'Black Widow' Shearer answerable for Newcastle's demise
Chaser replied to Barney's topic in Newcastle Forum
A few people I know who have met him have said he was an absolute arsehole. These people werent affiliated with each other either and all of the encounters were on seperate occasions. Must have some truth in it. -
speaking of mongs, did everyone else just see SSN with all them kids outside?

i think the big thing about Keegan coming back is that there is an instant lift amongst the fans and around the club. This is definitely a heart decision rather than one made with the head but it would be great if he could turn our fortunes around and start putitng some performances back on the pitch. What is more important, is who he brings in to help him achieve this. Personally I would love to see Shearer alongside him with a couple of top coaches. Steve Round is highly regarded so would like to see him stay however, John Carver was also highly considered and is now out of a job. Surround himself with people who can help him and we could see some good stuff on the pitch. It may also mean that there is some continuity.

Just wondered if anyone has the win rate stats of the managers since Keegan left? I'd be intrigued to see who is where...

Fuck it, every other logical appointment has failed. Bring the Circus to SJP! The messiah returns!

Im just amazed at the popularity of Anal. How come every man and his dog has his phone number? Why dont they phone Shaun Custis or Steve Howard?

Ill be honest, that is a very similar opinion to mine, however I am still probably leaning towards the wet dream. Very close though

Would know the French youth system as well? Take Arsene on at his own game? -

This has a fresh approach feeling about it. I havent seen his football though, attacking??? -
With all this hysteria about KK i think i may find myself disappointed that he probably wont be here !!

Who do you think will be our next manager?
Chaser replied to Scottish Mag's topic in Newcastle Forum
Dont think itll be Jol with Kelmsleys influence, Hughes if offered I think would take it as its definitely a step up from Blackburn and he may think that he's taken them as far as he can (sounds very BSAesque). Keegan has been out of management for 3 years which is a long time out of a job. His current knowledge of the market I would imagine would be very rusty and would need to pull out those numbers again of his previous contacts. -
I can see the similarities in profile with Hughes/Allardyce but their style of play couldnt be more different. Blackburn have had to scrap out some games, but they have natural pace & width which is something we havent really seen since Souness dismantled Robsons team.
-
I would tend to agree that Redknapp has probably used the opportunity to seek a better deal with Portsmouth however, from the soundbites coming from the club, it does sound that all the eggs were in the one basket. The fact that Redknapp was approached only days after Allardyce getting the boot and the lack of any public knowledge of anyone interviewed since suggests to me that the club are backpedalling to make it look better for any further approaches. Id like to think someone was in place by the weekend. All this take our time nonsense is no good when you are 6 points above the drop zone and looking no more likely to score a goal.

I think Hughes would be a decent replacement and a test of his managerial qualities. He did well with what he had with Wales and has revived Blackburn from the Souness days. Back then, nobody would have seen Blackburn back in Europe but he's worked wonders to get them to the position that they are in at the moment.

Manc-mag, my sentiments too. was saying last night that his football was something I was brought up on, spoilt if we're honest and if he did come back and failed to be any kind of success this time around, it would be like finding out that Santa wasnt real- KK wasnt really the messiah. Saying that he is the only man (aside from Shearer) who would be sure of getting time and patience by the fans. Newcastle is KK's club and regardless of what happened at City & England, he'd be welcomed back with open arms even from those who dont want him, purely because of his reputation here.
-
Very good article, well written if not a bit childish in places, however the sentiment is definitely there. Souness has talked about some of things being down to Shepherd however fails to account for his other poor, rather suspect transfer dealings and was responsible for dismantling and undoing all the good work that was made by Robson. I am still one of those who is disappointed that it hasnt worked out for Allardyce as I thought that his attention to detail would have worked long term for the club, however, the alarm bells were ringing once he lost confidence in his players. At the same time, they had also lost all confidence in him and it was showing on the pitch. With him gone, it appears that the regime which is in place in management at the moment is no better and part of that problem.

No mention of Boumsong though, or Faye for that matter
-
Doomed to fail like Howard Wilkinson & Steve Cotterill.
-
I thought Enrique was very suspect to begin with but grew in confidence. Taylor MOM from our point of view. All the rest diabolical and by far the worst was Owen. (Even worse than Cacapa)

Priceless - southern journo admits to magic of Newcastle
Chaser replied to Big TRon's topic in Newcastle Forum
to be fair to Steve Howard, Ive noticed that he has long been an admirer, way back from the Keegan days. He's the one hack who would regularly give an early season prediction having us win something. -
If 'Arry comes to Noocasel, then frankly we may have just stuck with BSA and saved our money on the compo. Lets poach Eriksson from Citeh and he can bring Elano with him
-
what worries me is that it has again happened in a manner which still makes us look like a circus. BSA was giving a press conference only hours before being sacked - surely they knew before that conference that he was gonna get the boot? Why sign a couple of youngsters in the last few days? All very odd and I'm not too hopeful on who will replace him. Either way, I think there are still a lot of players who arent good enough to get us where we want to be.

Ian Holloway - guaranteed to get the fans behind him with his post match comments.
