I agree about the quote pyramids. They're a nightmare. I'll try and remember to cut the pyramids, sometimes they do encompass the whole picture though. I expect most people read posts sequentially, so you don't need to see them repeated again and again to get a sense of the points being made. It actually detracts from the power of the argument if you have to wade down a pyramid of quotes to find the latest point. What you can do to reduce their length is chop out sections of the quote which are not relevant to your particular point. As I have not done here.

Perhaps to add more colour to the 'pocketing' debate would someone who likes this sort of thing (HF, basically) fancy putting together a what has been spent/invested/input by Ashley against what he may have taken out of the club. Just so we can keep these pockets in some sort of perspective. Maybe this is already in place somewhere? Just interested from a neutral perspective, no axe to grind; i.e. I'm not sucking Ashley off as I type this.

Based on transfer sales over the last few windows an £18m bid for Ba does not activate any of Mike's clauses to sell. 1. Is the player wanting away/demanding more money? 2. Is their contract close to being up? 3. Is the player getting too old to justify awarding them their proposed long contract renewal? 4. Is the offer too good to turn down? If there is this mooted clause in Ba's contract that's a different matter, of course he may be demanding renewed terms but he seems happy enough, perhaps even more so now Papiss has joined.

In business Ashley has shown he can learn, adapt, grow, compete, dominate and make money. There is no evidence as far as I know that he has made any money directly from Newcastle. I think he has demonstrated the first three, we are approaching the fourth. As a sequel to the 'glory' years the start of his reign has been poor. I think he is figuring out how to do it his way (after receiving some terrible advice from dickheads like Wise), because that's who he is. There is room to hope he wants Newcastle to be successful as much as he wants to be successful himself, there is for me anyway, that's my choice. Maybe in his own quiet way he believes he will win us over in the end.
