  1. Why would we want to copy what the Mackems have?
  2. Yeah they can fuck off with this nonsense. Just making it an open competition doesn't suddenly make it more appealing.
  3. Plus if they knock the existing Gallowgate down and start again there's infrastructure that'll need relocating - club shop, Shearers, ticket office, statues, etc. They may even consider creating a function venue - meeting legend ex-players etc. Multiple times the owners have talked about wanting to better integrate the club with its fan base. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it'd be an alternative.
  4. Funnily enough I was just having a look at the location of the metro lines and they do run close to Strawberry Place. There was a suggestion years ago that as it was a terminal station, the lines could be relocated to terminate pretty much where St James' Boulevard meets Gallowgate - but it wasn't favourable as there was a desire to future extend the line towards the General Hospital which is no longer a requirement. Let's face it, the owners have a fuckload of money so surely a complete reconfiguation of the Metro Station as part of any development plans basically moving it south of its current location cannot be out of the question?
  5. Aye the only grounds for relocating a Grade 1 building would be if the building was at risk due to natural causes - subsidence, etc. I doubt allowing the expansion of a modern sports stadium would be considered adequate grounds for relocation by English heritage.
  6. Mitrovic single-handled drowning out the cries of 'get him in the bewk'
  7. Yeah it's the reduction in natural light that causes the issues with getting planning permission. I also suspect the Georgian houses in St James' St are under some sort of listing too. I'm assuming Strawberry Place will remain a public highway so whatever we do will have to traverse that. But demolishing everything south of the leading edge of the Gallowgate roof and building a Dortmund/Spurs style kop end must be a consideration. Creating the fan zone in the area south of the Metro station provides a perfect new location for the statues and memorials too. The SBR memorial garden will no doubt be a good spot.
  8. The issue with the east stand is that planning regulations have significantly tightened over the past 50 years. It almost certainly wouldn't get permission if the same plans were submitted today meaning that if we were to demolish it, we'd most likely end up building something smaller. BTW it's just dawned on me that thing is 50 years old this year. When I started going to matches, that was considered the 'new' stand!
  9. I don't want to appear disrespectful to a memorial service for Munich, but this is a fucking travesty.
  10. Conversely, I'd be amazed if we managed to get anything over that for him. We see two different players. I see someone who shines in a poor side but is largely obscure in a decent team. He undoubtedly has flair but it comes across to me that it's the primary aspect to his game - it's no exaggeration that he seems to take on the same player 2-3 times in the same move. The fact he's only started 6 out of 28 games this is season is also very telling.
  11. Because it was a release clause. If we had a £40m release clause for ASM and someone was willing to pay it, we'd get that much for him. I strong suspect the answer is 'no' to both points. £20-25m I think would be good business for him.
  12. Aye, I can't see us getting more than £20m for him. £40m is pie in the sky IYAM.

Best not ask .... some twat decided to plug the new receiver in without turning the amp off! Currently have both a replacement amp AND mic system on order. I'm not touching it
  14. I don't think he'll go with ASM again from the start, but I'm not sure he'll start Gordon either. Wouldn't be surprised if he goes with Murphy.
  15. Absolutely awful news. Hope they find him and others trapped.
  16. Suffice to say I've used multiple email addresses and got my missus and daughter to register it too. If it fails, I'm off to the casino at Westfield Stratford as i qualified for the regional poker finals and they're playing the match on a big screen there.
  17. Huge long shot but it's worth giving this a go: Win Carabao Cup Tickets, Competitions & Prizes | Carabao Energy Drink (drinkcarabao.co.uk)
  18. I was there for that one. 2 minutes in before everyone on the gallowgate decided they couldn't see and decided to go on the pitch. Stewards tried to stop them but quickly gave up
  19. A design from the 1920s, made out of polyester and carrying a crest not used until 70 years later? * I would have put this in the other thread had someone not deleted. You lot do need to go on that site though and see the authentic ‘never released’ Liverpool top from the 90s
  20. The issue could possibly be the misuse of evidence. I'm not a solicitor, I'm not sure if any of the regulars on here are now mancmag isn't around but I've read a bit about how video evidence pretty much becomes inadmissible once it's been plastered on social media due to the concerns of a prejudiced trial. The evidence to me appeared quite damning but if the CPS have decided it's not concrete enough for whatever reason, then that is why the charges are dropped. As for 'society at large will probably now likely broadly assume that he is innocent' well by the letter of the law he was always innocent until proven guilty - which hasn't happened. I get the point you're making though.
