  1. Don't you fucking start Considering we were trying to sign Baggio, we were absolutely going for it.
  2. On that, I absolutely agree with you
  3. The 'evidence' at this stage in 1996 suggested we should win the league. We didn't. It's not about being tedious and starting an argument, it's about enjoying this ride one step at a time. If it's meant to be, we'll get there. As others have said we don't have the depth of squad that those competing for 3rd and 4th with us have.
  4. Rotated squad but a strong bench to come on and sort things out if required. Remember how Tranmere tried to clog us in the EFL cup earlier in the season? I reckon Sheff Wed might be similar - especially as it's on their turf. I'd rest the likes of Bruno, Wilson, Botman, Trips & Pope.
  5. BTW Gloomy, I'm not trying to be contrary towards you - I get the point you're making and of course optimism should never be discouraged. It should definitely be tempered though. If we finish top 7 this season we'll have achieved our pre-season target and we should be satisfied with that. We absolutely should dare to dream on achieving more than that but, if it doesn't come off we should still be satisfied with hitting that mark. Let's keep things in context and absolutely NOT act like mardy cunts if we miss out on CL football - they'll be enough of those dickheads all over Twitter & Facebook.
  6. The brass neck on him for ever bringing that up. Where was he born? Fucking Southampton!
  7. Saying we should finish in the top 4 is bordering on 'entitled cunt' levels. No thanks. If we finish top 4 it'd be fucking immense, but there should zero expectation of doing so at this point in our journey - irrespective of recent form.
  8. Not to mention the PM pension.
  9. I bet he felt a right tit doing that.
  10. Remember folks, this is the clown who wanted Burnley to lose to Southampton(who were pretty much level on points with us at the time) in April last year because he wanted Burnley’s relegation confirmed ASAP irrespective of the impact it had on our finishing spot
  11. We’re not even at the halfway point of the season, there’s absolutely NOTHING to say we ‘should’ finish there. ‘Can’ finish there I would agree with, ‘should’? No.
  12. Totally agree with all of this. Anyone reasonably sound of mind will be satisfied with top 6 and delighted with top 4. If it doesn't come off then it's progression on the previous season and that needs to be seen as an achievement. The last home game of the 2003/04 season against Wolves is still etched painfully in my memory. We expected too much, viewed 5th as relative failure and the house of cards started which effectively lasted 17½ years.
  13. I think Man City will win the league and I expect Arsenal to maintain 2nd place. 3rd and 4th are up for grabs realistically between us, Spurs, Chelsea, Man United & Liverpool. Therefore we need those four to land flat on their arse at each and every opportunity - even against the 2 teams above us. And 3 of them still need to come to SJP.
  14. 100% rooting for a Man City win. Why wouldn't you? Top 4 is our aim, not the title.
  15. And surely after 2 rounds of American ownership, Liverpool will want to be steering well clear of a 3rd round. I can't remember the details, but wasn't the profit of Man Utd virtually wiped out overnight when the Glazers took them over? Using the clubs funds for serviceable debt?
  16. The money is a very valid point. I thought the money being asked for Chelsea was insane and was surprised it was met. There seems to be a thought process amongst the fans of the so-called established top 6 that their positions make them more attractive to would-be purchasers. If anything I think it makes them less attractive because the expectations of the fans would be absolutely off the scale immediately. If you were an organisation looking to purchase an English football club, why on earth would you spunk stupid money on the likes of Man United or Liverpool? Surely a far more attractive proposition would be to buy someone like Villa, Everton, Forest or Leeds for a fraction of the cost and start a project. The 'entitled' mindset of the top clubs is arrogance on a ridiculous scale - hence their desire, and let's face it the ALL wanted it, to join a European Super League.
  17. Predictably, the media are suggesting Rooney on account of how well he did at Derby. Remind me who the bright, young, ex-England international they had as manager before him? Forest, Everton and Southampton will go down for me.
  18. Born out of pure envy IYAM. Remember the first match that Staveley was seen at and they were adamant it was a precursor to her fronting a bid to takeover Liverpool? "She's a lifelong Liverpool fan!", "Who'd be interested in shitty Newcastle, she has to be looking at LFC!", etc. Compounded because FSG are now looking to sell Liverpool, but PIF are no longer window shopping ... they've made their purchase, and they'll stick with it.
