1. If we still had Bellamy, we never would have had Owen - simple as that... 35790 You keep saying that in any Bellamy thread as if its a fact when its categorically wrong. Souness on his own admission (and rightly) bought Owen to replace Shearer, hence him pointing out that Owen was one of onle a handful of people who could ever fill Shearers boots. 36207 All a matter of interpretation. When Souness said that, I interpreted it in the sense of replacing Shearer as an iconic status rather than a direct replacement. Really?? 100% nonesense?? So you say that without a shadow of a doubt, if Craig Bellamy was still here, we'd have still have signed Michael Owen? That's gotta be one of the most ridiculous statements I've seen in a long, long while....
2. Just hope he is better at running a football team than he is an F1 team tbh. 36285 The bloke has done an absolutely fucking superb job of running Minardi. The very fact that they haven't gone under during his time at the helm is a miracle. It's the equivalent of managing Gateshead and their current budget whilst playing in the Premiership!! Back to 'Makeshit', any rumour in the fact his next purchase will be Austria itself which will be re-named Red Bull and the national flag changed to blue and silver quarters??
3. He's a prat..... If it was buying him out of a contract so that he could drive for McLaren I could understand it, but £20m out of his own pocket so he can drive for a team who have yet to win a race and don't currently look like doing so?? It'll serve him right if Williams get it right with Cosworth (who have a history of doing well with V8s) next year and BAR get it horribly, horribly wrong... Last year he was badly advised, agreed. This year he's acting like the kid who wants the toy he's not allowed only to change his mind now that he's got it!
4. Hit either 'Fast Reply' or 'Add Reply' at the foot of the page. Hitting 'Quote' allows you to select whether or not you want to include that particular message before you hit 'Add Reply' (the advantage being that you can select to quote multiple messages). Hitting 'Reply' replies to the message quoting the original message. It does take some getting used to, but the ability to quote selected messages appeals to some.
5. You'd be gutted if we did anyway. 36098 Well it would be a piss poor performance considering he has had 50 million to spend. He has to win the Champions league to appease me - this year. 36106 He'll have to get blood out of a stone before he'll appease you!

R.I.P.

I commented yesterday that the bloke in his 40s from York worked for us. Word has gone round that he regularly did road-races and was considered very athletic... Very sad.
8. when did he fake injury twice to get out of playing? The only thing we know he did was to do it once to get out of training to go and see the chairman. Is speculation suddenly becoming fact after the passafge of time? How handy. Tbh the way NUFC is being run and the man they do have in charge I would say we're a shit club with a shit manager. Will someone tell me how we're any different? 35823 Stop splitting hairs - that's one time too many... If he wanted to go and see the chairman, why did he have to do it during training?? Why not wait til afterwards like any other player in the squad would have done? Why? Because Craig Bellamy is an arrogant shit who thinks he's above everyone else...
9. The definitive 'hit the nail on the head' comment. Bellamy had an opportunity to let bygones be bygones and start again with a clean slate - something he clearly didn't want to do - personally I'm glad that a player with a chip that size on his shoulder is no longer drawing wages from the club I support. He was a good player - indeed. He was also a complete and utter twat who IMO, did not properly respect the club or the people who support it.
10. Does that include the likes of Marcelino, Maric, etc...? So it's OK to slag off our current payroll, but not those who've left??
11. If we still had Bellamy, we never would have had Owen - simple as that...
12. Bellamy or Owen - absolutely no contest! Bellamy left us to join a 'big' club remember! Good riddance!
13. Wouldn't want to embarrass you!
14. Not at all.... I was being specific. The point was made that £50m has been spent and we've not seen an improvement as a result.. I was merely saying that a high proportion of that cost has not yet had the opportunity together... Additionally, I don't believe we were a 'top 5 club' when he took over. I think we were very lucky to finish where we did the previous season and if those teams just below us had been on form, we wouldn't have done.
15. I wouldn't mind seeing Bridge in at Left Back 35705 Given Del Horno's liking for injuries, Chelsea will never sell Bridge in a million years unless they find a better LB themselves. They've already passed off their shite LB!

18. Other names which feel by the wayside were Darren Huckerby and Chris Holland. Both who at the time, we considered to be a bit special but, because we had no reserve league, they weren't fussed at staying... All this was lost due to the cutting up of the SJP pitch. Keegan wanted the reserves to play their matches at Gateshead International Stadium, the league wouldn't allow it. The irony of it all is that even now, the pitch has always been as shite at certain points of the season as it was back then.
19. Nope, I've read it again and I don't see how I've misread or misconstrued you. Please tell me how I have. 35479
20. Not at all, you've complete mis-read the point (or was that deliberate). That was in reference to the money he has spent....
21. Precisely SLP.... My over-riding point is that we didn't suddenly start becoming crap when Souness took over....it had started before then. For me, the rot started when we lost to Partizan Belgrade on penalties. All throughout that season there was piss-poor performances along the way. The home match against Wolves springs immediately to mind - we can't, however much we want to, blame that on Souness.... You point out that he has spent £50m, but most of that has been during this summer and he has yet been able to play all £50m worth in one team. If once he has for a few games, he's still not getting right, THEN you can criticise him for spending all that money without the desired return...
22. Aren't you a member over there as well??
23. Awesome as always, and would look even better with the background in grey or like your current sig. 35416 Yep, the sepia effect would look good on that one...
