Van Dijk off to see a specialist. His hamstring injury appears to be worse than originally thought.

Yep current one is at 98 pages and entitled NUFC/Sportswashing - Winter 2022. Remember winter started on December 21st. A fortnight ago today!

Generic small time football blather thread FOREVER
Craig replied to Sonatine's topic in Newcastle Forum
Fucking hell -
Absolutely the worst fucking accent on this planet isn't it? Imagine being born into a lifestyle where you speak loik that!

Still in the honeymoon period for me like. Gerrard was still the golden boy in their eyes at this stage too - that soon changed. Villa fans - horrible, horrible entitled cunts.

Their match thread on our game was started less than an hour before KO last night and is at 38 pages. Ours was started 4 days ago and is 23 pages long. And we're the ones obsessed?

This response though...

Donelan has advised against the sale of Channel 4. Predictably, her predecessor as Culture Secretary is going nuts on Twitter

Rather than weird I see it as them recognising their style of play has been nullified by the opposition. Both of them (Klopp in particular) are psychopaths. He's unable to accept someone has got the better of him tactically. Remember when he blamed the Fulham pitch for being 'dry'? How dare the home side set the pitch up to suit themselves / work against the opposition. Fucking prick!

Indeed. He was absolutely NOT poor last night. Saturday, I think he allowed a couple of the Leeds lads to needle him but fucking hell, a player having an iffy game once in a blue moon is not something we should be getting on their backs about. We went to the league leaders who had a 100% home record, scored in every game this season and thanks in part to Bruno nullifying one of their main threats, we held them to a 0-0 draw. If it had been against a mid-table team I might understand the criticism.
-
Last night it was clear he was tasked with keeping Ødegaard quiet which he largely did. He can't do that AND demonstrate the flair we've seen in other games. Rather than going missing, he's performing a different role and very effectively too.

Absolutely insane!

Another way of looking at it is below. This shows the table as it currently is. who we've played and where and what the result is. Of the 9 games we've played away from home, all bar 3 of them are currently occupying places in the top 8. Conversely, 6 of the top 8 still have to come to SJP which has become a fortress. The disappointing results for me, aside from the Palace & Liverpool matches where terrible refereeing decisions affected the result, is Bournemouth at home and Wolves away.

Ah OK, makes sense. As you were.
-
Unless I'm reading it wrong, how have we only got 1 point from fixtures against 'Top Two'? We drew against both Man City & Arsenal so surely it should be 2 points?
-
A balanced Gooner? Blimey, even a broken clock is right twice a day! All joking aside, it's good to hear a balanced viewpoint. In contrast I'm impressed with how much Arsenal have come on since last season - mind you, I don't think we saw a true representation of them at SJP, they were still reeling from the North London derby loss. Who've they got next I wonder?

What we shouldn't lose sight of as well is that our quality of passing last night was some way below our usual par. I think the weather conditions were partly to blame and the intensity of their pressing as well but irrespective, it gives me satisfaction that there was more in the tank from us than was demonstrated.
-
The performance of our defence is fucking incredible btw. 11 goals conceded and 5 of those were against Man City & Liverpool. Trippier & Botman have been outstanding acquisitions but Pope too. At £10m he's an absolute steal! And to think a load of melts on Twitter were up in arms that Howe dared to replace Dubravka with him.

Trying to look at it objectively I saw it as his frustrations boiling over when he realised his gameplan against us was all wrong and he was flapping about how to break us down. He said as much in his interview as well - "Newcastle haven't played like that all season...." To be honest, he should be taking it as a compliment. Arsenal ARE a fucking good side and, although we are too, we definitely did have to change our approach to contain them. The nonsense on Twitter from the knobhead Gooners is hilarious - what seriously did they expect? Us to go there, be one dimensional and play our standard game and most likely have our arses served to us? How on earth would that be demonstrative of good coaching?

What it proved was that our lads can adapt and play physical and defensive when required - it’s not always all about the high press. Arteta in the press conference bemoaning that we played differently against them than any other team. I’ll take that as a compliment thanks very much you angry Spanish arsehole. By contrast you lot couldn’t adapt at all - hence you couldn’t break us down. Man City’s title to lose.
