  1. It's almost like the Premier League was designed for 22 teams.
  2. Man Utd are not to be underestimated. They've much improved as the season has progressed - either of those sides would give us a real challenge.
  3. Absolutely spot on. I want them to get promoted simply on the basis that their barometric theory would be shot to shit.
  4. aye, but does anyone know how much one would cost?
  5. I taught my dog to play the trumpet on the London Underground... We went from Barking to Tooting in half an hour.
  6. On the contrary, the 5th anniversary of the disaster coincided with us playing, and winning at Anfield. Before the match our fans laid a wreath in remembrance. We were rightly praised for it and their true fans have never forgotten it. As with every other subject, the gammons on Twitter are clueless wankers intent on being keyboard warriors. And sadly that’s on all sides including ours. Theres no way we’d taunt them about Hillsborough after what happened at WHL in 1987.
  7. Yeah I get that. A lot of it is mindset - before the last time I was running regularly I was setting the alarm for 6am and snoozing it for 30 minutes before getting up and jumping in the shower. Instead of hitting snooze I was getting out and doing a 5k run and jumping in the shower at the same time. I appreciate it's not possible for everyone but I questioned if I wasn't able to find 30 minutes 3 days a week and rationalised I'd be making excuses to avoid it.
  8. It very much was buy them cheap with a view to selling them on for a profit. He had no interest in developing the academy because the chance of returns were pretty shit from a financial perspective.
  9. This is worth a look Renton, it's pretty much what I'm doing: Get running with Couch to 5K - NHS (www.nhs.uk) As Gemmill says, nail getting 5K done 3 times a week and you're pretty much sorted - it's being consistent about it that's the key. I last was really into it about 6 years ago and did the same route Monday, Wednesday & Friday and had the others as rest days. I was absolutely dead on my feet when I started and within 2 months I entered a 5K, came 11th overall and the leading non-running club entrant. The challenge for me is the distance and it'll be a mental challenge more than a physical one. I don't give a shit what time I do, it's getting around the course that's important. A mate who's a marathon runner is training with me at the moment and despite being one of the biggest pisstakers ever, he's hugely encouraging.
  10. I'm not a royalist, but there's something about this I find uncomfortable. None of us have the perfect family - least of all me, but I'd hate for those issues to be played out amongst a wider audience. I have absolutely no interest in reading about it and have avoided it as much as I possibly can.
  11. I was having a chat with a few of the lads down my local last night - right mix of supporters - Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal, etc. Every single one of them agreed that if PIF had taken over their club they'd be as happy as a pig in shit whilst still remaining critical of the human rights record. The majority who, as you say, have recently discovered their moral compass are generally keyboard warriors, steeped in jealousy and without the composure to be able to process it.
  12. Probably partly also due to it being a Tuesday night in January and they don't expect to come away with anything.
  13. That’s pretty much my game plan. I was a regular runner about 6 or 7 years ago so it’s not completely alien, but my limit was 5-10K. I’ve always wanted to do the GNR so it’s one to tick off the bucket list. I couldn’t give a shit about timing, it’s all about getting it done.
  14. You really need to get over the St James’ Park thing, it can’t be good for your health
  15. And an ego off the scale. No thanks.
  16. First outing this evening. Did just under 2 miles averaging just under 11min miles. Quite happy with that for a start
  17. I appear to have taken leave of my senses - just put myself in the ballot for the GNR Have never run more than 10K in my life and I haven't run at all for over 2 years!! I guess it'll either kill me or cure me
  18. I think his price tag put a fairly sized burden on his shoulders and when he didn't get off the scoresheet for 2 months it just added to the pressure. I don't think he's specifically a bad player - a goal every other game at Leeds and 1 goal in 3 at Burnley suggests there's something there; I just don't think Chris Wood & Newcastle United has worked - sometimes it happens where a player and club don't gel. Many examples of this over the years - Keane at Liverpool; Shevchenko at Chelsea & Bergkamp at Inter are examples that spring to mind.
  19. The stand, and its access points were built in the 60s. OK, they altered the turnstiles post-disaster which improved some level of crowd flow but people were still sent through that tunnel to access the majority of the terrace. It doesn't matter whether you're standing or sitting - the restricted access remains. Should have been razed to the ground as a mark of respect to those directly affected by events that day. I know someone who lost their best mate there and they are still unable to watch a match on the TV that's held at Hillsborough given it's much the same as it was 34 years ago.
  20. I quite like the Championship predictions too https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/soccer-predictions/championship/
