I think Hughes would be a decent replacement and a test of his managerial qualities. He did well with what he had with Wales and has revived Blackburn from the Souness days. Back then, nobody would have seen Blackburn back in Europe but he's worked wonders to get them to the position that they are in at the moment.

Manc-mag, my sentiments too. was saying last night that his football was something I was brought up on, spoilt if we're honest and if he did come back and failed to be any kind of success this time around, it would be like finding out that Santa wasnt real- KK wasnt really the messiah. Saying that he is the only man (aside from Shearer) who would be sure of getting time and patience by the fans. Newcastle is KK's club and regardless of what happened at City & England, he'd be welcomed back with open arms even from those who dont want him, purely because of his reputation here.

Very good article, well written if not a bit childish in places, however the sentiment is definitely there. Souness has talked about some of things being down to Shepherd however fails to account for his other poor, rather suspect transfer dealings and was responsible for dismantling and undoing all the good work that was made by Robson. I am still one of those who is disappointed that it hasnt worked out for Allardyce as I thought that his attention to detail would have worked long term for the club, however, the alarm bells were ringing once he lost confidence in his players. At the same time, they had also lost all confidence in him and it was showing on the pitch. With him gone, it appears that the regime which is in place in management at the moment is no better and part of that problem.

No mention of Boumsong though, or Faye for that matter

Doomed to fail like Howard Wilkinson & Steve Cotterill.

I thought Enrique was very suspect to begin with but grew in confidence. Taylor MOM from our point of view. All the rest diabolical and by far the worst was Owen. (Even worse than Cacapa)

Priceless - southern journo admits to magic of Newcastle

to be fair to Steve Howard, Ive noticed that he has long been an admirer, way back from the Keegan days. He's the one hack who would regularly give an early season prediction having us win something. -
If 'Arry comes to Noocasel, then frankly we may have just stuck with BSA and saved our money on the compo. Lets poach Eriksson from Citeh and he can bring Elano with him
-
what worries me is that it has again happened in a manner which still makes us look like a circus. BSA was giving a press conference only hours before being sacked - surely they knew before that conference that he was gonna get the boot? Why sign a couple of youngsters in the last few days? All very odd and I'm not too hopeful on who will replace him. Either way, I think there are still a lot of players who arent good enough to get us where we want to be.

Ian Holloway - guaranteed to get the fans behind him with his post match comments.

I would have thought Barton would be heading for the sack now. I cant see Ashley & Mort wanting a player with such a reputation spoiling it for the rest of the club.
-
Beye looks decent, the rest look like they would have trouble in a Sunday league encounter. Outfought today and lucky to come away with a result.

If Owen does go in January, with Oba gone it'll leave us with just Smith, Vids & Shola as our strikers. Can Carroll be recalled? With that, there doesnt appear to be a lot of goals between those 3, certainly no pace. Who would you be looking to pick up as a replacement?

Bobby should never have been sacked, an agreement should have been made behind closed doors for him to help appoint his successor and for him to move upstairs in an ambassador/advisory role. The whole thing was a disgrace. Sure there were problems but we've had much bigger problems in comparison since. The blame must solely lie with the fat controller who made a mess of the whole situation. Its still rankles with me the way in which Bobby was axed and then someone who was not fit to clean his shoes taking over in his place. Sir Bob is exactly right about the place going to ratshit since he left and we have been trying to pick up the pieces ever since.

Get out of Toon: Newcastle put £8m Owen up for grabs
Chaser replied to Jimbo's topic in Newcastle Forum
There arent any quotes at this stage and the media has been known to stir the pot lately. By taking the quote about finances from Chris Mort, they may have just made the story about Owen as it generates funds. If he does go, its a sickening end to a disasterous signing. If he stays, you just hope he will get over the injuries but unfortunately I dont think we are going to see a consistently fit player. -
I hope that we kick the f*** out of them tonight and give a hell of a performance following all the drivel thats been written about the club in the last couple of weeks. Im one of the Big Sam supporters and therefore hope for him that we get a result to shut up all the fickle idiots who do nothing but look for negatives from our club.
-
cruel result that, dont deserve to lose it that badly
-
Would be good idea to get a website together for North Easterners and look to take over one of these struggling non-league teams around here. At least you're not having to look at results all the way down Sarf.

I feels like he's trying to bring the club back to more familiar roots, taking away the us & them mentality that surrounds premiership teams. Still think its a risk putting a billionaire owner in amongst a bunch of away fans at the most hostile fixture of the season. Quinny said that the Police werent happy with him going into the corporate with his shirt on - likely to rouse a few prawn sandwiches, however, i would have thought they would be even less happy with this arrangement!
-
Im willing to give BS plenty time to get it right. He brought a club like Wanderers into the top half of the premiership table for christs sake. Look at their fortunes since he left! It takes time to turn the clubs fortunes. I would put us amongst the likes of Everton & Portsmouth, at the moment no more. The dead wood has left the club and BS will need a couple of transfer windows just to get the players in that he wants. We've seen promise from some of those players but others are taking longer to settle in. Im confident that in the long term, our fortunes will turn. Everybody wants a quick fix in football but the bubble has to burst at some point.

Remember Rio Ferdinand not being that great until he came of age at Man Utd. Dont think John Terry got into the groove until he was about 22-23
-
If you read Allardyces comments on .com, it seems he is trying to get the players to play to feet.

Dont reckon I can see the animated stuff as it doesnt seem to work.
