...

£5m for Dyer is good business for West Ham IMO, especially when you consider that Kieron Richardson is allegedly worth that and Rossi was sold for £6.7m. Im not so worried about getting rid of Dyer but more concerned with the lack of replacements for all these players leaving. Paper thin squad is now micron thin

£6.7m according to the Beeb.

No quotes, no sources and no detailed information. Pure speculative Journalism. Wont buy into it until the bandwagon starts rolling out of Tyneside

Newcastle’s £6m offer for Smith holds the key to Dyer departure
Chaser replied to Jimbo's topic in Newcastle Forum
I wouldnt have thought Gudjohnssen would cost much more than £6m and he's a better player IMO. Dyer has caused the fans to get on his back by engineering a move away from the club once his injuries look to be finally behind him. We've supported him for years paying god knows what to get the right treatment for him. Now that looks sorted, he's away back down south. Still dont condone the behaviour of those mindless individuals who think that "Support" means to go and attack his private life. Should be hunted down and locked up. -
Newcastle’s £6m offer for Smith holds the key to Dyer departure

2 totally different players providing different options. Ive never been a fan of Dyer the man, however as a player I like his pace and his ability to change the face of play with his pace. In the last year, he appears to be more relaxed in front of goal also. Alan Smith on the other hand - I'm a fan of the man (although I was disappointed when his showed his disloyalty by leaving his boyhood club to join their biggest rivals) however think that his game has suffered since he went to Old Trafford. For me, Smith is all about passion and the battle in the game, much like Barton however he doesnt score enough goals to be a centre forward and for me doesnt look good enough at Centre Mid. Has only once got into double figures (at Leeds) in the Prem which is a feat even Shola has surpassed. For me, if we're selling Dyer, we should be getting a player like Gamst Pedersen. It seems that just because we're running out of time, we now start to be hitting the button a bit and looking at transfers which we werent considering a month ago. -
Smith isnt a midfielder. If any, his better position is as a support striker. Might work well with Owen. Still not a priority though

Obviously realises hes in the last chance saloon here. Hopefully his actions will speak louder than his words and he'll actually be of use this season. Gets my support to see if he can make the most of that chance..

Is Bridge definitely off the radar?

Complicated finances leading to reduced transfer fund?
Chaser replied to JawD's topic in Newcastle Forum
The fact of the matter is that with our current squad we are not going to acheive a finish to get into Europe. To take this club onto the next level, that has to be the aim as better players come with European qualification. We need the players who will get us there, not world class but just decent players. -
BS has said he needs to really push himself through the pain barrier this season to be fit for the premier league, which leads me to summise that he was well off fitness in previous seasons.
-
Spurs must have one of the biggest squads in the league. Surely they'll struggle to keep all their stars happy.
-
We were lucky to get the transfers in that we have when we did. We've picked up a couple of good free signings and the transfer of Barton shows that the bad rep he has clearly determined his transfer fee. The problem now is picking up further players to add this much needed depth will cost a lot more purely due to the likes of these clubs who seem to be spending like its going out of fashion - West Ham, Spurs, United
-
I think SA is doing a fair job of playing down expectations ahead of next season. Like others have said, we were flying at the beginning of June, picking up a few cheapies which we hoped would combine with some big money buys which were going to materialise a little later but that hasnt happened. We've cleared out a lot of players and havent even replaced them despite having a paper thin squad last season. Unless we sign at least 4 players, I think we'll probably struggle in mid table again. The club should be doing enough to sign players which will get us that European spot, which will then take us on to the next level of signings who only want European football. With the state of the mid table prem, this shouldnt be too difficult but will be unless we add some depth to the squad.

Barton's broken toe and Dyer's wish to move leave Allardyce short
Chaser replied to Scottish Mag's topic in Newcastle Forum
It seems odd that Dyer would want to move now after getting fit and the change in the whole of NUFC at the moment. The words of BS suggest that maybe he & Dyer dont get on? If I was in Dyers position, I would have moved a couple of years ago rather than now. -
Ameobi's game looks clumsy but sometimes he just manages to keep the ball at his feet. He built his reputation early in his career and alongside a slow Shearer, it was a partnership destined to fail and it always filled me with dread when they were paired together. Now that Shearer is long gone, he has a new hip, I think this season, providing he doesnt get another injury is make or break for Shola. If he shines, then he will have answered his critics and his confidence will soar, however if he fails to take the bull by the horns then he might be shipped off somewhere else next summer. A crucial season for him.
-
£2m is a joke for a player who is still in the England reckoning. If Reo-Coker is worth £8m and Richardson £5m then Dyer is definitely worth more than that. I dont think Allardyce would get rid if he didnt have someone already in. Wouldnt give those cheating cockneys him for that price anyway.
-
Very early days yet, but no doubt BS has gained some info from that game, fitness if nothing else. Will be interesting to see how the players respond to the bigger friendlies.
-
But the worry is does Sam want these players or are the money men deciding who to buy? These kinds of players touted dont sound like players that Sam would go for. As for a warchest, it seems as if we still seem to be making some shrewd deals in the market.

S*nderland bid £5.5m for Kieran Richardson???
Chaser replied to ohhh_yeah's topic in Newcastle Forum
How to waste money by Roy Keane. A bestseller by next week methinks. The person sanctioning these deals must be just as mad! -
Was Chops born in Newcastle? Itll be interesting to see his celebrations if he scores for Sunderland. Hopefully, he'll have similar luck to Stead and Sunderlands premiership curse will long continue.
-
another case of if he's not happy get rid. Definitely not worth offering a payrise and the club should certainly not be held to ransom over him, not least without removing the release clause in his contract. Arsenal despite their young talents do look a bit like a sinking ship at the moment with a number of them looking for the door.
-
Of course they wouldnt be able to use skills like that on the pitch, well not a lot of them, but it does show incredible coordination and ball control. At the end the kid puts the ball in the back of the net from a corner!
