Andy Carroll aftermath(press conf/interviews etc)
trophyshy replied to Barney's topic in Newcastle Forum
just rang Santander to close an account, their call centre is in Liverpool and of course I spoke to a red dipper. He was fairly nonplussed by the signing and irate that Carroll had expressed he hadn't wanted to leave Newcastle. I am pleased to have closed the account and I will now be putting all my money in Northern Rock. -

some fly on the wall stuff here from yesterday at SJp -
It also needs sadly putting on record that the vice chair declared herself "perfectly happy" to lose these 1000+ members who had "joined a supporters club" and replace them with 75 people who wanted to be part of a supporters trust. I was flabergasted by that to be honest and can't understand the logic or reasoning that goes into it. The idea that you just let 1000+ of your paying membership drift off into the night without even trying to swing them around to the benefits of a Trust is staggering. Sitting someone like Colin Whittle in front of them for five minutes and letting him talk passionately about ST's would probably have convinced more than half to give it another year but it seems like those making decisions decided against the worth of this. I was very disappointed to hear this. As for what made 75 people sign up in the last month. I'd guess these figures are largely reactionary and have gone through following the acrimonious departure of Chris Hughton. Whenever there's turmoil at the club the Trust gets a little spike in membership as people seek to invest in the only thing that seems to offer an alternative to what's currently in place. They could be boosting their membership right now by putting out a properly worded statement about the sale of Andy Carroll...unfortunately they've failed to do that as well. The revelations of how this debt was occurred was staggering. One man (thankfully no longer associated with the Trust) acting alone and given free reign to negotiate with NJC media almost bankrupting the organisation as a result. That this was allowed to happen is, in my view, inexcusable (although its important to point out that this apprently all occurred before the current board were elected). I was also disappointed with the vagueries offered by the former chair of exactly what it was that we got for our money. I wasn't able to get any coherent answer out of anyone in attendence other than that it was some "advertising" for the YWC campaign and there was way too much shrugging of shoulders when I asked for specifics. Instead I was told that the campaign attracted "1000 new members"....a good job as we were apparently letting another 1000 walk out of the door. It seems obvious now why NJC media has all but stopped mentioning the Trust as the two must have a very uncomfortable relationship. Was I the only one who was under the impression that NJC had agreed to offer the Trust free advertising in the light of the 'Al-Together now' campaign the two outfits ran at the close of our relegation season? Astounding to be honest. Time for good people like yourselves and PP resign from this shower and find someone who can set up a supporters club. They would happily get my dosh. The people that might have joined have already had their fingers burnt. You don't get multiple chances to set something like this up unfortunately. Probably very true but yet again, one of the biggest clubs in the country and dont have a supporters club. much less, a pub.

Carroll is young and impressionable and found himself seriously underpaid in an insane market. Ashley and co are lying manipulative cunts. -
'personal reasons' clearly thick as a brick.
-
seems like he'll get on well with the owner
-
surely everyone is permanently up for sale at Newcastle?

Wouldn't have thought you'd be as superior as usual for a while, after your 100% guarantee that Carroll wouldn't be sold in this window. ouch. -

even IF any of that is true, it's the boy who cried wolf with this lot. The owner and chairmen are PROVEN liars and manipulaters and Pardew is a dishonourable suckarse. Andy likely to be manipulated by smarter stakeholders on all sides, even if he went in asking for more he was probably forced into that by his agent/Liverpool. Money has ruined the game, at least we had a good decade or so. -
The only thing I am looking forward to is seeing Pardew squirming like a worm in a cunt in his next interview. The thing is he strikes me as a man of no honour which is why he'll probably be around as long as Ashley is. I could cry. I almost wish the Keegan/Bobby era never happened. A taste of honey is worse than none at all.

Thank you HF. I predict come September that figure will be up to £65-70m Hatem is an expensive signing looking at what's been spent the last 2 years. Can't imagine him spending much more than that ever again, despite the record fee.

Mike Ashley is a cunt, there's some more for you.
-
don't be so hard on yourself. erm.

so depressing. -
DEADMAN stated numerous times he'd kill him if Carroll was sold, I don't think he's got the balls! maybe his username is referring to Ashley?
-
In the hope to cheer us up, here is a nice bottom;
-
well you were wrong, he's gone in January.
-
I'll have to update my spreadsheet at work tomorrow I look forward to it, bitterly.
