I, for one, and I have had many supportive PM's on this, am deeply concerned about Gary Speed coming back here. After all, when he was here he continued to play games for his country when fit and was happy enough to leave for another club rather than toss himself off the Tyne bridge in front of people coughing up their hard earned cash. If he was to return I could never truly be sure of his motives, I would always have a nagging doubt that he was merely trying to ensure his current family and future genetic heritage had the best possible opportunity to survive and, with luck, have a good life. That's the kind of attitude that makes me want to call anyone within earshot a cunt or a wanker.

Posh Spice is only a mega star in her own mind, I'm not even sure she'd really be called a star in her own right in the UK now (more Mrs Beckham). Please don't tell me she is in the US. I think she's in California marra, sorry to break the news like.

Michael Owen and his relationship with the toon fans

Burn the young. Don't have enough years behind them to support the toon, unless they memorise our entire history. Bonfire night soon lads. Round 'em up. -
I am willing to be proven wrong. My opinion of Owen could still change, if he gets his head up, stays fit, and for God's sake stops putting England before us. A bucketload of goals won't necessarily change that, however. Example: Sib v. Owen. The gulf in class is immense. I still feel better about Sib pulling on the black and white than I do about Owen. Just because Owen is six times the striker doesn't mean he's six times the Mag. He's got something to prove - and that is that NUFC is important to him, that it is an honour for him to go out in our colours, and that other obligations aren't tying him down. If he can prove it, you won't hear me complaining. Fuck right off you clueless twat! "Six times the Mag....our colours...blah blah blah". Perhaps if you had to part with money to stand in the pissing cold watching the numbers board go up and seeing that...oh...Antoine fucking Sibierski's coming off the bench to save the bastard day, is he?! (I cannot tell you how depressing it was to see the floodlights bouncing off his shiny head and realising that THIS was the only attacking option we had to turn the game around, and yet here you are telling me you'd sooner see him there than Michael Owen) you'd feel a bit different about the Sibierski vs Owen conundrum. I know I've had a go at you for not having a clue about football on several occasions, but I had no idea that the situation was quite this bad. This mentality about Newcastle being something oh so special has to change. If Owen comes out after every match telling every fucking newspaper in the world that he wants out I couldnt care less, as long as hes scoring goals. Its the same as when people were telling me they'd rather play "sexy" football and lose 4-3 instead of having a regular match winning 1-0. If every player thats supposed to play for us has to BLEED black and white, we're going to be stuck with Shola and if we're lucky, Fattison... I just dont want that, it was depressing enough last season I completely agree. Michael Owen can have black and white toilet roll specially made for him by a factory full of mackems just so he can wipe his arse on the colours, for all I care. He's the best player in the squad, he's better than anyone we can feasibly get in to replace him, and he'll score shitloads of goals for us. That's all that matters. Fucking Sibierski 6 times the Mag ffs. Who gives a shite who's the better "mag". Exactly. Narrow minded, sentimental tribalism is fucking irrelevant. And in the face of perpetual underachievement it is just sad.

Not too much fuckin appreciation going on I note. ho hum. I work with some people who are ruthless selfish mercenaries and total cock-knockers, but as long as do what they're meant to then I am happy enough. If I like them then that's a bonus. Michael does what we need when he can. Does his job well when he can. Does he REALLY need to bleed black and white to satisfy some of you people? I tell you what, if you think he's such a cunt then boo him next time he scores the winner for us.

Michael Owen and his relationship with the toon fans

The press are obsessed with him playing for england man, have been ever since 1998. They see him as the great hope and given his goals for England its fair enough. The national press would not even bother to show him saying anything about the toon cos THEY couldn't give a fuck. This does not mean Michael doesn't give a fuck. We are spoon fed the quotes the press want us to eat, and look what it is doing? Driving toon against toon. This is what they want man! -

And Owen is considerably better at not making up outrageous 'I was nearly shot, honest' stories.

He scores the winner against Wigan then gets another against Everton WTF do you want him to do? He is employed to score goals, which he is doing. He wants to play for the club and he wants to play for his country, he is passionate about England, so am I. I want England to do well and wish all the players had his attitude towards the national side. Anyone who thinks we would be a better team without Owen knows nowt about football and those who think Oba is a better option just look at how many chances he misses QFT -
I would have put Owen / Viduka and Smith / Martins... I reckon Viduka's bludgeon approach suits Owens more direct approach, while Smith could make better use of Martins' movement and pace. some of the "round the corner" passes by Smith against Everton were exceptional What movement? When he chases the ball after it bounces 20 yards away from his first 'touch'

Can I ask what I thought was an obvious question but no one's raised: What was Owens reply? " " -
The premiership is now more and more about "the monies". Almost every player in the world wants to come here, they may well say it's because it's such a great league or they really love shitty weather, traffic jams and luke warm pasties but the truth is the insane amount of cash available. So, as all these people do is kick a ball about should we really have them earning these preposterous amounts of cash? I mean most of them contribute little back to society, are not particularly good role models and get themselves into shameful bother with all that wonga and the associated lifestyle. Teachers make bugger all, nurses, posties. These are people that actually do something. Isn't it time that some reason was applied and we limit their earnings? Either this or we should up the stakes a bit? A basic of £20k p/a but £50k for a win and £75k for a goal, £250k for a trophy....then maybe we'd see them playing with real passion? I just made £8.50 typing this. Oh the irony.

I might get myself a nice big turnip, all of my own, in the Mendips.
