I certainly think our police force is not even on the same map as that of Brazil. Although I like it that way and I think we should try and avoid even going down that road. As for coppers, I know one copper who is sound as anything, and another who is an utter twat, who i wouldn't trust with a spud gun to be honest. But then how he's still in the force is a mystery to me. If there's any justice he'll be caught out and given the boot.

Maybe it's a "common enemy" thing. Some white supremecists in the US have alligned themselves with radical sikhs groups because they share the vitrolic hatred of muslims. They've also lauded more moderate Sikhs as an example of a people who can live in America without blowing people up/taking their jobs/exploiting their wellfare/raping their women/whatever you want to blame immigrants for. Although I think the latter could be them just picking a smaller, less prominant group to claim they don't have a problem with in order to deny their racism is not based simply on xenophobia, but on genuine concern - a "I'm not racist, I've got a black friend!" defence if you like. "If we were just racists for the sake of it we'd hate Sikhs as well, that proves it's only because the muslims are doing X Y Z." I don't doubt that if muslims suddenly vanished from the US, the Sikhs would be some of the next in line for the lions share of the bigotry, but hate groups often switch the main object of their 'affection' depending on who they can justify their hatred for best. I'd go the french way and keep all religious attire and symbols out of schools, including head scarves, daft knives and the rest..
