Honestly? I don't watch enough TV to justify whatever the outlay is these days. My telly works. The day it doesn't, I'll replace it. I'm also careful when I move mine
-
Jesus CT, WTF are you doing to your telly if you're needing to replace it after 4 years?! Mine's 11 years old and still going strong.
-
Of course they were. It's not in their (self) interest to be independently regulated. It's fucking shambolic this league is over 30 years old, has pretty much destroyed any balance to the footballing pyramid and has never been held to account by anyone but themselves. Didn't Starmer commit to independent regulation as part of the Labour manifesto? Needs to happen quickly.
-
They need to be. Instinct told me the carry on with our protracted takeover stunk to high heaven, but I wondered if it was because I was looking at it with black n white tinted specs on. This situation has only served to increase suspicion. The PL holds far too much power - both operationally and commerically and as Gemmill has said elsewhere, they are STILL self regulating. It's absolute horseshit! The longer this goes on, the more I believe a bias towards certain clubs could, and probably does exist. Fair play to Man City to be fair. Much like Prince Harry taking on the press for phone-tapping, it needs someone with pockets deep enough to fund the legal battle to root these cunts out.

Generic small time football blather thread FOREVER
Craig replied to Sonatine's topic in Newcastle Forum
Agree with this but it's further complicated by the fact they imposed a points deduction on Forest last season. Surely they've got an argument to say they've been treated inconsistently. -
BBC now reporting likewise. Does make you wonder if Man City taking this to trial has resulted in the PL being caught with their pants down and scrabbling to save face, being economical with the truth in the process. Possibly even an existential threat to the PL as we know it?
-
Simon Cliff, general counsel for Manchester City has written to the other 19 PL clubs and warned that the PL have misinterpreted the judgement. He states all APT rules void and applies retrospectively to October 2021. Basically - any deal knocked by the PL under APT rules was done so unlawfully and can be enforced in law to claim compensation.

Just a thought but do you reckon the fact the detail of who emailed the PL being redacted suggests the court believes there could be a follow up claim by NUFC for lost earnings? Xenophobic, anti-competition and talk of the 'Gulf region'. It's got Levy all over it for me.
-
Exactly. We can argue whether the rules are morally correct until the cows come home but within the rules they were. Starmer's decision to hand them back is founded in morality as opposed to being found out. Don't even get me started on contracts for Tory's mates. Michelle Mone needs locking up!

After Saturday's performance I'd much prefer it was spent on Jonathan David

Yeah, that's my take on it. They're fucking desperate for a story oozing of corruption from the new government that they're latching on anything. This isn't one they'd have let go of easily so it's probably best all round that she (officially) steps down. The level of desperation from the media is getting pathetic. Take the donations for instance - whilst I fundamentally disagree with them accepting donations, I'm fairly certain the majority of sitting cabinet ministers over the past few decades will all have accepted liked-minded donations without this level of scrutiny so why the hysteria about it now? And the same outlets who are outraged right now didn't seem to have much issue with Sunak chartering government choppers to transport him from central London to Southampton at his convenience. Starmer's returned the donations - the right thing to do.

From the BBC: In this arbitration process, Chelsea, Newcastle, Nottingham Forest and Everton all acted as witnesses for City. Witnesses for the Premier League were Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham, Brighton and West Ham.

Years ago I had a script which mail-bombed anyone requesting a read receipt with whatever arbitrary number of receipts you wanted to. People soon stopped doing that shit.

The 'Wagatha' bullshit has gone back to court over the 'sheer magnitude of legal costs'. Vardy claiming Rooney was taking the piss. Can we just put these two cunts before the firing squad and be done with it?
-
Official site are making the point in their press release that his grandad secured the funding for the East Stand back in the 70s. Nepotism reigns supreme!

Yeah I'm definitely the 'knower'. My mate is the landlord at my local, runs the darts team and is quite good. Had me in the team once and then never again as he was bothered about his windows being put through

Over the weekend me and mate signed up for the reboot of Bullseye

There's also the added matter of the CEO stepping down on health reasons. No doubt they will want Eales's replacement in post and to be able to add influence to any decision which probably accounts for the extended timeline.
-
They do mention stadium footprint and surrounding areas so I wouldn't count anything out ... and they're inferring a rough timetable for decisions to be made. It's as complex as fuck, man and as they allude to, it's a once in a generation decision. Lack of patience from Gloomy is off the scale
-
Well ahead of you.

I wouldn't go that far. I'm surrounded by a few of them who proclaim they were "one of the champions of Europe" last year...
